WTF is with the timely FAQ? Its almost like GW wants to start running their company like a real business???
And FYI, plague zombies wont be the most overplayed unit out there ( I can think of a few others ) but I already have 100 plus models waiting to be assembled!!!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

For some reason GW loves Papa Nurgle, while the T-Sons and beserkers get crapped on.

I would rather face the horde of zombies than the army of noise marines who rip the a-hole of half the armies out there with ignore cover, and to boot they are the cheapest out of all the cult troops. Sounds like infinite GW wisdom to me.

I dont know the Axe of Khrone is pretty d**n good if you ask me. Points for beserkers seem pretty legit. Thousand sons actually got 2 points cheaper with the initial cost of the first 4 guys and the sorcerer. The points for the extra guys stayed the same BUT they got Vetrans of the Long war, Mutation for the sorcerer - if you chooses it and a banner to chose from. Sounds like they got a bit better to me imo. Not to mention thier own psychic powers.
I think the new book has a lot of positives compared to the last one. Im generally happy with it. But I've only played about 3 games with it. Hell Drake is great. Mauler fiend has yet to move a game before getting destoyed. Forge fiend is pretty neat if it survives to fire. Hell brute im not impressed with but a d**n cool looking model. Warpsmith is fun, not sure if he is worth his points but its in theme with me army so Im gonna take it. my 2 cents atm. Need more games.

ill have to agree with Iron Warrior, and go on to say that the new book is fantastic, phil kelly nerfed the berzerkers slightly but they balance out well, seriously throw them with a fist in a rhino with dirge casters and infiltrate them with hurons ability, things die in droves.. Noise marines are cheap base cost but its 3 pts per sonic weapon, 30pts for a blastmaster, 15 for a doom siren and nuts even for 6 if you wanna give them feel no pain, they get up there in points, phil kelly did a hell of a job with the internal balance in the codex. He also when interviewed stated that he designed nurgle the way it is in the book because he wanted to see hordes of zombies, which is a cool thing, even with feel no pain if you play against an army like guard or demons that generate a metric f**kton of wounds they wont survive for very long..papa nurgle is really good but i have to say with the modifications slaanesh is probably better rules wise, because they can be init 5 troops with feel no pain, regualr csm with mark of slaanesh and icon of excess are miles ahead of any loyalist space marines...this book is all about fielding a variety of troops among other choices and probaly has the most potential for customization in the game .. sorry that a lot of people were looking for matt ward level of derp overpowered, but it was written by the best rules writer GW has.. The only issue i see is it is a copy paste of how he did space wolves in a lot of ways , but this is good because Space Wolves have survived the test of time and edition change.. In terms of stand alone i would place this army as one of the best in the game.. Seriously anyone else try a Demon Prince with the Black mace? You wanna say beatstick? Its an absolute monster, expensive and can be popped by a railgun but if they focus on it the rest of your army will decimate them

I havnt even picked up a CSM codex yet so i have no idea whats scary and whats not, but i know my tyranid list puts out 48 TL S6 shots so unless making the cultists into nurgle zombies makes them t4(?) they wouldnt mind a FNP zombie horde
Im looking forward to see what people do with this codex
And i have to say good thinking on GWs part with the inclusion of zombies, i hadnt cared to start a chaos army until i heard about these nurgle cultist zombies...must resist...love zombies...

the nasty things i can think of that tyranids would have to worry about are everywhere in the codex, relatively all of the special characters will give you issues, swarmlord or not, abbaddon is probably the single scariest s.o.b in 40k, plasma can be taken in droves, and cheap havocs can put out a lot of shooting...think space wolf codex with more options and better units..obliterators went down in points but can take marks, noise marines ignore cover with sonic weapons, oh and they can get a demon prince that can force a toughness test for every wound to slay someone outright.... Zombies arent that scary for armies that can rain hell on them, IG, Eldar, Deldar, grey knights..Just prepare for a bloody game, but your Nidzilla will probably perform well. as always: Blood for the Blood God!!

After looking over the new chaos codex and playing it last night, I still would give it an 8 out of 10. It is definitely a fun codex, has many decent options and very few epic misses, except for the Mutilators. Seriously Phil Kelly, what the hell were you thinking??? After last night I think Noise Marines are priced about right. They are not "the bargain" that everyone initially thinks they are partially due to the salvo rules on sonics as well as the need for Veterans of the Long War and the extra close combat weapon option to make them really good. When you start adding up the points for sonics, VotLW, CCW, they start to wrack up points in a hurry. Doom siren rocks especially when charged, but the pure Noise Marines I played lacked AP2 ( where are my plasmas that I should have taken???) as well as some armor 14 killers. I am looking forward to revamping my Nurgle. I have been looking forward to painting a Zombie horde ever since I heard the first rumors. The Walking Dead on tv and a paint brush in my hand...good times!!! ( Yeah Ginger Beard, I said PAINT BRUSH and they can be used when sober! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D) I am also looking forward to trying out some of the other options in the codex, bikes look good, as well as marked termies, and the new flyer looks fun too. Hell I might even use the 10 spawn I bought from the Tide of Spawn box!!! The only issue that I see in the overall meta is that Chaos doesn't seem to counter any of the other top tier 5th edition codices that well and their real potential will not be realized until some of these older books are rewritten and toned down a notch. Wishful thinking right? Again, 8 out of 10, as opposed to the hot bloody abortion that we used to have thanks to Gav and Alessio. When compared to them, yes, Phil Kelly is indeed a god.

Just remember that we're only 3 weeks into the new book and the zombie FAQ wasn't official until 3 days ago.
Yes, zombies will be easy to kill in a vacuum when everything in your army is shooting at them. However, even with only 3 units for 105 of them with Typhus, they will have 1200pts left to spend on killy stuff. If you spend resources and limited turns killing zombies, the rest of the stuff is pounding you. If you ignore zombies and focus on the killy stuff, you won't have enough resources left at the end to clear 100+ fearless scoring models off objectives.
Nurgled oblits are no joke. All the cult troops also if you use them properly. Black Mace is the scariest CCW I've ever faced hands down.
In the 3 games I've played against the new codex, the mono-nurgle army under Craig annihilated me and left me with 2 models. Ben's chaos undivided army had 47 power armored bodies, 20 cultists, 4 vehicles, and would have also steamrolled me if the game had gone past turn 5. Doug's mono-slaanesh list had a scary amount of ap3/ignore cover shots and only lost to funny mission rules and unlucky reserve/outflank rolls. And this is only 3 weeks in. I didn't even have to face Ron who went 3-0 and scored 9 more victory points than the closest imperial player.
IMO the codex is 10/10, it'll just take a few months to figure out the synergies and finesse aspects.
