All right, My tentative first night is going to be Sunday the 29th starting 1-2 and goin' as late as everyone wants to play. The campaign takes place in Faerun and I'm converting the keep on Shadowfell module into that setting to give the campaign a nice proper start. I will be injecting published adventures into the mix so that my particular thought process doesn't flavor the campaign too much. We will start at level 1 since level 1 characters no longer suck balls in the same bulk quantities as they did before, and start with keep of shadowfell and move on from there, and the forgotten realms book comes out in august to make up for any knowledge that reading 30+ books set in the realm doesn't provide.
The party will consist of 5 adventurers(provided solman and his wife are both in) otherwise ill keep it to 4. 3 player's classes have been selected allready and I would like 1 of each of the 4 types included in the group. Here is the current player list and there chosen classes thus far: Norton: Rogue -striker Bob: Wizard -controller Paul: Paladin -protector Solman: Ranger -striker Candice: Cleric -leader As far as character generation goes you can select any of the 3 methods featured in the players guide but if your goin' for method 3 and rolling for stats you gotta roll for em in front of me. Besides that make a back story for your Character and include a few open ended hooks that I can incorperate into the campaign but don't be conclusive because I'm deciding how you all became a close knit group of ass kickers/child rapists or whatever you want to be.
Basically were gonna play every other week, but that will be just the first schedual we can agree on, if we can all make time on other days I have nothin' against getting sessions in on those times and thats actually how I would prefer it. If any one has any questions just post here and I will be adding all info concerning this campaign to this thread until further notice.

OK Candice (my wife) and I are in, but For that weekend only, Sunday is best, if that works for everyone as we have plans for a month for Saturday. We are committed to gaming though, so we'll figure something out if we need to. We can commit to every other weekend, Sundays after 7 for kid weekends, or pretty much any week night as long as it's not too late. Candice would really like to play a priest. (one of the few people who EVER want to ) I can play the warlord if you want still, but am wondering as I read through the rules if our party might be better suited with a second striker or defender instead of a second leader?? Let me know what you guys think.

Sunday is the day then unless something wierd comes up, But in order for sunday to work out its gotta be earlyer as i dont want our first session to time out cuz of work or some other secondary ass crap. It is absolutly awesome if candice was priest, which would be a leader if it had been included in the 4th edition player's guide. If she is a cleric that would be great, then we would need another striker for sure. I just wanted to cover all the roles and the only one not taken was leader. I have no doubt your commited to the game as you have been an awesome sportsman while playin 40k and everygame against you has been fun. And getting someone who wants to be main healer is a nice bonus, i just hope cleric holds the same appeal for candice as roleplaying a priest. She can be a mace swingin priest of ass kickery.......that wears armor and is called a cleric. Priest smash!!!

Cleric/Priest are essentially one and the same in my mind. The "offical" class title is Cleric, that's what I meant when i said she wanted to play a priest. Anytime after say noon on that Sunday works for us, we can talk more about it and some questions I have for you on Thursday.

True, they are, and remember this is my first Campaign in over 10 years. I have read all 3 books and am good on the rules, but I will be by far the least experienced D&D player in the group. Its not so bad in my case since im D.M. I just have to be rock solid on the core rules, let you guys handle your own characters and i can focus on orchestrating the best adventure and strory i can come up with. I picked a group of people that will pretty much eliminate all the deuche bag crap that goes around some games were players use D&D to try and be clever about breaking the campaign as i'm the kind of person who would just blast them off there chair with my elbow to there face as apposed to letting them ruin everyone's elses good time. Unless what there doin is legitimatley funny. I dont appose funny.

Funny is good. We like funny. We like to play for the fun of the game, it's not us vs the DM, the DM's job is to make the game fun and challenging for the party. It's the parties job to be up to the task and roll with it.
BTW, I'm leaning toward either Warlock or Ranger, but haven't decided for sure, I need to do some more reading and will make a decision soon. What time and where for Sunday the 29th?

Thats perfect, I would love to see you take either of those classes. No rush, just pick the one that interests you most since both classes fill that spot great. Im thinkin since you said after noon on sunday im thinking well try to start 1-2ish on sunday the 29th and from then on it will be sat unless something comes up and we have to switch the day, which with a ittle foward notice is no prob anyway.

We've been looking for a game for awhile now. I'm a little disappointed with some of the changes, but am reserving over all judgment for after I play a few sessions. Oh and Tommy... Get a grip man! ;D ;D ;D

I'm confident this campaign will be fun as hell regardless of rules that have changed since 3rd. I think that any complaints about the new rules will fade into the background as soon as you guys start stomping around the sword coast stabbin' fools. The game starts in a week from today so don't wait too long to get me those back story's, and you can be as creative as you want as long as nobody wants to be drizzt's brother or some wacky crap.

Chris, Did you still want to get together before that Sunday to have a discussion about new rules and questions we have? You had mentioned it in passing last Thursday. Let me know. Most evenings this week will work for us except Wednesday, and we should e available by 6pm on any of them.
BTW. I've decided on Dragon Born Ranger and will get my back story to you in the next day or two. Candice is playing a humman cleric as discussed earlier and she'll have her back story ready soon too.

Well our first session was great except for the loss of a friend. Looking past that we did have a great time and ironed out most of the rules and playing styles and had lots of laughs.... really looking forward to our next game it was great to meet people just as inthused as I was about d and d..
R.I.P. shane--- you rocked

I wishI had time to make it to these D&D sessions. Its been hard enough to make time for Warhammer 40k. You should write up a reveiw of the events I installed my copy of Baldur's Gate 2 for the PC, so i guess that will have to do for now!
