+ORK.62C.01 – Q: Can an Independent Character (such as a Warboss on a bike) join Snikrot‟s unit before the game and arrive with them via „Ambush‟? A: Yes, as Snikrot‟s ability applies to the unit (which a joined IC is part of) [clarification].
+SM.92.01 – Q: Can another Independent Character join Shrike (and his unit) before the game and gain the infiltrate special rule? A: Yes, as Shrike‟s ability applies to all models in the unit (which includes ICs joined to it) [clarification].
I am not a fan of either of these judgements and doubt you will see much of this locally. But Expect to see guys like Lysander and a crapload of termies with Shrike at national events.

Wow, INAT follows RAW for once It may seem like a big deal, but considering the price you pay to add extra ICs it isn't all that bad. Same anti-deathstar tactics apply: feed it junk, focus on the mission/army at hand.

inat is NOT following raw with this... but whatever.
if someone wants to put ghaz + snickrot + kommandos behind my lines, well, they can sure as hell go ahead and try it. I don't think it would be overly effective, especially as ghaz is in mega armor, and is slow and purposeful. a regular warboss + snickrot would probably be more dangerous, but not unstoppable by any means.
lysander + shrike + terminators, again, isn't THAT scary. 10 terminators + lysander + shrike is 800 points... and they'd never get a first turn charge off, needing to start 18" from anything in sight, and they'd only move that far if they managed to roll a 6" fleet.

...and this is the reason why we will limit the upcoming GT to only one named character. I don't know what is worse the IFAIL's interpretation of rules or GW lack to FAQ them.

Hey, it caught on ;D Seriously though, horst put the whole thing into perspective quite nicely. Seems nasty on paper, but on the table it doesn't matter for much. I really hope the GT doesn't outright ban multiple SCs, it just seems short-sighted and not particularly fair.

i think the gt should allow one HQ SLOT of special characters. IE: Daemons. They should be allowed to have one slot (meaning two) of characters. I think that ban is just wrong on the armies like that because it takes out one of their pros. If their special ability is a lot of hqs, allow them to take one slot for them, like everyone else has.
Furthermore, it should just be a limit on HQ named characters. Youre telling me that you would penalize someone for taking Tellion and Khan? The squad characters are never good, and mostly for fluff.

The squad characters are never good, and mostly for fluff. that. even the one-shot-army isnt a game changer, more of a scare tactic really (even though hes not a squad upgrade per say)

well, attaching 2 warboss to a unit of kommando's with snikrot seems like it would be a bit overpowered. 1 warboss is alright to deal with... 2 of them, and it would be d**n near unstoppable, without a dedicated assault unit to engage them.

im not really up on the new rules, so im not sure what the one shot army is. maybe some got good. i was referring to like the wolf guard termi guy who is good, but like 200 pts, the changling, the flesh hound one, tellion, etc. maybe some are good now, but they really used to suck

Nah, with a unit like that in reserve you send everything to the center of the table. There won't be a serious assault threat and then you just shoot the war boss nonsense unit to pieces.

I have yet to play anyone locally who uses Snikrot. I think the reality of our local meta and the GT is nobody would use that build. I haven't even seen a net list that features that build. Even if someone did, it would be ~400 points, tie up both HQ's, one elite, be non-scoring, and only truly threaten Tau and IG gunlines and castlers. With nobz, meganobz, burnas, and lootas available to compete for elites, I don't think the build will be seen.

I have seen it in person. Many guys in the SE use Snikrot. It is not as affective against MEQ but it is nasty against static armies like shooty eldar and IG. Throw a nasty HQ into the unit and it has potential to tie up your heavy squads allowing the ork mass to move on you quicker. It is not a win all beat all but if used correctly really changes how you fight the orks.

...and this is the reason why we will limit the upcoming GT to only one named character. Too bad any type of decision like this is not based on statistical findings. Let's see now. Based on DaBoyz GT 2009 how many armies in the top five in battle had two special characters? Only one. So your decision is based on a 20% rate of occurrence. Great job.

and how many new codexs have come out since then? some nasty combos have recently come out. id rather play the tourney with the one charactor limit, even if it does screw my army. (which it does)
dont gotta sound like such a thingy.

No, my decision is based on my dislike for the a-hole list that you brought last year. What part about our tournament seeking to promote comp friendly armies didnt you understand? Instead of bringing a balanced middle of the road list you chose to bring some broken crap that sucked the fun out of every game that the unfortunate people who were unlucky enough to play you had to endure. Let's face it, all you care about is winning, and yes, YOU are one of the reasons for this limitation. Good job. I expect you will find some way of bringing some broken crap again this year, and I promise you that you will be rewarded for that as well, or maybe you will stay home, either way it suits me just fine. Anything else you feel like whining about?
