 Magnetizing flying bases?
« Thread Started on Dec 2, 2009, 2:52pm »

Hey folks,

I'm looking to magnetize the flying bases for my skimmers because they keep snapping. Also, it's nice to be able to remove the base when they're immobilized.

My question is: where do people get the tiny magnets for magnetizing components? And will a single small magnet be powerful enough to hold an entire vehicle?

Thanks!

It's been a while since I've worked on magentizing my bases, but what I'm working on currently is a broad-headed nail that goes into the flying base, and then working on making sure that the rare-earth magnet is sunk into a flat part of the model that is near to the center of gravity.

Another thing that I have seen that I think can also work well are twist style jewelry connectors? McCommander used them on his speeders to good effect.
