I see the whole fortification thing as less a cash grab, and more as a modelling opportunity / challenge.
I never built any terrain before, because for the most part, I spend most of my time building / modeling my army. Now that terrain is PART of that army, I have a serious impetus to actually go out and build terrain.
I really, really hope in the new codex for space marines (come on, we all know its coming) Imperial Fists get a character that gives an extra fortification or two per detachment. I've always liked the yellow bastards, and it would give me a reason to go out and buy another marine army.

I like what you have done with the fortifications Chris. You have inspired me to work on some defensive walls and fortifications for my Eldar and Chaos armies over the holiday weekend. Should be pretty easy to do in the span of a couple of days.
I'll post pics as they progress.

Tons o fun. Thanks to Smitty and Travis.
Also thanks to Garrett, Konrad, and Courtney for 3 awesome games. It was especially nice to get to play 2 guys I haven't had the chance to before. I think the B-Lo crowd nearly outnumbered the home team. Good to see Beef and Wing recruiting too. I think they said their newest member bought and painted 1500pts in a month (?) including a fortress of redemption!
Like the new rules a lot.

Was a fun event, saw a bunch of new things, learned rules had a few games against cool peeps. Got some new insight to my deathwing. Thanks for running it Smithgal and Travis for the support. d**n GW.
And as for the home team...I dont know, Courtney, myself and C4 were there, Smitty was running it, saw a few millenium peeps. So it was a good turn out. Was nice to see new and old faces. Thanks again. Hope to be at the next one too.

I had a great time! It was good to get a day of 6th edition in since i had one game in so far and hadn't been to a tournament in a few months. All my games were fun and thanks smitty for running it, and travis for hosting/supporting the monthly events

It was my first tournament at Millennium and was a lot of fun. Looking forwards to going to more.
Have you guys decided on a points value for the next event? Still have some painting to do and was wondering what to work on. I know the new tournament standard seems to be 1999+1.

1850 is our usual size, I don't think we'll be going near 2000 or 1999+1.

I'd be willing to bet the same. Not till everyone is very familiar and comfortable with the new rules.
I actually think 6th ed is and will be a slower game in the long run due to allocation, cover on model vs unit, lookout sir, and initiative step pile ins in assault.
All 3 of my 1500pt games went the full 2.5hrs and they will never have time limits past that in local tournaments. Yes, Nids are a slower army to play but I am not a slow player.
Of course, if terrain was pre-set that would help a bit and games will become a little faster with more practice.

"shrug", my games so far in sixth have been pretty fast, even if it's been mostly 1500.
