Nice! The falcon can be pretty tough.

Not to hijack the thread (but I will!), but is X-wing comparable to the mechanics in any of the GW games or any other popular game/boardgame.
I may pick up a starter set sometime here. It seems small and the theme is cool enough that I may be able to convert the wife.

Chris,
From what I understand it is similar to wings of war, which I have never played. The mechanics of the game are easy but what I like about this game is that you really need to plan out moves a few turns in advance, otherwise your ships may end up hitting other ships or asteroids.
The mechanics are straight forward.
Movement: goes from lowest Initiative level to highest. Each ship has a turn dial with all of their movement options. Each player assigns their movements on the dial and turns then upside down when done. Then at initiative level you reveal your dial and move that ship. Then you perform an action.
Shooting: starts at the highest initiative value and works down. Each ship can fire in fixed ranges and has a firing arc. Each ship has a set number of shots but you can get bonuses for firing in range 1 or you can purchase weapon upgrades.
After shooting you clear all actions as start the next turn.
There are bonuses to the game:
1: Most games are at the 100 point mark, which is almost straight out of the box. 1 or 2 booster packs and you are good to go, unless you want to collect both Empire and Rebel factions. 2: No random boosters, just buy the ships that you want and each ship comes with multiple character cards.
If you want, I can bring the game with me on Saturday and we can get in a intro game after the 40k. Both my son and daughter were able to grasp the game after a couple of turns.

Yeah what Kevin said! lol I really like it, its a quick easy game to learn, everything is already painted (big bonus in my book). There is enough upgrades and ships that it doesn't get repetitive but not too many that its over complicated. There is quite a few guys from Buffalo and Rochester that play it.

@ Sinister - I'm for a game of xwing after the event ends, I mean after we've won.
@crispy, your more than welcome to watch a turn or 2 just to see the mechanics.

Gonna try and make it to this event. Ordered a couple a-wings and will be picking up a falcon at millennium this Saturday. I hope ffg keeps up the support and releases more ships its really a fun game. I will throw my squad in my 40k box since sinister mind will be my ride for the day.

Does anybody want a practice game tomorrow, Sunday 3/31? I'm planning to be at Millennium around 1 p.m.; I could even be talked into showing up by noon. If you're not having your Easter dinner until later on, here's your chance to whet your appetite by smacking down an X-Wing newbie! -- Bill

Hey Bill, i'm not sure if many people go to MG for minis on Sundays. Usually a card day. Plus with Easter, i'm not sure they will be open. I'd like to invite you over to Boldo's Armory at 891 Monroe ave. Myself, and about 4-5 others will be there for some friendly x wing games around noon. Show up when you want, and we can get in a game or two!!

Thanks for the invitation, Brinan. I've never been to Boldo's, so I guess today's the day to remedy that oversight. See you there around noon. -- Bill
