if your expecting a really different army every week, alot of people would have a problem with that... alot of people dont have huge armies that they can mix and match different things into, alot of 40k players i know write a 1850 or 2000 list and work up to getting that list done, without a lot of extras

I was checking variety and it appears to me that only necrons are variety challenged. Dark eldar can take the following 1 warriors with 2 shredders 2 warriors with 2 blasters 3 warriors with 1 blaster and 1 shredder 4 warriors with 2 dark lances and 2 shredders 5 warriors with 2 splinter cannons 6 warriors with 1 dark lance and 1 splinter cannon 7 warriors with 2 shredders and 2 dark lances 8 warriors with 2 shredders and 2 splinter cannons exc This is a lot of choices to me. Boldo OK you're right on that. I'm just so used to running warriors as either strictly anti-tank or anti-troop that I was thinking there were only 2 setups. I guess I need to change things up a bit.

i'm good with this idea. I would just have to choose an army to play.

I understand that many people have what they have but if you play 2000 and we set the total at 1750 then you should be able to do this is what I am asking is that people play something other than a melta and plasma. Mix it up and most should be able to do this.

There is this store called Boldos Armory and they will sell you "New Stuff!!!" I have not checked with the owner to confirm this but i know he reads the boards and can confirm if he will sell you more stuff.

Shredders, blasters, dark lances, meltas, and plasma guns oh my ... Boldo, you have certainly come a long way since the days when all you knew about were lightning claws!
I know its been ages since I was a Thursday night regular, but I would be interested in participating in a Dec-Jan 40k league.

I can't commit for sure yet, but I am interested. Thursdays aren't bad for me at the moment.
Also, a thought. Who says the point limit has to stay the same. I'm not necessarily talking about escalation, but you can easily set different point sizes each week to get more variety. Also keeps people on their toes for planning and strategizing.

I can't wait to start playing with Tacticle squads with a mix of Blasters, Fusion Guns, and Melta's.
Then i can mix it up by swapping out heavy weapons like dark lances, bright lances and heavy gaus cannons.
(what? it's not like boldo will know the difference:))

There are three comp ideas for 40k I have been throwing around. Something like requiring one of each of these to be taken before a second one of any type could be taken? Sounds like a good idea. I like the intent, but this may be more harsh on some armies than others. The new codexes are not written in a way that this seems as feasible as it did in the past. There are some units that are just plain good without adding options to them, where other units actually cannot be taken without paying for options. And other units that would be really good in an environment where option points are limited. The outcome of games could be determined by army construction. Some good ideas and intent. Needs a bit of polishing in my opinion.

I think the league format would be 3 pts for a win and 1 pt for a draw. I thought the last league that went on there was discussion about giving 1 point for a loss, 2 for a draw and 3 for a win to reward the folks that at least show up and play. Especially since last league went on for a while and we lost interest. Shorter length would definitely be better and keep that from happening, but it also seems that by giving 3 points for a win we should pretty much just track the number of wins everyone has. And we'll also probably get armies geared towards the win instead of something fun that people want to play with. Opinions stated, and you know the deal with them.

I like the idea of some type of comp system, though I'm not sure how best to do it. Having a variety of options in your list is also a good idea, though I'm not sure that limiting each option to 1 per list is the way to go with this. I like the idea of one of each before duplicates, though.
I also agree with Ben, there should be points for a loss to keep people interested.
Maybe points for comp and/or painting?

We could do an "escalation week" everyone paints a new unit for the week. maybe give prizes out for: best painted best conversion best theme
edit: These prizes are intended for the escalaion week only.

With extra prizes, we'd probably need to up the entry fee to cover costs. What price tag were you thinking Boldo? I can't afford much this time of year.
