I've heard there are a few people interested in playing. I would advise that you hold off on buying the current rulebook and wait for the 2nd edition which would be out next month. There are plenty of us around the store that own the current book and would loan it to you to read (can't speak for the others but I would). We would also sit with you and go over a list of whatever army your interested in. As for those with the current book all ready, heres the spin off of battlefront about getting the free update;
Greetings to you all as I bring you up to date on what you need to do to get hold of your “free’ copy of Flames of War second edition next month.
The plan for this is nice and simple as we are trying to make it as easy as we can for all of you to get hold of your new rules on the day of the release on the 6th July. What we need you to do during the month of June is let your local retailer know that you will be coming along to his/her store to collect your copy on or just after release day. We need you to do this during June to make sure we send out the right number of copies at the end of the month to each store so that on release day nobody gets left out. It does not matter where you bought the book from, whether a store or mail-order, as long as the store who is going to give you your free copy knows in advance we will make sure they have enough to meet demand.
If you bought the copy mail-order and are unable to get to a local retailer all you need to do is get in touch with us directly and we will make sure you get looked after. Please get in touch with us after next weeks update when the full “how to guide” for getting the book direct will be sorted.
The “mini” version of the new rulebook is not really “mini” at all as it comes in at 164 pages of full colour excitement. You are not getting a cut down version in any way as these 164 pages, which is why it is 164 pages, are the core of the main book and give you all you need to play the game. The A5 format is a great size and will give you a gaming copy to play with and dog-ear whilst you cherish and care for your 280 page hardback version as you do with all good books. For any of you that think you can wait for the extra month and just pick up the main book I say, okay, but trust me and please set aside the time to get your hands on the “mini” version as aside from having a month to get to grips with the rules before the main one comes out you will regret not getting it when they are all gone. We are only going to be able to do this once and when they are gone they are gone.
To finish this week we have shown you the artwork for the new rulebook and you can read all about the mid-war compilations in Phil’s article. That’s it for me this week but I have our new planes and scenery range to show you with over the next few weeks as well as a more detailed look at second edition so things are really starting to get exciting.
