Gee, look at all those Grey Knight top 16 qualifiers... what a surprise. To anyone playing grey knights in our area(which is a boatload), how about showing a little imagination in your list building. My wife could have prolly won adepticon with any of the typical lists ive seen. Im calling u guys out, chaos shall rule supreme once again!!!! Well said, ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D At least i can say that i played chaos BEFORE the new book came out,.... Again, ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Also i put a little imagination into my lists, and dont spam oblits or lash princes. My sincere compliments to you Terry, I like your list and have told you as much, but please don't pile on oblit spam after all they cost a boatload of money ($225) and points (675) but in the local meta I suppose you are correct. It is only permissible to spam psyfileman dreads, long fangs, thunder wolf lords, purifiers, grey hunters, and grey knight henchmen in chimeras. Everyone walking into the store with $500 in their pocket has the same options for armies. Don't criticize them for going one way with their investment when you went another. Casual games are one thing, but don't fault people who invest $500 in an army and then $10 a month to play 3 games for actually wanting to win games. Strange words to see you speak my friend since you and your buddies whine covertly when anyone plays an army that they have painted and invested in that doesn't meet your stringent approval. Again far be it from me to use the word hypocrite... OK, enough quoting.... Yes, I too saw the Adepticon field that had nearly 40% Grey Knights, followed by Wolves, IG, and BA with no Sisters and Nids. Hey if that is your thing who am I to criticize but I am not alone in saying that the current mirror match meta has made for a pretty boring tournament scene. Fear not Terry, in a few short months you will be playing the Chaos models that you have lovingly painted over this past year and be accused of playing the latest and greatest, most OTT army ever made just because they are good. Either that or you will be in your driveway smashing them with a hammer because their rules suck worse that the ones devised by Alessio and Gav, It's the Circle of Life in the 40K world, all bad armies will be made good again...except of course Sisters. Hakuna Matata!!!

No way a tactical ends up at 12 points. A standard Battle Sister is much worse and costs that much.
GK were 22% of the field at Adepticon and 40% of the finals. For a random sample the chance of this occurring is something like 2%. Naturally it is not random, it has more to do with those GK builds being a very good flexible army without any major/mainstream rock matchups. (unlike Tyranids that could hit a Venom spam DE) Which means very good players chose to take them. Overall the top 16 was about what I expected to see - I thought there would be more space wolves though. I think SW and GK are pretty comparable in power level (same reasons actually, strong troop choices with a good power/cost ratio).
This does not mean all GK players min/max their books. I do think it is a shame you do not want to play your GK army due to the 'hate' Aaron. You put a lot of work into that army, it looks great on the field and no one who sees it could possibly complain it is anything but fun/flavorful/interesting.
As for the finals, a Foot Eldar almost made it (got very unlucky) and I think the Necrons should have won that GK matchup if played differently.

Crons shouldve won, it was poorly played..comprable to wolves? Id agree there too, giving the knights a decent edge with better choices in every category, minus twolves.. Surprisingly there wasnt a huge guard showing in the finals Chaos will come and bring the cheese hard, and tip the scales like they used to do...(again iron warriors come to mind..f**kers) Dark Angels will probably get some badass stuff etc..but the biggest thing is going to be what the rule changes do to the meta...could be drastic, considering when the fantasy rules change the field shifted in power..so lets see what happes?

There will always be a top tier list and it will always be played by the top players. I admit that GK have all the answers but that is what everyone said about my Eldar until 5th ed came along. Leaf Blower's were the flavor of the tournies until BA and SW came along. Dont forget about the Orks and their Nob Biker list. Personally I think all these armies are capeable of winning with the right player. Hell Aaron still does well with Nids and I think that is still a very competitive army. I beat the typical GK list with my footdar at Da Boyz even without eldrad. Dice, mission, and skill still play a part. I played GK long before they were popular and sold my army just before I moved up here because I needed the cash. I have plenty of GK models to build the list but doubt I will simply because I dont want people to accuse me of being "that guy". It is sad that we look at someones army and judge them as a person. That is not what this hobby should be about. I played Aarons GK list at DaBoyz and gave him a run for his money with my footdar. It was a close and fun game and I can not even remember who won heh. Not pointing fingers or trying to make enemies but can we stop jumping on people on public forums and making us look bad as a group? Everyone has a good point but personal bashing makes me less likely to show up and play at any local events. What do you think people no local think when they read our forums?
