All good with me.
We can have Kevin as a fall back ref if you want and if he wears stripes. I would hope we won't need one tho. It it comes down to a close cover call, assault roll, or scoring distance, we can 4+ it or I'll concede the point to you and be happy that it was just that close. The act of us playing and enjoying the game is more important than a close call that effects the final outcome.
I'm using the same list I used at the September event, will use at the October event, and the GT. Nothing special up my sleeve for this one. You can even read my batreps from previous games. Yes, it has 3 named characters but Kevin has crushed it with ease with his Tau-Dar so it's not broken good.

You guys are sooo cold hehehe. Actually the biggest reason I travel to events is the people. Hell at the Kalm this year my army was not even done and I still played it so neener neener neener. I cant be Stelek...I dont have a possy....and yes I spelled that right hehehe.

Guess what? There are people at local events too! ;D September brought in 18 real live people and October may bring more if the Erie, Binghampton, and Buffalo guys come up. I remember regular monthly events in 2010 that pushed 24+ in the old location. The new edition and format compromises have done a lot to rekindle interest and support. Maybe we would have even more if people knew they could come check out the army that won Best Appearance at NOVA 2012. The December invitational will have painting scored and it looks like you haven't qualified yet Joe. October is your last chance unless you're planning on winning DaBoyz GT ;D I'll tell you what, if I win the Geekiest Gladiator challenge, I'll score painting in the event I host and even award equal prize support for best painted and undefeated player.

Y'all should take this up to 11.
A good player can win with any army. You should each make your lists and then swap armies before spinning any dice.

Y'all should take this up to 11. A good player can win with any army. You should each make your lists and then swap armies before spinning any dice. While I agree with your assertion, this isn't about being the best player or winning with any army (at least for me). I don't want it to be who can design the worst list and pass it off on their opponent. It's about actually playing the game instead of fighting over it. I know Doug is a good and decent player. Hell, he was voted best sportsman in the last Malifaux event. I would like to think people who have played me would think I am also a good person and decent player. It's about putting a stop to the escalating smack talking, trolling, and flaming that has been diving the community and turning some people off. Speaking of all that, I think Kevin is on to something. The end of days is near! Doug declared a smack talk cease fire. Joe may attend a "Hulk Smash" local event with no painting score. It's almost like we're a community again (knock on wood). Next thing we know, Steve will have red blood angels, Ben will be playing his own army, and C4 will be finishing his games faster than anyone else! Lets get ready to rumble indeed! Booking Bruce Buffer might be a long shot, but a ring girl in a bikini announcing the start of each turn would add much more to the event. Maybe Trevor can screen some RIT sorority girls and find a winner. It's hard work to pay your way through college and all.

I don't want it to be who can design the worst list and pass it off on their opponent. The expectation was never that you would purposefully design a crappy list for the purpose of the challenge. That would be unsportsmanly. It's about putting a stop to the escalating smack talking, trolling, and flaming that has been diving the community and turning some people off. One of the founding tenets of Da Boyz was to talk more smack than you could ever possibly hope of backing up. Just talk to Iron Warrior, last time we de-escalated the smack talk on the board it got incredibly silent around here.

One of the founding tenets of Da Boyz was to talk more smack than you could ever possibly hope of backing up. This is the first I've heard of this tenet. Here's DaBoyz philosophy written out as I discovered it when I was an inquisitive newcomer. daboyzgt.wordpress.com/warhammer-40k/"Painting, army composition, and sportsmanship are very important to the overall experience of a Da Boyz tournament, and players who bring a creative, well crafted army with a good attitude are generously rewarded." Nothing in there about talking more smack than you can back up. Not to rehash the past, but contradictions to the emphasized items are what got us to this point to start with. Smack talk is fine with me if it's game related and relevant. Courtney, Kevin, and a few others pull this off well. You can smack talk someone without calling them an a22hole, backstabbing biatch, or bringing their job, family, and personal life into it. (Not attacking you Doug, just using past discussions as reference). If smack talk was a founding tenet of DaBoyz, maybe the website and documentation should be updated so the new guys know what to expect. If you walk into your first event expecting "... painting, army composition, and sportsmanship ... and players who bring a creative, well crafted army with a good attitude ..." and get the exact opposite, you aren't going to have a good feeling about the club and its members.

This is true. It's all about the smack talk and having fun. Its not malicious, mean or ment to degrade someone, its just witty (or not) banter between friends. For example, nearly every sunday I walk into boldos and the first person I see I say, "Hey ((Insert name)), Whats up female dog?" Then I look for Doug and make some smart ass comment about how he is old, or bald or bad at 40k, then shred Shuan if he is there. And I usually get it back just as good. We all have a laugh cause its all in good fun.

Back on topic... Doug if you wanna go crazy and tear through the new CSM codex (if it's released that day) and whip up a list to play right away I'm OK with that also. If you're following the leaks like a bloodhound, you'll prolly have everything figured out by then. I think the DE and GK leaks the week before release were pretty spot on if I remember correctly.
Just throwing it out there. I'm up for anything really. I don't have to play my DE if you want to face another army specifically.
Two requests for a live feed so far. I knew you weirdos would eat this crap up. ;D I guess I can keep you jokers happy and Doug off my back by letting him beat me down on the table top.

C4 will be finishing his games faster than anyone else! Let's not get crazy now!!!! You know Aaron maybe that is an error on the perspective of all us "old timers" here. I thought you were aware of who the DaBoyz are, or at least used to be, and what they stood for. OK, fellows lets all gather around the campfire while I tell you a little story... DaBoyz was started by several games who hit upon 40K and liked it. They liked each others company and formed a loose knit club of sorts. The founding members are all pictured in a photo that hangs in the upstairs at Boldo's. The people in the photo are ( please correct me if I miss anyone): Shaun Kemp Jay Woodcock Chris Cortney Tom Loney Mike Norton Jeff Hobin Eric Hobin Paul Pachecco John Sam Various other members were also added to the group like Ron Lobdell, Jeremy Holcomn, Matt O'Hara, Mike Hendrick, Ben Kantor, Dave Freeman, Rob Merlie, Rob Smithgal and the person who recruited me, Rob Aufar more manly than me. Newer members have come since then too. There was never a set initiation process that I was aware of but a general like and promotion for the hobby. At one time on an old website there were a loose set of rules that were like steps towards a merit badge that you were expected to fulfill. They were ( Again add to this if you like): 1) Talk smack ( the more the merrier). 2) Use soap 3) Build and paint your army 4) Never show up at an event with an unpainted army 5) Drink with your friends ( Kemp made Knob Creek the "official" DaBoyz alcohol ) 6) Attend at least 3 out of town events ( something like that ) 7) Place in the top 10 in an event containing 50 or more. 8) Accept all challenges. ...Help me out. Guys used to rotate their armies after a victory. You didn't see the same old list over and over again. We mixed things up and played crazy and stupid crap along with the tough as nails stuff too. What you heard talked about more what the things that went wrong horribly, and the unexpected. Winning and losing wasn't the focus unless you were trying to shame a player into a rematch. Basically the game was the reason that we as a group came together but not necessarily the reason that the friendships have remained. The best thing about this group was never the name, the shirts or any of the other garbage but being around people we cared about people that we liked. Alot has changed since that old photo was taken. 40K has gone through several edition changed, codices have come and gone, models have been added, stores and tournaments have changed but if you ask any of us "cranky old men" about being part of DaBoyz overall you will get some pretty positive replies. Don't get me wrong... WE FIGHT WE DISAGREE WE ANTAGONIZE EACH OTHER ALOT ( Glad that I have stayed out of it! ) But what remains is what we have found important. The reason I go batcrap crazy here is when I see people focusing on things that don't really mean a squirt of piss. I could care less what the best units of the game are. I don't particularly like when someone focuses on the details of a past game. I get annoyed when I see a new player or an "outsider" who cannot get a game in. Details to me are something you should be picking out with a highlight or drybrush on your minis. I hate the promotion of the power gamers circuit. That was NEVER what DaBoyz tournament was intended to be about, it was intended to be a celebration and a fun time for local gamers to join together and to promote the game locally, not just an event that shows that we are "one of the big boys" and further perpetuate rules and exceptions that are popular on the internet. We need to get back to thinking on our own and caring about our own. I digress... You see, I have always written what I think and what I feel. That's me. I am here to help and always have been. I am grateful for the players we have locally and the friendships that I have made. It means alot to both me and my son. What I don't like are things that take away from the game and the fun times we all can share. It's not about the prizes, its not about the models, the rules, who played what, and why. That never has mattered and never will. What matters is the fun, and the friendships we can take away from this game. Now maybe you understand a bit more about DaBoyz history I hope. That being said... No new Chaos for me in our game, but thanks for the offer! There will be plenty of time for all that new evilness later. I will bring a solid army and you will get my A game. It will be fun, but I will not fall on my sword either. There will be blood!!! UPDATE!!!! Kevin has graciously agreed to be the official Keeper of the Facts and the ultimate final word if any questions arise. I don't believe that there will be any issues but I would rather have him in place than some substitute NFL ref just in case! ;D

OK, fellows lets all gather around the campfire while I tell you a little story... See that story is more much valuable than the watered down mission statement on the website. Thanks for breaking it down for me.
