I took Conner to the Baltimore Aquarium 2 years ago and we loved it. If possible, try to go on a weekday as we went on a Saturday and it was packed. Camden Yards is nearby and as a lifelong O's fan we had to get a game in. Lot's of food and shops within the inner harbor as well. My only regret was not finding the Civil War museum as I am a history buff for that time period.
To keep this related to gaming, I'm not sure if the Glen Burnie battle bunker is still open but I remember that only being about a 15 minute or so drive from the harbor. They had a lot of nicely painted armies and Forge World stuff on display.

Cool to hear Mike, we currently have a 65g salthingyer reef system and a 37g salthingyer reef system as my "other hobby". I also wanted to ask you about the sign-up/payment details. I'm on the event badge list (Aaron Stiebitz) from November. What steps do I need to take to sign up for the 40k main even in addition to the badge I have? I mostly dabble in nanoand pico reefs these days ... used to manage aquariums requiring dive gear to clean properly. I'm a little out of the hobbyist loop from time to time, as it seems to advance as fast as ever to the newest and best ideas and gear. With regard to payment - what event badge list? Do you mean that you won a weekend badge or gt ticket at another event?

Pm returned. Also, anyone see brad chester or mike muntscheller around? Each won a spot in the NOVA Invitational, but I haven't heard back from initial emails. Just want to make sure they're properly headsed up and given appropriate prep time if they wish to attend!

Alright, I'm an idiot. I didn't realize that NOVA is in August. I have no idea what I was thinking.
Let me see what I can see finance wise, and I'll get back to you guys.

I went last year... was quite fun actually. Driving 7 hours there and back wasn't exactly fun... but meh, it wasn't bad either Of course, there was ONE guy who tried to ruin all the fun... at the end of our last game, he declared that he was the winner... when I pointed out that i was contesting 2 of the objects, he then tried to say I made illegal moves to contest them. He of course waited until long after I had made these moves to have any problem with them, and after 4 long games my brain was mush. Still, otherwise was a lot of fun. Very glad they are making it so the second day actually has meaning to people besides the people who went 4-0 the first day, it was hard to plan a trip when I wasn't sure if I needed to stay till monday or not.

Well I have my ticket and room. Not sure about the travel part. Someone had been talking about the potential of taking a train which could be neat but not sure of the logistics of it all hehe.

*BUMP*
Some spots still remain for all events, though a decreasing number in a hurry now for the 40k GT (less than 40 left).
Team Tournament, Malifaux, Warmachine/Hordes, Fantasy GT are all fully "primer packet" flushed out, and scheduled, and are all selling at a clipper pace.
Anyone who has signed up, make sure you reserve your hotel rooms ASAP - the sooner you reserve them, the more raffle tix you generate for the 5 prize, $2,000 cash raffle on Sunday.

The Primer Packet has been out for a couple of months now. The direct link is here: www.novaopen.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Primer-2011-GT-Missions-v3.pdfThe final mission packet will release exactly 1 month from the NOVA, but you should not expect any dramatic changes. We've collected roughly 3,000 test game results from the Primer Packet's use globally, including results from GT's and RTT's that have directly copied the primer, and we're pretty happy with the cross-codex and cross-list-style balance of the three present goals. While we might use VP-by-250 as well in a round or two for variety, it is more likely that the final 8 rounds will be flexible variations on goals 1-3 from the primer packet + deployment type, each selected and put together very deliberately for purposes such as how long we want or need given rounds to take on average, and balance for the point in the tournament we're at, etc.

I got the paint packet in the mail, thanks for that. What is the Frankenstein catagory and are all 3 paint scores used for the overall paint scoring?

The Miniature Frankenstein award is for best converted single miniature. Although each of those categories is given a score between 0-100, single miniature paint job and single miniature conversion are only weighted 1/3 the weight of Army Overall Appearance. Effectively your total/100 for army will be factored by "1" and your total/100 for conversion and single mini will each be factored by .3. If you score a 90/100 on Army, 90/100 on Single Mini, and 90/100 on Conversion, it would equate to (.9*1 + .9*.3 + .9*.3)/1.6, so a .9+.27+.27 = 1.44/1.6 With variable #'s, let's say you score only a 50/100 on Army overall, but your best single mini and best conversion each score a 90/100, you'd be at .5+.27+.27 for a 1.04/1.6 ... yatta yatta Our appearance guys are still noodling in on the ideals they want to go with, but that's a good start. There's also a draft explanation of expectations by the chief appearance judge for 40k that we'll be putting up on the blog as soon as he A-OK's my putting his draft up there ... bit of a perfectionist, so he may insist upon polishing off grammar and spelling before I do ... a final explanation packet will release along with final rules and final everything else exactly 1 month before the NOVA.
