I was going to just post a new thread about allowing the new chaos codex in to the GT.
I am whole heartedly AGAINST allowing the new chaos codex into the GT. While i am chomping at the bit to play the new codex, there is oNO WAY my army will be ready in time.
The minute the codex hits the shelves, my army will be illegal. The rumored moving of cult troops to elites really hurts my army. I have 1 of each of the cults in my troops slot. That being the case i would have to paint a minimum of 3 troops( i believe in taking 4 troops). That's not counting all the new units themsleves.
Thats not counting all the arm swaps, basing, painting and learning to play the codex itself.
Im not threatning the TO's or being all doom and gloom and stuff.
In short, unless we play the old chaos codex i will be UNABLE to attend the GT. I have played orks the last couple of GT's and am tired of them, not to mention the fact i havent played them at all in 6th edition yet.
Just my 2 cents.

There are plenty of csm players there with armies already based and painted ready to dust off their stuff and add some new hotness and be ready by then though which is how I intended that post to sound, I have a natural ability to rant unfortunately lol

For this tournament, will you guys be using:
Warlord Traits, random terrain features (mysterious forests and what not), and random objectives?
Personally I think they are fun and with proper rolling alleviate flyer issues.
In addition, is there any chance at getting some primer missions in the near future to practice the missions?

I personally do not care if chaos is allowed or not but I can see Evil_red_orks point, if marked CSM's go to elites it removes alot of CSM players' troop base and for an even you pay $60+(travel/food/prep) you really should have the time you like to assemble/paint the army you bring, but on the other hand im sure there are people who would rather rush the painting to use the "new hotness" in the GT.
EDIT: @ JHobin ahh i dont really follow the rumors for CSM, so yea that could work then but i think they will stick to the 30 day rule maybe? so if it IS released by the 6th then it should be in
@ stillfrosty I am not a part of the GT staff but I think warlord traits will be used, along with the mysterious objectives, but I do not think mysterious terrain will be in effect, but who knows...

I think the current rumor mill says marked lords (Sorcerer in Tzeentch case) or named character's unlocks cult units to the troop slot. I don't think cult play lists are going to be invalidated.
I'm still on the fence on what army I'm going to bring, I'm leaning towards Tau right now, but the new codex is tempting me to bring my 1Ksons. I will not bring them under the current 'dex though.

I understand that cult lists wont be invalidated, but right now im using 1 of each of the cult troops. Unless I can have 4 marked lords my army is useless.
It would be cool if I could bring two marked lords for any 2 cults to make them troops, then I could throw the other 2 in elites. Throw in the HQ sorc, and I could still atleast run 3 cult troops.
Anyway, somehow I make it work.

Terry, from what I understand, taking abaddon allows you to run all 4 as troop choices as he has all 4 marks. Now we will not know for sure until we get the codex on saturday but that is my understanding from what I've heard.

Interesting. I had heard he makes Chosen as troops but did not think about the mark issue.

Just an update to everyone. I am waiting to get together with the "others" so we can update the website. Unfortunatley this is beyond my capabilities (as broad as they are;)) Please be patient another day or so and many of your questions should be answered.
Thanks again,
Shaun

So is the 40k team event going to be 1850 points? Same as the GT?

Yes there is a doubles tournament for Fantasy on the Friday. I believe there may be a posting under the website under the fantasy tab at the top.
It is believed that the 40k limit will be 1850. The people running it are putting the final touches on the rules and they should be up in the next few days.
Thanks.

In terms of the fantasy doubles, check out the Da Boyz thread in the fantasy tourney section. You can also go to the DaBoyzGt.com site.
If that's not enough for you, send Brian Moyer (you can get his info off the GT site). I think he's responded to every email I've ever sent him within an hour.
He's put in some cool rules for wood elves that make them more playable. Check em out.
