What units really cause you concern when your opponent drops it on the table? What make you think to yourself "Great, what am I going to do about THAT??!!!" Not looking for a big female dog session on how such & such is soo broken, just personal nemesis units that always give you trouble.
My top 5:
1: WARDANCERS. 360 movement, pick appropriate dance abilities - especially the extra attack one, and god forbid theres a wardancer character in the unit to add even more beatdown!
2: RATLING GUN TEAMS. Ugh - auto hitting, not targettable unless played by a schmoe, even if you can finally reach it/them, the stand & shoot still might be enough to take you down.
3: PEGASUS KNIGHTS. 360 movement 20" charge to pick hit you where its going to hurt the most, armored AND a ward save, ST5 and a couple St4 attacks.
4: SPIRIT HOSTS. Kinda funny, I know, but these things aways manage to be far far away from my magic weapon, they move alot faster than I'm ever ready for.
5: BIG SALAMANDER PACKS. Another auto hit stooter, but fear causing and actually fight back when in H2H. A unit of one is nothing, but 3 of them just chew up my units faster than I can get to them.

I haven't been playing that long, so I won't have a full list, but I do have a few items I have learned tohate with my goblins.
1) Flying Terror. Dragon, Manticore, whatever. Had a dragon plop in the middle of my army one game and watched two thirds of them run right off the table. It was absolutely hysterical, but at the same time, frustrating from a game point of view.
2) Tomb king Scorpions. They just pop up, and there isn't much you can do to stop them.
Other than that, I haven't really had enough experience. And since I play Goblins, I pretty much expect that something in every army is goig to cause me problems. And it can be a normal unit that does it. You never know.

From an Undead view point:
1. OG great shaman with knobbly staff. I know what to do but I hate seeing them.
2. Dryads. They just eat undead up (and most other things) and are almost worthless to go after.
3. 6 sally packs. John mentioned 3 but try playing against 6. I'd rather get kicked in the ding-ding.
4. wardancers. Even ranked units with the charge will get biatch-slapped. Their maneuverability and 4+ ward dance makes them a tough nut to crack.
5. Any special characters. Often there is a small pamphlet of rules involved with each and every one of them. Its really easy to miss something very important about the special character will will invariably bite me in the a$$ later on.

War machines - every army i have ever played has had "elements" that are point sinks when i play against armies with "good" warmachines. By these I mean cannon types and bolt throwers. Theres nothing like watching your 205 pt giant or 180 point chariot have to hide cause there is a cannon that almost automatically hits or a bolt thrower that hits on a 2+.

3. 6 sally packs. John mentioned 3 but try playing against 6. I'd rather get kicked in the ding-ding. I'm pretty sure playing against six IS getting kicked in the ding-ding. Good point on mentioning "I know what to do, but..." I failed to mention that; dont want to encourage the forthcoming "well learn how to deal with them, dumba$$" posts!

That Big guy, that plays fantasy at Millienium, that has a beard, is about in his mid 40's, smells kinda funky.
That Tall Blonde guy, that owns Boldos, wears glasses and overalls with sandals, sometimes a cloak. He is Absolutley terrifying!

Hmm, stuff that scares me in fantasy?
1. 15 magic dice, you know the type of army, could be chaos, could be magic heavy skaven, etc, you just look at your 4-5 dispel dice and wonder "now what do i do?"
2. Steam tank. No questions asked, either you know you have what it takes to kill a steam tank or you don't.
3. Playing alex, possibly with a steam tank...

"Hey look you got first turn, how about this, Ill take off 30 models, move my troops forward and we can call it turn 2?"

Hmm
No real order to these:
1) The Great Unclean One - Nigh Unkillable, A beat-stick, and its a lvl 4 caster to boot.
2) Any Elf/Human Hero on a Pegasus - They always beat me up on the flanks of my army.
3) Dwarven Thunderers - because they have so much hitting power and are tough to kill in hand-to-hand without a serious combat unit.
4) The Scrap Launcher - It shouldn't just pick units off the board, yet it always seems too. Not to shabby in H2H either.
5) Cannons - Kiss my Chariots goodbye, plus grapshot if any Harpies/Pegasi Riders get too close.

Really? I did get REALLY lucky against Orville that one night and made his wizard lord and unit run off the table first turn. But I think thats the only notable thing ive ever seen it do. It is a solid unit in HTH its shooting seem to be blah-ish, str 3, Ordance template (thats the big one to you non 40k gamers) and you get saves vs it. Maybe you just ran into a streak of bad luck (or good luck for the ogre player hehe) against it.
edit: hehe nm, I see where you said "Its shouldnt but it does"

What a great post. I am not easily scared by things but more upset at them in this order
1 Cheaters 2 wardancers -- I am really sorry to Jason but these are the worst built unit in the game. 3 Steam Tank -- I hate things which are so confusing that it requires 8 pages of special rules 4 Ratling guns -- see steam tank 5 Staff of change -- really lots of dice suck but when they refuse to miscast this is the great shaman in spades.

Having done the massive magic dice pool, I must mention that no-one seemed too scared by it when it was run by goblins. Admitadly, my shamans were the most effective part of my army, but I think most people are willing to put up with it when they know the rest of the army is more likely to stab itself in the foot than do something useful.

Boldo forgot chariots. He's deathly afraid of chariots.
