Well I figure I'll let anyone who reads the forums and attends the GT see my army list for the 1/100ish(?) chance we face off and I inevitably crush you ;D
Background on the army:
I have been building a steel legion IG army for the GT and as my first 6th Ed. army, I had recently sold off my IG but i realized the main reason(besides crappy painting) was I REALLY grew to hate the cadian models, so firstly i decided I wanted to make a artillery division partly because I love the thought behind it, partly because the new barrage rules kick arse(more on barrage later), then I had to decide on a infantry range to use, well I'm fond of gas masks and WWII German looking uniforms so steel legion fits that bill pretty good(plus I had a unit already), but I also heavily considered going "red" styled with the valhallans. So thats how this whole project came to be...
Somewhat unfortunately for theme I have to Include some Tau allies as I couldnt Afford to buy everything for a 1850 IG army before the GT
ARMY LIST 1850:
Now the equipment may a bit off since I'm at work, ill cross-reference when I get home later

Colossus

Shas'vre broadside
-HW blacksun,HW target lock, target array
Broadside
-Target array
On a side note as a tau player im very happy they revoked their idea to get rid of Target locks in the FAQ and made it so that each model with one can choose a different unit, also i considered replacing the broadsides with a hammerhead for the simple fact that it gets a 2+ cover at anything over 12" away but decided the suits were the better way to go
Ok first off i Know i have 3 squishy troops choices and every game will have 3-5 objectives, but the idea behind the army is to bunker down behind the line, with all vehicles having a 2-3+ cover(disruption pods/camo nets) while i shell the crap out of every troops choice/fast threat you have, I will put every objective i get to place into area cover so that when I shell you out of it(colossus is ap3 ignore cover) then when i get my devilfish'd firewarriors there or my vendetta'd vets there in the dwinding turns, ill get cover+objective. The tau provide a good amount of SPLITTABLE S7 missiles and S6 plasma, along with the broadsides 2 splittable railguns. As for the other assorted mission objectives I'll just have to rely on my ruthless German Generalship to plan an execute accordingly (disclaimer: I am fully aware all of my plans will crash and burn)
The army I'm most scared of are deamons since colossus dont ignore invulns although im sure a S6 large blast still counts for somthing and they get up in my face quickly, "first rank fire, second rank...FLEE!!!" but also any fast melee army will probly wreck me
The army will be either very effective or very fail, i do not think there will be many close games, the army hinges on the heavy support and the scatter die will be a scatter die, especially on the out of LoS shot where it'll scatter 11 inches. OR it'll work perfectly and ill open up a transport with the missile pods/missile launchers/broadsides and a colossus hits dead on effectively erasing a tac squad/firewarriors/dire avengers rinse and repeat
Barrage is also an important part of the potential the colossus' have, some people who do not use/encounter it regularly may not have bothered to learn it.
PROS
-It allows the colossus to negate its min range of 24" by indirect firing.
-It allows the colossus to fire at units out of site indirectly, scattering the full 2d6 if an arrow comes up
-the best yet, SNIPING... the barrage rules state that casualties are taken coming from the center of the blast first instead of nearest to the firing unit(tank). so if it doesnt scatter and i put it over the cluster(placement against my army will be key) of special/heavy weapons which get no look out sir or even a sergeant who only passes on a 4+, say bye bye unless they have a high majority toughness or invulns. AND best yet, this is whether shooting indirect or direct
CONS
-really the only con is it only hits top floors of ruined buildings, although im not sure if this is indirect only or both like how allocation works???
so basically I'm saying stay out of building when you face my army ;D ;D ;D
p.s. sorry for the long post
Edit: had forgotten the camo on the vets before
