actually, a drop pod list would DESTROY the necron air force... drop in on their small squad hiding, unload all your plasma into it turn 1, obliterate it, win.
EASY.

Hey look boys and girls, somebody got a break from his job over at Candy Land and decided to share his wisdom with the rest of us! Let's get this party started, shall we? 1) Where to start, hmmm, first of my "negativity" was in support of Terry. His statement was that this list would not be fun to play and I supported that statement. Hate on me if you want, but when it comes to 40K Terry will play in more hardcore events than I will and when he is expressing his dislike, what does that tell you? 2) Necrons will be at Adepticon in force not because of power armor but because they get reanimation proticols several times during each turn. In many ways its better than a 3+ armor save since yo can get it against a multitude of weapons that power armor does not grant a normal save against. Im surprised someone as knowledgeabe as you would miss something so basic. Couple that with some of the best vehicles and flyers in the game currently and unless our buddy Matt Ward gets his hands into another codex, I think the Crons will remain top tier. While I would like to dream that Chaos will become the new king of the hill, from the rumors I have seen so far my initial thoughts are that they will still be too costly to make up for any new powers that they receive. In a month we will know better, but again I highly doubt Phil Kelly will create anything other than a solid codex. 3) While this list may struggle against a horde list it far makes up for it against balanced or elite builds. Its not without its tricks and with its ability to teleport models out of the night scythes on the later turns it does have the alot of ability to avoid committing its forces until the end when there are needed. Is it the best list around, I never said that, I said it would not be fun to play against. 4) You seem to know a lot about me Aaron or at least you think you do. Just so you know I have played in Canada and met most of the guys who post here and show up at the GT. They are good guys and I didn't say anything to the contrary but playing a list like this isn't fun be it in your precious "mancave" or at a poorly run GT. While this type of list hasnt shown up locally YET, I still bet that it will. Somebody will bring this or some other crap "because they need to practice for the ____ GT" or maybe just because they "feel in love with the models". I never said it wasn't RAW either, and for the record my 9 Obliterators were also RAW as well but you cried worse than a 3 year old with diaper rash when you had to play that LEGAL list. So Aaron, why the double standard? You even whined when I played my Wych Cult in Raiders, a subpar army at best especially under these rules just because I had more than your golden standard of raiders and ravangers in my list. Stop worrying about me and worry about yourself. 5) For the record, I could care less what TO do in their GT tournaments because I most likely wont be there. My idea of fun doesnt revolve around playing a game that by the own designers admission WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE PLAYED COMPETITIVELY. Do what you want at GTs, I could give a squirt of piss, just dont bring your GT ideas of comp, "fairness", rules exclusions, and the like to local events where I am there trying to play a game for fun. Mark my words, a small group of players like you will attempt to ruin this game by restricting whatever isn't "GT friendly". Again I could care less about the GTs but we all know that every game played will then mimic this mess. Example, Can I bring a Fortress? No, they don't allow them at NOVA so we don't allow them either. How about mysterious terrain? Nope its too confusing so we don't want that either. Mysterious objectives? No see the previous answer.Well then how about terrain like lethal terrain? Umm no we will just play with the stuff we like. Am I being far fetched, or do you want the links to the NOVA packet and Reece's proposed changes after he hosted one local event? Yes, the same Reece who proposed going back to 6" charges. In case you missed it I showed up last week and had fun. I will continue to support local events that revolve around the idea that this game is a social interaction and a great way to pass time with friends. Oh and by the way Aaron, thanks for your attempt last week on correcting our game and our terrain set up. Per the rulebook you were wrong again! I will pick this argument up later if that's what you really want but right now I have to get ready for an enjoyable evening of 40K with my "imaginary" friends. Peace and love to all!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The embarked squads in the night scythes do not have to deploy until the end of the game unlike the drop pods where when they arrive from reserves they must deploy. The scythes can fly their troops around until the last few turns and avoid the majority of the plasma shooting like that. Plus Necrons get to reanimate as well. You dont have to commit most of this army until the end. I understand the tactic of going after the squad you have to keep on the board to pull the reserves in with but I still think that a well hidden squad is durable enough to weather most attempts to eliminate it turn 1. Also if you are the Necron player and you see that you are facing a drop pod list you might also change your tactics and what you place on the board as well. Can troops can still deploy independent of their dedicated transports?

Just wait til the new wave of codices get Flakk missiles or more things with skyfire/interceptor. The other side of that coin is if you are unprepared for Flyers, then yes you will get tabled very quickly as seen in that video. Good point Dean but until we see the cost and the abilities of the Flak missiles and whether or not they can be spammed in every army with missile launchers per possible FAQ and errata, flyer heavy lists will still have an upper hand. I am looking forward to upcoming releases to see how this all plays out.

The negativity was calling people "a22es" for playing a certain list or whatever reason you deem worthy of insulting other hobbyists. And for the record, I complained about your 9 oblit/3MC daemon list because you took it to a COMP event that had no entry fee, where the store owner himself sets the format because he doesn't want such WAAC lists in this specific event. That makes you 100 times worse than the guys building necron airforces for competitive events IMO and had I a hammer or flamethrower, I gladly would have done what both you and Terry threatened to do to the OP's army. Your army was WAAC, unfun to play against, and a blatant grab at store credit. If you're missing the point: That makes you the double standard toting hypocrite since you can so openly judge and attack others who build equally "crappy" lists. Oh and sorry for the terrain setup mistake. You know, 2 months in and all. Since every person I've played against also only set up their half of the table and fortification set up is only your half of the table, I was wrong to assume what I did.

There is a new victory condition in 6th: "If at the end of any game turn a player has no models on the battlefield they lose the game" Which is what Horst was quoting. And yes you could deploy your 5 man warrior squads but in the end I still think the drop pods come out on top here. A Drop pod or more per 5 man warrior squad? I don't need to show you mathhammer for you to know its a bad time. Also this is an unlikely scenario to ever come up... ever.

Why do I never get invites to the cock fights? Ill counter everyone with: stop arguing play what the f**k you want its a game of plastic soldiers, simply follow the rules as written they're changed there's no need to amend anything unless the designers amend it..and spend $500-$700 on what models you want to play..but if you copy paste netlists people are gonna give you nuts..here's another idea: if its a random fun game let the people playing decide whether or not they screw up people have been playing for long enough that we've forgotton more rules than what newer guys know..so the lesson is? Hmm its a game, you go pew pew on the table top w plastic soldiers, and to outsiders it reminds them of the 40 yr old virgin..play what you want, tournaments aren't life and death stop taking nuts so seriously and remember to have fun or all your doing is making it like work.... Also Matt Ward will henceforth be referred to as :hey he who shall not be namedl And loyalist space marines are pretty far more manly than me, for the record minus black templar and space wolves

Jeeze man if you're going to try so hard, at least get things right. Oh and sorry for the terrain setup mistake. You know, 2 months in and all. Since every person I've played against also only set up their half of the table and fortification set up is only your half of the table, I was wrong to assume what I did. Now that I am caught up with my work, let's take a few moments to address your latest rant: 1) My facts are straight, as usual. What you are whining about all comes down to opinion, not fact. The fact remains that our opinions are not in agreement. 2) Let's see you are STILL whining about my army. Yes I took 3 MC and 9 Oblits. As my memory serves me, you also took 3 MC (Tervigon, Carnifex, and Tyrant) as well as a maxed squad of Genestealers with a Brood Lord as well as a full squad of Yrgamils. You took more models that were just as deadly (and could create more units as well!) BUT you played your list poorly. THAT is what really bothers you. Yes, it was a comp tourney and although you took variety, that does not mean you took an easy list either. Stop drinking the Millennium Kool-Aid, variety never has been the sole way to judge relative strength of an army but you seem to believe it is. My army wasn't any more WAAC than yours was at that day, AND you had the ability to give me the comp score that you thought I deserved. I had raised issues with comp before that tournament was run, and I had suggested a better way, since pass/fail comp scores most always result in the category being nullified because nearly no one will every zero their opponent, just like when sportsmanship is scored using the same method. Yes, i knew that going into the event, and chose to take my chances with the scoring system that was in place. You also forgot that I earned my place at that tournament by my performance at an earlier event. I deserved to be there and I earned the result that came to pass. 3) No, you are missing the point, just like you usually do. The opinion expressed by Terry was one of disgust and metaphoric rage to the list presented. I concurred. Both Terry and I have played in far more tournaments than you, and just because you don't agree with our opinions does not mean we are not entitled to express them. 5th edition sucked locally because players like you decided what should be played and how it should be played. You decided that everything needed to mirror other events, and if it was being played like this at NOVA, or Adepticon, or wherever, then that was gospel and that was how we had to run our events. THIS drove more people away than anything. Not everyone likes the tournament scene because of list like this. There are a lot of guys like Terry who build armies because they enjoy the fluff, the challenge of painting them, as well as playing them. It isn't about one aspect of the game to them ( the win ) but the complete experience. Look at Terry's Imperial Fists, his Orks, and now his Chaos Marines. He built each army because he liked them, not because the statistic and probability worked, not because they exploited a certain rules set or void, but because he liked them. I played Terry before he won the Boston Brawl several years back. Afterwards I helped him critique his list and suggested a few tweeks to increase the overall power of the list. Terry refused mainly because he wanted to play a fair and balanced list, and prove his skill on the table. He won. Say what you want about me, but when someone like Terry has issues maybe there is a good reason behind them. This list is nothing new. Back in 3rd/4th there were lists just like this, one that comes to mind was the Siren Bomb where a Daemon Prince could take all the minor psychic powers to almost guarantee that he would receive Siren, a power that prohibited the opponent from shooting and initiating charges. It sucked to play against. Since then we have had many more crappy list like the Big Ones, Tervigon Spam, Nob Bikers, Space Wolf Long Fang Spam, Venom Spam, Dragostar, Eldred/Wraithguard. Jet Bike Seer Council, Leafblower, etc, that all concentrate on one particular aspect of the game and using this to achieve victory. Is it fair, yes because it isn't against the rules, but if you can honestly look me in the eye and say it makes for a fun game, then you sir are lying to both me and yourself. That was the point that you once again missed. Dean- i wont needlessly quote you. I understand the new 6th victory condition that can be achieved if you table your opponent before all their reserves arrive. While I agree that it only comes into play in a very limited set of circumstances, I also believe that satisfying this victory condition is much harder to achieve than you realize. When deploying the anchor squad ( or squads ) they can be placed out of line of sight more easily because of their size. Drop pods can also still mishap by scatter off the table correct, so if you deploy close to a board edge as well you are increasing the chance of this occurring while potentially eliminating several vector in which shooting can occur. There also are two courts as well as two mindshackle overlords in this list as well. Can't they also be attached to the anchor squad or squads? Jeremy- No special invitation is ever needed. You step right up and begin spouting off whenever you feel the need, after all this is a smack talk post right? About the only one who should never post in Skythe ( hey, maybe we should have a poll about that!) but you can always chime in with your two cents! WOW, time flies! Only a few more hours before the weekend starts for me. Looking forward to this weekend's team event, it should be fun! PEACE, LOVE AND HARMONY TO ALL!!!!! MSoB is outta here....

1) My facts are straight, as usual. What you are whining about all comes down to opinion, not fact. The fact remains that our opinions are not in agreement. You're facts are straight? In which delusional world do you live in buddy? Let's look at the "facts". 2) Let's see you are STILL whining about my army. Yes I took 3 MC and 9 Oblits. Stop drinking the Millennium Kool-Aid, variety never has been the sole way to judge relative strength of an army but you seem to believe it is. My army wasn't any more WAAC than yours was at that day, Here's my list from that event: Tyranid Prime - whip/sword, toxins, scytals Hive Guard x3 Lictors x2 Ymgarls x7 Termagants x15 + devourers Tervigon - toxins, adrenals, catalyst, stinger salvo Hormagaunts x17 Genestealers x20 + broodlord Spore Mines x3 Biovore Tyrannofex - rupture cannon, shreddershard beetles, stinger salvo Carnifex - tl devourers x2 In case you also need pictures to jog your aging memory: synaps3.blogspot.com/2010/12/millennium-invitational-game-1.htmlNot quite the "facts" that you claim to have gotten right. Lictors (not min or max), hormagaunts (not min, max, or upgraded), a single biovore, oh man and you got it wrong about the tyrant and ymgarls too. If you can look at that list and say my list was as WAAC as yours, you really are in your own world man and nobody will be able to save you. Say what you want about me, but when someone like Terry has issues maybe there is a good reason behind them. Again, you're getting on a soapbox and railing against me for no other reason that Aaron is my name. The only time I have ever disagreed with anything Terry has said was when he accused local GK players of having no imagination or originality. If you actually know anything about me or the armies I build and paint, it's always firstly because I like the models and not a single one has ever fallen into a "bandwagon" build or "WAAC" template. I own Tyranids (lol), GK (no coteaz, crowe, or draigo, no pallies, no purifiers, one rhino, one razorback, one stormraven, etc), and DE (1 venom, 0 raiders, 0 ravagers, nuff said). The last fact you got wrong is I never decided what should be played or how it should be played. I still to this day don't get where you come up with these BS lies. I've never had an influence on any tournament format. I don't whisper suggestions in Travis, Smitty, or Ben's ears. I play in every MG tournament that I can physically attend and ask questions so I get the format right. I have never attended NOVA or Adepticon and have never championed their formats. I'm not on DaBoyz GT council and don't make suggestions to them. I have only written missions and provided personal terrain because it was asked of me. So try again and making up more "facts (lies)" about me. If you actually took the time to get to know me instead of using me as a scapegoat for everything that was wrong with 5th ed, you'll realize like so many other have that I am a passionate hobbyist and that is all.

It's a fairly clear, for whatever, reason you guys don't like each other. Could you just draw pistols at noon by the clock tower or something?
Doug if you don't want to go to GT or be involved in one why jump in to complain about anything having to do with a GT?
Aaron why try to fight Doug's rants? We are all familiar with them. They have been going on for years with different targets. Dragon, Skyth, Tommy, Horst, Chumba, the staff of Da Boyz GT, Games Workshop, Tournament Organizers, the blue fairy that granted Cinderella's wish. The list goes on and on.
What's sad is you both have differing views of the game and both have legitimate ideas. However, all I see is a giant wall of text and think fuk, here we go again. Another harmless topic, pumped full of the tail end of geek testosterone and hairless chest beating.
I am going to talk to the webmaster and see if they can create a new forum topic. Think we will call it The Geek Gladiator pit. After so many people have voted to have you not allowed to post in certain threads you are put in this gladiator pit and you can only post positive things about other members. After a time in banishment the active community votes whether your let out or not. You can also use this area to continue to complain about each other and not make things fun.
Again the problem with you guys is that you can't bust each others balls because your not friends. It's in the Book of Being a Man. Chapter 6 section 8 and reads "When ball-busting another man you must have at least once bought him a beer, rescued him from a troglodyte chick, backed his excuse for being late to his girl or told him it was okay to puke twice and go back to the bar". If you haven't done one of these then you can't bust each others balls.
Oh yeah and Canada or as they would say in Quebec the United States Chapeau, don't take this a$$ kicking personally.

The "why" is quite simple.
"All that is required for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing."
If he is allowed to attack other hobbyists, flame, troll, and create lies without moderators doing anything and without anyone contesting, then the forum will become a ghost town as people become weary of posting anything and the community will suffer.
But I will honor your wish.

Its just ridiculously, id go along with Travis and just say f**k it talk it in man to man and get it over with hell I've got boxing gloves if you both wanna attempt it? I can mailthem to you from NC good ol fort bragg down here and you guys could go all out or just hell we can make a forum topic for just you two and leave the regular discussions to everyone else. Doug: love you man no homo, you're a good dude and helped me out a lot when I first started pitching dice and pew pew with 40k, settle this though its old Aaron: I let you briefly a few years back black and green tyranids guy just starting out no qualms because I don't know you, again just man to man solve the issues
Travis obviously still the man.mucho gratitude for everything throughout the years, if anyone does anything to hurt the business lemme know im a meathead I like confronting people. And can we get back to discussing things civilly? Let's leave the rage for Matt Ward and football season
Hey in the words of rick james: 1 love

You know Aaron, you are correct. When I am wrong I say so and you got me.
It looks like you took 4 MC with a Brood Lord and a full squad of Genestealers. I was indeed off by 3 models in the count on your Ygamils.
i suppose this changes my point that you and you didn't take a WAAC army? Not sure what you are putting in the chocolate over there but if it alters your reality like that maybe you should be selling little squares of it outside the Dead and Phish concerts?
Nice reply Jeremy, no homo, LOL, but you ducked that beatdown I had planned for you when you came home last. still waiting for that game, its always a good time rolling dice with you.
Good points Dean and Steve. Nice to know that we can still have a reasoned discussion intermixed with the rants.
Still no reply from Skythe...
And of course Joe, you are going to win! ( So who are you hiring to play your army at the GT?...LMAO!!!)
And lastly I blame Canada, blame Canada, they aren't even a real country anyway!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
