Motto: Punio Tempestus! (Storm of Vengeance)
Symbol: A silver eagle with spread wings on a field of Storm Blue with a single crimson lightning bolt across it's chest.
Colors: Crimson with Storm Blue Trim
Theme: A withering hail of firepower
The Crimson Storm chapter was named after a crimson plasma storm around the planet Balthamel. This plasma storm made long range communication from the planet impossible however, which, coupled with Chapter Master Andus Tempestus' pride in his chapter, was the chapter's undoing. Called upon to join in a great crusade, Chapter Master Andus Tempestus gathered his Crimson Storm chapter, leaving only the initiates, their sergeants, and some keepers of the armoury behind on their recruiting world. Some time after the bulk of the forces left, Ork Warboss Lifecrusha triggered a Waaaagh! on Balthamel. Unable to send a distess call due to fluctuations of the plasma storm, the remaining chapter members fought fiercely to defend their recruiting world. The Waaaagh! was stopped with heavy casualties by the remaining forces of the Crimson Storm, and the planet breathed easy. This moment of respite was not to last however, as an Eldar fleet soon attacked the planet looking for remains of a Craft World. The severely depleted initiates fought bravely for 8 days against the onslaught, but were overwhelmed and the Monastery of the Crimson Storm was annihilated. Returning to Balthamel after the crusade, Andus Tempestus was shocked to find the recruiting world in flames, the initiates slaughtered, the Monastery destroyed, and the people of the planet dead. Andus and his men began a bloody campaign to recapture the planet, even though the monastery was gone and their was no more populace to recruit from. Following the year long campaign to retake the planet, every remaining member of the chapter swore a bloody oath of vengeance against all xenos. Andus Tempestus took the epithet "the Avenger," and the chapter has since been fleet based, slaughtering xenos wherever they find them. While the chapter itself fights to avenge their fallen brothers and the people of Balthamel, the chapter master himself was forever changed. Prior to the return to Balthamel, the chapter master held an unwavering pride in his chapter, always bringing the strongest force he could muster to any engagement. After seeing his homeworld in ruins, Andus Tempestus' eyes were lit with a cold fury. He donned his suit of Terminator Armour and prepared himself to lead every charge against the xenos, determined to be there for his brothers in the way that he wasn't for his planet. The day that the cold fire burning in the chapter master's eyes is extinguished is the day that all xenos in the galaxy will have lost their greatest enemy.
