Hello again fellow gamers, Its that time again to run another painting escalation league and I have had a number of people request that we run another one of these events. Ron can have this turn off I will be taking over this year and running this just after the New Years I will give more details later on an exact dates.
For those of you that didnt participate last time or those that are new to my escalation painting Leagues I will explain a little bit about it here.
This League is about PAINTING and developing one of your armies. (Usually a new one). By the completion of this escalation League you should have a fully painted 2000 point army and have played with it from 400 points too 2000 points. Not only will this help you get your army painted but it should give you a feel for your army at various power levels.
Can you use an army that is already painted?
Answer: Yes, but I think your missing the point of the League. Try to use a new army or one not fully painted and modelled which has a great deal of hobby work to do. Its not a requirment, but it would be cool to share the hobby esperience of the rest of the league.
How is the League ran?
Answer: The Escalation League will start at 400 points and every 2 weeks (with exceptions for special circumstances.) you add 200 more points to the list. Each Escalation League Day (sundays.) you play a number of games (usually 2) in a tournamentish setting, You score 3 points for a win, 2 for a Draw, 1 for a Loss. With an extra 2 points per game for arriving with a fully finished painted modelled and based army. (No 3 dots of color just to say you meet the minimums.) Mission, set up, Special rules or Teams determined by Me the "Games Official Director". MANY special rules and senerios could be used so be ready! Example include: Team battles, Jungle Fights, City, Citys of Death, Planet Strike and others.
How Long is it ran for?
Answer: Until we get everyone at 2000 points, usually every 2 weeks. Date may slide according to Holidays and Tournaments etc.
What if my models aren't painted (meaning 3 colors minimum and based)?
Answer: Pleas still show up and play your games. However each week you show with a fully finished army you will get a bonus 2 points. Show up with your stuff not or partly done and you sacrifice these points that week. (Yes showing up with a fully finished force and losing is worth the same 3 points as an unfinished army that wins its game, so get those armies done.)
What if I cant make it one week?
Answer: Most League weeks will involve playing two games of warhammer 40K. At the end of the League we will drop the score of your two lowest games. (This will in effect forgive a single abscent week. Without a loss in league points.)
What if I won awards in the last events?
Answer: The following people will be ineligible to win the following awards with the armies listed. Please play a new force or don't count on winning the a prize in the same category.
Overall: Ron : Orks, Evil Eric: Space Marines, Tommy: Tau Empire, Terry: Orks
Best painting/appearnce/hobby: James: Space Marines, Norton: Chaos Marines, James (Again): Black Templar, Doug: Chaos Marines
What is the Entrance fee and prizes?
Answer: $20 and 1 fully painted and based model. (Of the army you are using.) The money will be split in two. Half going to painting/appearnce/hobby and Half going to Over all. 66% of that Half goes to First place and 33% to Second place. These will be in the form of Boldos Credit. (Nobody will win 2 prizes) (there will be no refunds after the 1st week)
Best painting/appearnce/hobby will be done by a vote of players on the last league week.
The Overall winner will additionally be given a trophy consisting of all the single painted models of all the participants.
Will there be comp scores?
Answer: No no comp scores, but as stated before we will run a number of suprise special rules.
Can i play a imperial armor unit, army.
Answer: This League is mostly about the hobby so yes use those pretty forge world models. (With the exception of Flyers and super heavies.) Additionally those updated forge world lists can be used. I will post a list of the current IA lists.
We had a HUGE turn out and follow through both times so far. Lets do it again!! We all had a great time so continue the pattern. Please only sign up if you can commit to showing for the entire League.
As was done last time the result of each week will be posted here as I track it.
League weeks 400 pts, 600pts and 800 pts will have special army design rules. Showing that these are only small skirmishes without a great deal of high level deployment. People can all start getting prepared.
400 pts, 600pts and 800 pts
No Models with more than 5 toughness
No model with a 2+ armor/invun save
No Vehicle with Armor totaling more than 33 (adding front side and rear once)
1+ Troop Choice
No Special/Unique/Named Characters/units
No More than 1 HQ unit/character (no matter any 2 for 1 rules (but HQ are not required))
