Please note that the league officially ends today and I have not had time to fully finish up writing the report. Below is a rough report of my last game. All of my notes and photos are at home so I am typing this up from memory. When I have some free time I will update this report with images and a story line but here is a quick and dirty report of the game.
This game was played a week ago versus Trevor. Trevor brought his orks but only had 1750pts available so I tweaked my 1850 list to accommodate.

9 Raptors, Flamer, Melta Gun, MoK

10 Bloodletters
10 Pink Horrors
Soul Grinder with Phlegm
Deployment: Vanguard
Mission: Mission 5? Just straight up objectives. We used a preset board and Trevor rolled for 1 objective so we had a total of three. He placed one in his deployment zone behind a building. I put 1 in my deployment zone behind some terrain. The third objective went kind of in the middle of the board.
I win the roll for deployment but defer so that I can place my daemon waves appropriately once I see his setup. Trevor deploys the lootas in the 3 story tall ruins and pretty much everything else behind the defense line. The grot mob, storm boyz, and the dakkajet start in reserve.
I select my soul grinder and pink horrors as my primary wave. I deploy everything else on the board. The havocs go in the back corner with the lord in some area terrain. The Obliterators start out ahead of them and off to the left a bit. The 2 squads of marines go behind on the ruins in front of me. The 10 man squad starts on the objective. The havocs go behind the center ruins.
I attempt to seize but fail.
Deployment (roughly)
Turn 1: TrevorMovement: He guns the trukk with mega nobs up the center of the board. The units behind the lines start to move forward.
Shooting: The trukk moves flat out to hug the ruins in front of me. He shoots the lootas at the obliterators but does nothing.
Assaults: None
Turn 1: KevinI roll for my primary wave and do not get it. Since he has his troops all spread out, it’s pretty tight for deep striking my daemons. I put my bloodletters behind the ruins near his line and the middle objective but deviate onto his troops. I roll and get a result that allows him to reposition the units. He puts them near the objective but in the open. I place my herald of khorne up near his aegis line but I deviate back 11 inches towards my line.
Movement: I jump the raptors up into the ruins to get the melta in range of the trukk. No failed dangerous terrain tests. The obliterators and the 10 man squad of marines move up.
Shooting: The melta explodes the trukk (first blood) but I fail to wound any of the mega nobz.
Auto cannons kill a few orks. I run the bloodletters towards the ruins.
Trevor: 3 points (objective)
Kevin: 4 points (objective, first blood)
Turn 2: TrevorMovement: The dakkajet, storm boyz, and grots come on. The grots come in behind his defense line to hold his objective and fire the gun so that the shootas can move up. The dakkajet comes in on his right corners and moves 18 inches diagonally towards the center. The stormboyz come in right behind my marine squads and objectives.
Shooting: He calls a waaagghh and shoots a lot: Kills some daemons, raptors, 1 obliterators and marines.
Assault: Mega Nobs declare against the raptors. I fire over watch but fail to do anything. He kills a few raptors.
Turn 2 Kevin:I roll for daemons and the soul grinder comes in. I again mishap and Trevor puts me back on my right flank but within his charge range of the boyz. The unit contains a claw that can hurt it. He also places it backwards so that I have to spend my shooting phase to run in order to reposition it so that he faces my front. My obliterators move up a bit and the bloodletters move towards a shoota squad coming around the building. The herald heads towards the soul grinder to assist in the coming combat. The marines reposition to fire onto the storm boyz. The chaos lord leaves the havocs to get into charge range of the storm boyz.
Shooting: The two marine squads fire on the storm boyz and kill all but 2 and zagstruck. The obliterators kill some orks that are coming close. The havocs also whittle some down. The soul grinder runs to ready for the coming charge.
The Mega Nobz kill more raptors, leaving 3 and the jump lord left, I do nothing to them in return. The chaos lord charges into zags and kills him in a challenge. The two remaining orks flee.
Trevor: 3 points (objective)
Kevin: 4 points (objective, first blood)Turn 3: TrevorMovement: The 2 fleeing orks continue to run and the 2 shoota squads move up and toward the middle objective. The dakka jet moves over towards the ruins with the meganobs. The slugga boyz move within charge range on the soul grinder.
Shooting: Lootas fire at obliterators but do nothing. The shootas take care of the remaining bloodletters.
Assault: The sluggaz charge the grinder and the shootas on my left flank charge the obliterators. He wounds 1 and I kill a couple in return. The soul grinder kills a one or two but I need to get him down to below 12 boyz for get him to lose fearless. The nob with the claw does nothing.
The mega nobz finish off the raptors and jump lord. They consolidate on the ruins.
Turn 3: KevinMy pink horrors come on and I put them in Trevor's corner with the objective. I roll for Deep Strike and I.... land on target. First successful DS this game.
Thinking that the obliterators should be able to handle the combat, I move my lord into the plasma gun squad and the shuffle up towards the center to possibly go for the middle objective. The melta squad moves back a bit to cover my objective and shoot at the mega nobz.
Shooting: The havocs and melta squad fire on the nobz, killing 1 and wounding another. The pink horrors kill all but 1 loota. The plasma squad kills a couple of shootas.
Assault: The shootas do nothing to the obliterators and I kill 1 or 2. Over in the soul grinder fight my herald charges and I go for the squad to try and help get him below 12. 1 kill 3-4 more boyz but the herald goes down as well. No damage to the grinder.
Trevor: 3 points (objective)
Kevin: 4 points (objective, first blood)Turn 4: TrevorMovement: The dakkajet leaves the table. The shoota squad with warboss start to back track towards the aegis line. The fleeing unit still flees and the remaining loota runs off as well. The mega nobz move up the ruins to get ready to assualt the melta squad.
Shooting: The grots kill 2 pink horrors.
Assault: The mega nobz fail their charge. The Obliterators whiff their attacks.
In the soul grinder fight the power claw wounds the grinder. I kill 1 or 2 more.
Trevor: 3 points (objective, slay the warlord)
Kevin: 4 points (objective, first blood)Turn 4: KevinOnly movement is I pull the plasma squad to hug the ruins. Seeing that the obliterator battle is taking too long I move the chaos lord out of the marine squad and get ready to charge into that combat.
Shooting: The melta squad and havocs kill another 2 meganobz. The last one breaks and runs back.
The Pink horrors kill a bunch of grots.
Assault: The grinder kills 1 more ork and in the obliterator combat I charge my lord into the combat and kill a bunch of orks. I can’t wait to see what the back mace’s toughness test will do to this unit. Sadly, my chaos lord fails his armor saves and dies. Since the mace’s effect takes place at the end of the combat phase, he needs to be on the table for it to take effect. The orks stay locked in combat.
Trevor: 4 points (objective, slay the warlord)
Kevin: 4 points (objective, first blood)Turn 5: TrevorThe shoota sqaud with the boss cross the aegis line to get into grips with the pink horrors. The mega nob regroups and moves towards the soul grinder fight.
Shooting: The shootas and grots fire on the pink horrors and kill them off.
In assault the shootas kill 1 obliterator, leaving 1 left. Over in the soul grinder fight I kill 1 or 2 and I make my daemon saves.
Turn 5: KevinThe melta squad edges towards the ruins and the plasma squad moves back towards the objective. I want to prevent him from getting line breaker.
Shooting: The havocs kill a few shootas by the aegis line.
Assault: Obliterator fight is a draw again and in the grinder fight he gets a penetrating hit and explodes my soul grinder. I hurt 1 or 2. He consolidates towards my deployment zone but is not in range yet.
Trevor: 4 points (objective, slay the warlord)
Kevin: 4 points (objective, first blood)Turn 6: TrevorHe moves the shootas up into my deployment zone on the other side of the ruins.
Shooting: The shootas get lucky and kill 1 marine that they can see that is in the squad holding my objective.
Assault: Nothing with the Obliterator fight and we draw again.
Turn 6: KevinThe havocs and melta squad shoot at the orks edging into my deployment zone. I kill the ones that are in and I prevent them from scoring the point.
Assault: Still a draw in combat.
Game ends and we check to see if he gets line breaker with the orks from the obliterator fight. I don't think he will as the obliterators had a turn or 2 of movement but when we check, one ork is just past the 12 inch marker from the center of the board, giving him line breaker.
Final score:
Trevor: 5 points (objective, slay the warlord, line breaker)
Kevin: 4 points (objective, first blood)
Thoughts:
It was a good matchup and my first time playing against Trevor's orks. I had some really bad daemon DS rolls, and my assaults just sucked. My obliterators and soul grinder should have been killing more orks than they did but I kept rolling low on my hits and wounds. Losing the chaos lord before the black mace could have an impact also sucked. Even Lucko could not believe how bad my rolling was this game. While I can’t recall the exact numbers of casualties, his calling the waaggh sucked for me as it was pretty nasty. Ork’s should never be that good in shooting.
About the only move I regret making was jumping my raptors so close to the trukk on the first turn. I jump right up to the edge of the ruins in order to pop the trukk, allowing his mega-nobz easy access to them the following turn. I should have kept them 6 inches back to still give me the melta "double tap" but harder for his mega-nobz to get at me in the ruins.
In the end though it came down to just one ork getting into my deployment zone that gave trevor the win. Great game.
Final league score
2 wins | 4 Losses | 2 Draws
