I'd also like to know what the WD units actually have and don't have. I believe the WD units have the BRB daemon rule which does not include EW which would make a lot of sense in relation to the points decrease and wounds increase.

so i hearing that the new daemon rule in the rulebook trumps the one in the codex wich takes away the immunity to instant death. true or false? Here is where it becomes a real mess. They FAQ'ed the Daemon Codex rules so they cause Fear. They did not do anything else with them in an errata. So you have a problem. The Screamers/Flamers have the Daemon rule. The book is a supplement to the codex - which also has the Daemon rule. The options are: 1 - Must mean the BRB rule so they get a 5++ save and cause Fear. They do not Daemonic Assault though, they do not get Eternal Warrior and they can be joined by IC's from different chaos gods. Also, what if I join a screamer unit with a Herald that must Daemonic assault - but the other unit is in normal reserves - I guess it does Daemonic assault but Jet Bikes do not have the DS rule so they must walk in, but the herald must deep strike...uh oh...now we have a mess... 2 - Must mean codex daemon rules apply but then Screamers/Flamers do not have saves of any kind... 3 - Compromise a bit - they get their 5++ save for being a Daemon and follow the rules for Daemons in the book. It becomes an even bigger mess for Soul Grinders - which Daemon rule do you use, does one replace the other. Do they get a 5++ save? It would make sense for them, but the Daemon codex rule does not mention it. It already makes sense though to merge them for Screamers/Flamers, does it make sense to do so in this case?

and we all thought that white dwarf supplements were such a great idea.

I like the idea of GW updates - they just need to tighten up the rules a bit and make sure they cost the units appropriately. I really dislike the confusion.
Also, for those who missed it this is settled in the new FAQ
Q: Do models chosen from Codex: Chaos Daemons and / or the White Dwarf, August 2012, Codex: Chaos Daemons official update have the Daemon special rule from the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook, or do they have the Daemon army special rule from Codex: Chaos Daemons? (p27) A: All models from Codex: Chaos Daemons and/or the White Dwarf, August 2012, Codex: Daemons official update have the Daemon army special rule listed in Codex: Chaos Daemons with the addition of the Fear special rule from the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook and a 5+ invulnerable save.
Soul Grinders also get the 5++ save too it seems.

Well if there was any doubt where Matt Ward has been, it would appear that he has been assigned to the GW FAQ department!

They really needed the boost though - the new flamers and screamers just were not strong enough at their point cost without a few more special rules tacked on....okay I cannot even type that with a straight face.
