Any updates on planning actions for DaBOYZGT 2011?
I'd like to help out this year. One thing I'm considering doing is a new table or two to let the event organizers use. I'm still debating whether to go modular board sections, full board or roll out mat. I'm leaning towards a roll out mat since it would fit into my convertible.

I for one cannot wait for da boyz GT this year, last year was my first actualy GT experience and im hooked, cant beat the atmosphere, quality of players/games, and the setup/running was handled very well by all involved!!! There was only one thing i had an issue with(very minute detail) was one or two of the missions but that aside i give this event 4/5 starz!!!
also im curious about a few things for this years GT, i know the dates are set already and its in october, but is it going to be at the same place???
also has anyone come to a conclusion on comp?(i slightly lean to no comp for simplicity but im actually neutral)

The GT is going to be held at the Main Street Armory in downtown Rochester this year. **NOTE: The following is still being worked out** We are looking at a few things for this year like the thought of a split tourney. I will be trying to come up with some sort of comp Rubric, based on your score you will be assigned to either the comp or Non-comp GT. But you will also have the option to just play in the Non-comp GT, which will still have painting and sportsmanship in its score. I hope to hit this topic hard after Adepticon. (note the this is NOT set in stone)

Why the change in venue? Have we out grown the UoR space?
I've never been to the armory but sounds like they don't have their own parking, so there is going to be an added cost to park for this years GT?

The armory will not charge for parking. I understand they would typically charge for other events, but for ours.
The space at the UoR is great, but the problem is getting the university to commit to date. They only typically commit to date 3 to 4 months ahead of time. Setting a date ahead of time is going to open up more possibilities for us. For example you can’t really go after sponsorship until you have date. We had a lot of prizes last year from sponsorship and we are hoping to get more this year with the dates set.

I like the idea of having it closer to downtown, it makes going out for a drink easier. I am in Syracuse now but I will definitely be back for this year's tournament. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I know the program you used last year for pairings and scoring worked but had some bugs and I could definitely help out with error proofing that.

It was hard to tell from their web site about whether the parking lots near them were theirs to use. It sounded as if it was a situation where their is plenty of parking just pay to use it. Would much rather not pay. From the sat view I'm guessing the parking lot on the NW corner of their properties is probably where people would park? One nice perk of the UoR space was having the handy dandy campus shop so close by. Is their a vendor in side the armory or plans to ask a vendor to provide a similar service for drinks / snacks?

The GT is 8 months away there is lots of things to be worked out, like I said before we will be hitting hard AFTER Adepitcon. We do have some things rolling but due to certain incidents from past years and we will NOT be post things until they are set in stone! (when I say "we" I mean Jay and myself) I'm sorry if this comes across as rude but I'm trying to prevent conflicts that occurred in the past. We will keep people in the loop as things get finalized.

Is there a mailing list I can join for the GT? I would really like to make it this year, but to make that happen I need a point total as soon as possible (it takes me FOREVER to build and paint an army so I really need to start now). I really don't want to miss this year's event - any help is appreciated.
As always, thank you for putting these events on. You folks do an awesome job!

Almost 4 months left until Da Boyz GT 2011!
Seems to be quiet on the boards. Has stuff been happening behind the scenes?
