Malifaux League
The purpose of this league is to give everyone a chance to build, paint, and learn a crew while being exposed to many of the different aspects of the game of Malifaux.
Price: $15 (All goes back into prizes.)
6 2-week periods (Total of 3 months)
Period 1 (2/28-3/13): 30 Soulstone Scrap
Period 2 (3/14-3/27): 35 Soulstone Scrap – Each game must include one of the special terrain features
Period 3 (3/28-4/10): 40 Soulstone Scrap – Each game must include a special event
Period 4 (4/11-4/24): 45 Soulstone Scrap – Each game must include one of the special terrain features
Period 5 (4/25-5/8): 50 Soulstone Brawl – Each game must include a special event
Period 6 (5/9-5/22): 60 Soulstone Brawl – Choose a location and flip twice on the location chart.
2 games per 2 week period
Choose a primary master to build a crew around in an escalation fashion. Henchmen can be chosen, but will require a master during the last two periods to lead in Brawls. (Ex. You are building a Lucius crew. Lucius can not lead in a Brawl, and therefore requires a Master such as Lady J or C. Hoffman.)
Avatars will be allowed starting in period 3.
You will receive 1 point added to your total score for each league member you face. (Ex. 13 players other than you. You play all of them at least once, you get 13 points added at the end.) You may not play the same person twice in one period.
You may play more than 2 games in a period, but only your first two will count. Make sure you report your results, even if it does not count for you. This allows you to help others complete their games. You need to report results still so that I can have all the information.
Each game, you will choose your strategy and schemes. You may not use any strategy more than once during the league. No scheme may be taken more than 3 times in total, and no scheme may be duplicated within a 2 week period. You must try your Master specific Scheme at least once, as well as each of your faction specific schemes. (Extra games will not be counted against your totals. (duh!)) Submit a result sheet FOR EACH PLAYER.
Painting is required, and will be rewarded at the end. You will receive 1 paint point for each game you play with a fully painted crew. This need to be more than just a 3 color minimum. This is a painting league after all. Basing will not be required until Period 4. At the end, all players will be given the opportunity to vote for two crews. Each vote will count for 1 pt added onto the paint total. At least the top two places will be rewarded.
Keep track of Tournament points, Victory Points, and Differentials. Score Sheets will be made available to record results.
Battle Prizes will be based on Victory points plus the number of players you faced off with. Ties will be broken by Tournament points, and then by Differential.
No one will win both a painting and battle prize.
Other Prizes:
Best Opponent - At the end you will cast 2 votes for favorite opponents. The person with the most votes get's the prize.
Best conversion - Once again, 2 votes, person with top vote count wins.
Best basing - Same deal.
Two other non-voted prizes will be awarded. What they are is being kept somewhat quiet.
Travis has graciously offered a 15% discount to all league members for the purchasing of Malifaux products.
Games need to be played at the store, unless some extreme situation comes up. (The spread of the Malifaux plague would be an example, allowing people to go to the injured person for games.)
You may direct any questions, comments, or concerns to me. We have lots of time before this, so we can work out any issues long before we start.
EDIT: Dates have changed. They now overlap the 40k league a bit. If anyone can not cope with both leagues at once, I will allow games to be made up in later weeks. Painting should not be an issue as Malifaux crews are not that big.
EDIT (1/12/12): Detailed the scoring methods. Added Avatar information.
