Hi
I wager a pitcher beer on the outcome of our eventual battle. I bet on yo... er... me for victory.
Anyone see the Frontlinegaming battle report about the 8 flyer at 2000 point battle? Gross... just gross... and I am not even talking about the 1 Gallon Challenge...
Cheers, Nate

Hi Horst
Yup, that's me. That was quite possibly the worst butt-kitting my Tau have ever experienced... that game earned me a smoking boots prize!
I am getting a sense of deja vu - I think we went through this process on dakka, right?
Cheers, Nate

I am not sure I understand how he can reserve everything but the deathmarks there. I thought you could only reserve up to half your army.

Page 80 Flyers Aerial Support - flyers must begin the game as reserves
Page 124 Mission Special Rules Preparing Reserves - When deploying their armies players can choose not to deploy up to half of their units(rounding up) keeping them as reserves to arrive later.(This is what you are thinking of, next sentence however) Units that must start the game in reserve are ignored for the purposes of working out how many other units may do so. A unit and its dedicated Transport are counted as a single unit for these purposes.

Well it looks like the internet's cherry just got popped for the first 6th edition net list! Good job! Here are a few predictions:
1) Somebody locally (no names yet, but I have a few in mind) will crack open their piggy bank and buy this list. (And before you ask, no Steve, Stormravens and Thunderhawks cannot proxy Necron Scythes.) ;D
2) Our local tournaments ( as well as the Holy GT Circuit) will start coming up with its "fixes" to prevent this, leading to...
3) 6th edition GT players, or should I just say 5.1 because its just a continuation of the same crap that we had during the last edition, will suck the life out of 40K again.
Oh, a few more...
4) Necrons will make up 45% or more of the armies represented at Adepticon and all the rest of the Cons that don't merit the mention of their names.
5) Of course this might change if Chaos Space Marines gets an OTT rewrite ( highly doubtful since Phil Kelly is writing it ). Don't worry though Matt Ward will save the game with another one of his "flavorful" codex rewrites that ups the ante once again and makes that new codex the "go to" for WAAC players everywhere!
I havent commented on this thread but have been sitting back waiting to see how things all take form. You know Terry you are 100% correct, if I sat down across from this list I would want to take out a hammer and smash every last model with it and then pound myself in the temples as well so that maybe if I knocked my IQ into the single digits I could have fun getting a22raped by this list. THIS is the reason I stopped tournament play last edition and will most likely be the same reason I will stop this edition as well. I played last weekend at the local event, I saw some diversity, and I had fun. No one took any lists like this, but just like fall and the winter, I would be a fool not to expect their eventual arrivals. You know what Netter both you and Reece from Frontline Games aren't the only ones that have realized that flyers can be broken due to their ability to avoid being hit which is further magnified by the limited AA fire in 6th edition. You aren't any smarter than the rest of us, just bigger a22es since you will be the ones with gimmick armies in the latest GT circuit. Yep you will win, or some other jerk with a similar list will win, and people like Terry who enjoy the game and take pride in their balanced armies will stay home. Next year someone will come up with their tournament "fixes" ( just like 5th edition) and the same casts of characters will come up with another round of crap that skirts those rules as well, choosing to exploit the latest gimmick. I have been enjoying my recents games in this edition and have had a lot of fun playing. I plan on continuing this regardless of whatever else happens, but if this is what the GT circuit has to offer please continue to count me out.
-Rant off-
Hey Brian, how many doom scythes do you want for Christmas???

Hey, why am -I- being singled out for proxying? I've never proxied anything! Granted, I play green blood angels... but thats not proxying! thats just painting them a different color

Nate, I accept the challenge! Victory or Beer!
After watching the battle report, I think I'd have to kick myself in the balls for bringing that (our challenge notwithstanding, Nate). It's at my skill level exactly. It's stupid as heck, but just too good.
MajorSOB, it's okay. I'm not bringing a zillion flyers. But I might be smarter than everyone else, I just haven't figured it out yet.

3) 6th edition GT players, or should I just say 5.1 because its just a continuation of the same crap that we had during the last edition, will suck the life out of 40K again. The only sucking of life out of 40k I see is when people like this guy open their mouth and spew their predictably negative attacks on people they've never met or played, yet feel the right to judge because of what models they buy. ;D ;D ;D ;D- ;D ;D ;D 4) Necrons will make up 45% or more of the armies represented at Adepticon and all the rest of the Cons that don't merit the mention of their names. Won't happen because necrons don't wear power armor/terminator armor and therefore don't appeal to a large enough percentage of hobbyists. Will happen because they do in fact offer power armor, appeal to a much larger percentage of hobbyists (WAAC players), and will offer even better things like units of 30 fearless/fnp scoring zombies and skyfiring obliterators. I have been enjoying my recents games in this edition and have had a lot of fun playing. I plan on continuing this regardless of whatever else happens, but if this is what the GT circuit has to offer please continue to count me out. Too bad the mentioned list in all its evil game breaking WAAC'ness could still never beat any army that brings 150+ models as they wouldn't have places to put the flyers via the minimum move distances or angles, shoot down that many models, or be able to score by the end of the game. Still, "WAAC" players ruin the game by building $700+ armies to then pay an addition $60+ to play in a tournament for a small shot at prize support? I continue to find it amusing that you stand on your soap box shouting for "Rules as Written" and attack people that follow the same mindset. MG has gone out of their way to change their formats to be RAW and "inclusive of all players" and nobody has yet to bring anything abusive like we see online. Yet the doom and gloom continues to come out of your dark little corner. Here's my prediction: This guy will continue to be unhappy no matter what format, rules, or scoring is used at local tournaments because he can't get past the idea that somewhere in the world, another player is buying models and playing lists that he doesn't approve of. Do us all a favor and continue to stay out of threads like these because you totally misunderstood what the OP is doing and has done for at least 2 years talking canadian smack before our GT. If the fact that tournament players are bringing lists that try to win tournaments pisses you off, or that tournament organizers are altering the rules to try to balance broken lists keeps you out of the GT ciruit, so be it. We would all appreciate your silence and absence since you aren't contributing anything positive to the discussion anyways. ;D ;D ;D ;D- ;D ;D ;D TL:DR/ On Topic - Netter I'll gladly play you, your funny lists, or any of your canadian sidekicks this year at the GT and look forward to it. Had a great game against Nate last year and tell Kyle he's my target on the appearance/theme competition.

I would love to see two of those necron lists play each other. That would be enjoyable simply seeing the dog fight over the table.
I would be willing to bet that Orks will get a special charactor that allows them to take additional planes when their codex gets redone.
@doug- I agree it would not be the funnest list to play in a game but I will bet as the FAQ's come out we will see flyers taking more risks and more armies having ways to deal with them. GW has already stated they will update FAQ's more often so hopefully we will see some fixes coming that way.
@aaron- I agree with you too. Agains smaller armies this list would rule easily but against a horde list that can cover the table I think it is a whole different story. The flyers would spend the entire game zipping off the table as there is no place to land hehe.

The bigest thing to remember is that Independant Characters always count for the reserve total, even if you put them with a squad in a flyer or droppod. So if you have two IC's you will always have to have something start on the table. If you have only one IC you can still reserve everything as round up what you can reserve.

remember, if you reserve everything you lose the game automatically at the end of turn 1, because you have no units on the table. Maybe I should start taking a unit of 3 basilisks to fight lists like this... bombard the 1 unit on the table, kill it turn 1, and then auto-win because their fliers don't come on until turn 2.

A drop Pod list can reserve everything and suffer no ill effects. I had forgotten you lost if you had no models on the table in 6th so yeah killing their anchor squad is effective. But like i said initially the all flyer list has so many actual realistic problems, even now. Just wait til the new wave of codices get Flakk missiles or more things with skyfire/interceptor. The other side of that coin is if you are unprepared for Flyers, then yes you will get tabled very quickly as seen in that video. So I say go for it spend $500 on 8 flyers so that you can win a few tournaments on the front end of 6th and then have them collect dust in a year or so.
