How about a tournament in November
« Thread Started on Nov 7, 2009, 12:12am »

Hey Ty and Cassidy have asked for a November tournament and I figured sure. How about November 28 at 11am at the store 2500pts using my new comp list I will publish soon and the assortment of scoring. Hopefully I can even get Josh to come up.

Thanks,
Boldo

We are coming to this one. Both Cassidy and I have been having a great time playing warhammer with the Rochester/ central NY crew. Its great to see the variations in style of army build and game play.

I think so - gotta unpack my armies but its my only Saturday free for awhile so I should take advantage.

Not too worried about Comp isnce I haven't played in so long - I just want to make sure there are not any wierd organizational changes or hard restrictions.

Greetings Brothers,

Personally I am all for having comp and Boldo did a good job with the last comp chart. Comp is great because it messes up people who like to play cheasy and not have to think too much. I occasionally like doing that, but that is why their are Ardboyz tourneys.

Besides, it is fun to play armies that are actual armies and that have 40% or more core in them.

When the comp is biased and so biased that it gives a weaker (Or equivalent) army the equivalent of an automatic loss against another army, there is a problem with the system.

Greetings Brothers,

Skyth, that is the whole point of composition. A person is supposed to be able to a lot of points on composition. I am thinking of going to the tourney with an Orc and Goblin army that will have almost as many points in composition as from winning three games!

Why have this comp? Because players have been seriously going power crazy and not playing real armies. This is a game of armies, not retinues. Ultra cheese is for Ard boyz anyway, not normal Warhammer.

I remember a long time ago, at Altered States and Boldos, back when the game was far more then just winning. Comp, painting and sportsmanship actually mattered....instead of just beating your opponent by cheesing out your army. That is Warhammer, not the way things are now.

Comp should favor some armies over others, as some armies can take lots of core troops and stomp all over others. For example, Daemons of Chaos, Warriors of Chaos, Beasts of Chaos are all very powerful with mostly core, more so then otherwise. The exact opposite is Orcs and Goblins, whose core is more or less trash and underpowered (excluding really good players who can win with anything). The comp is biased for a reason, because the armies are not balanced when they are printed in the books.

And you miss my point entirely.

Weaker (or equal) army starts with a loss over a stronger (Or equal) army because of biased comp system. That is a serious issue with the comp system.

The only ethical use of a comp system is balancing actual strength of different armies. Basing it on the 'right way to play' is a morally wrong position as no one has the 'right way to play'.
