Been working on finishing up some models, basing, and a modular display board. Here's some shots from the last 2 weeks. The army is getting close!

I'm quite jealous of the maugan ra mini. Nice job on tying them all in together with the paint scheme.

Yeah cause there is nothing else that ties three named special characters from two different codexes like an airbrush, not like any background fluff, comp or theme.....
Sorry Aaron I just couldn't let that one fly, it's in my old school comp 40k nature...seems to be a dieing idea.
The paint jobs are coming out nice, and its good to see more fully painted armies on the tables, bases look good too.

Yeah...heaven forbid if you play an over powered list like guard allied with GK then throw a fortress of redemption in and tie it all together with white paint....oh I mean fluff
I like what you did Aaron and I hope it is competitive.

It's all good. One man's "fluff" is another man's fallacy.
I can understand why some would question my HQ's. Just like I would question someone who uses Coteaz with daemon hosts when the first paragraph in his fluff is:
"Torquemada Coteaz has ever been driven by a single consuming passion: to destroy daemons wheresoever they manifest. Unlike many of his fellow inquisitors of the ordo malleus, Coteaz always refused to comtemplate harnessing the power of the warp for his own ends."
Maybe a brotherhood champion leading a non-brotherhood band of assassins is fluffier?
Or Eldrad, fearless leader of a craftworld known for its seer council and lack of aspect warriors, leading an army with 4 aspects and no seer council.
It's a good thing we play a hobby with such open artistic license. Just too bad there's so many closed minds.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Did you just compare the use of daemon hosts, arguably the worst unit in the Grey knights codex, to taking three named special characters? A unit that Coteaz unlocks and moves to the troops section (so obviously he doesn't like them...right) A unit I take so I can take all the different henchmen not just the best ones in repetition. Your quote :" Coteaz always refused to contemplate harnessing the power of the warp for his own ends" ....he is a lvl 2 psyker that harnesses the power of the warp to his own ends every time he uses a power does he not? Yeah, I think taking a crappy unit of daemon hosts that he unlocks and moves to troops is OK.....
You have baron Sathonyx the Lord Hellion, who moves hellions to troops......not a hellion in the army...zero attempt at theme, not even a close comparison to me taking daemon hosts.
As far as the brotherhood champion are you suggesting I should take the Psychotroke grenade toating inquisitor like every other GK player out there? That sounds fun for my opponent. I have yet to see another Brotherhood Champion played at a tournament, or for that matter daemon-hosts...just wanted to play some stuff that you don't see, or are told to play by the Internet list builders.
It's not like I am taking Maugan Ra, the Phoenix lord of the Dark Reapers...with absolutely no reapers in the army....then joining him to a unit of dark eldar warriors....not even a unit from from his codex.
Yeah Joe, heaven knows the Inquisition has never used the imperial guard before, that's way out of theme.....and I'm really beating people up with that Penal Legion I've been playing with (I think Tommy was the only guy I ever saw play it and that was 10 years ago)...I'm working on the Rough Riders right now too cause that's another unit I never see....really exploiting the powerhouse guard codex.
First year of running the Daboyz tournament without Comp and all these armies that would have even been not allowed or scored negative points in Comp are coming out of the woodwork....Just disappointed that it's going to be from local guys.
I just thought the comment on tying things together with a paint scheme was very funny, can't wait to see some red necrons bro-alliance with blood angels....through their red paint scheme.
....Holy crap I feel like I just went on an Iron warrior / MajorSOB rant....reply to this all you want I'm done with trying to promote comp and theme and won't be posting any more rebuttal's...Just stop trying to drag my lists into the same group as this one, it's insulting.

Actually what is insulting is you put down anyone who does not want to play to your standards Chris both in public forums and behind their back. I would be happy to dig up my 3rd edition rulebook and sell it to you since it seems to be the only way you want to play. I wanted to promote DaBoyz and carried my DaBoyz T-shirt with me to Alabama. 4 guys there told me how much they hate the event and idea of it and your name came up more than once. One guy simply cussed me out, mumbled a few names, and walked away. I had a similar experience at NOVA the year before comparing the comp scoring to some pretty unspeakable things you had to do for/to you (yes again your name specifically) to get a good comp score. I dont wear that shirt in public anymore.
I have seen penal legions played quite successfully and the rough riders can work very well. Your playing the penals because they are a very cheap blob which works well in 6th...Hmmmm. You pick good units then put them down as to how bad they are then pound the crap out of your opponent. You are a good list builder and a good player but your attitude towards your opponents, fellow gamers, and anyone who sees the game different than you is pathetic.
This was a post about painting not comp. Your 2 cents worth and underhanded comments are not welcomed in a post like this. It is amazing to me that you so rarely post and this is the crap you come up with?!?! Great "DaBoyz" representation.

What's insulting is the fact that I can't even post pictures of models I painted without someone throwing a little girly fit about the way I'm playing the game. You know, there are multiple views on how the game should be played. This year, the RAW guys won so I'm enjoying actually playing the game as written, not courtney's comphammer. My comparison was related to your remark on theme and fluff. My army's theme is a "travelling circus" of sorts travelling and entertaining dark eldar with pain and suffering. I wrote my own fluff for it, just like my GK before and my Tyranids which also have a non-GW scheme and fluff. Your lists directly contradict the fluff of the special characters you use, so don't throw fluff and theme in my face. It's so amazing to me that "founding members" of DaBoyz are so vocal and unaccepting of new players and different playstyles.

Hey, now, I haven't gone on a good rant in a while.
Not to take sides but just an fyi, Da'Boyz was founded on a strong belief of taking armies that were not only compful but fit theme wise and into the fluff. Armies that made sense with the current cannon.
Sad to say some of us have fallen to the way side and the tournament no longer portrays that, but I am sure there are reasons for this.
The allies ability only further complicates things with comp which I'm sure is one reason of many that they decided to keep it out of this years tournament. Still it's dissapointing to hear but to each thier own.
On topic now: Very nice painting Aaron. They came out great. Wicked blending.

Good 'ol kevin with his cattle prod ;D Comp and theme are two different things and often contradict(deathwing, white scars, etc ..) each other, not saying you cant have a compy themed army but its not always possible to keep with your theme when building a compy list I think allies kind of puts the nail in the comp coffin(not saying i prefer this, since my main army got screwed over by allies) at least from a competitive standpoint Nice job with the painting and basing aaron, definitely a unique looking DE army
