i agree on the poorly written part, the quality compared to previous pdf's is horrible...
also, i notice there is no infiltrating in the #2 & 3 missions and no outflank in #2
the #1 mission is out there even for a 'ard boyz mission and what about this models equipment? WYSIWYG?
nightfight on turn 6 of #2 lol i bet 75% of the tables will forget/"forget" that part

Infiltrate, outflank, and scout are USR's and don't need permission from the mission unless it specifically prohibits their use.
It's pretty obvious with the mission format as a word-style document that it's a rough draft, at least I hope. Last year the design was much more formal with graphics and such so I hope they clean it up and streamline the wording.
I believe the "traitor" will have its basic stat-line and no wargear.
Overall, I think they're more balanced than last year's (Hi, every vehicle worth 3kp), but it will be very difficult to get massacres, which is fine by me.

i would imagine a list showing which USR's can be used also can be said is saying which ones cant be used? unless there listing varied combinations of special rules in each mission for no purpose
and yea i really hope this is a rough draft although i cant remember them ever doing it this way before....

Infiltrate, outflank, and scout are USR's and don't need permission from the mission unless it specifically prohibits their use. Actually only infiltrate and scout are USRs Outflank is a mission specail rule along with Reserves and Deepstrike. Missions could make specail refrence to Reserve, Deep Strike and Outflank to restrict their use or even redefine what they do. The battles missions often restrict these and i believe the Spear head senerios did too. Infiltrate and Scout however are USRs and should never be changed.

ok so they updated the mission pdf, its still a crappy looking word document ..
i understand that USR's should apply to the game in general and not the mission, but when it lists infiltrate in one and not the others i think the intent of the mission is to use it when listed..
they also cleared up #1 somewhat, it specifies that the traitor has no wargear or special rules other than IC and it also says a model from your army list, meaning it does reduce the count of a squad you have(meaning no combat squad for that unit??)

Yeah, it's a pretty crappy showing from GW. I haven't played much more than a year, but I don't really get why they would go out of their way to remove infiltrate and outflank from one mission. It's going to piss a lot of people off for no reason.
Anyways, we played mission #2 (no outflank or infiltrate) and it wasn't terrible. Since it's spearhead deployment, normal reserves can still come in the long board edge onto a non-deployment zone objective.
I think most people expected the traitor mechanic to actually remove one troop form the list, but at 2500pts, who really cares? If you're really sweating losing one model, take at least one vanilla marine squad for the one mission...

If you're really sweating losing one model, take at least one vanilla marine squad for the one mission... very true lol

Yup, and as I usually play with around 40 genestealers, I've totally re-written my planned list because of that one mission. Its not just genestealer either.
Sorry wolf scouts, sorry war walkers, mandrakes, vendettas, valkyries, baals, chosen, kroot (and so on). Instead of trying to balance the missions, GW decided to knock the teeth out of your list with a big nerf bat. I guess its just on par with making vehicles 3kp each last year.
Don't worry, I'm not complaining! I've already adjusted the list and I'm ready!
