Daboyz vs Syracuse Format

OK. I have put a little thought into this and I have began a format.

Here it is.

10 vs 10
2000pts \ Player
2 day event. Rotate each year on where it is(Rochester\Syracuse)
All armies must be fully painted

Day 1(Saturday)
Event 1 (10:00 am)
- 2 v 2
- Must use a Special Character from each army ie(Tyco, Asdrubael Vect, etc)
- Mission TBD

Event 2 (1:30pm)
- 2 v 2 (same partners, different opponents)
- Must have maxed out troops choices(4\6 units must be maxed out) ie(6 TAC squads and 4\6 must have 10 guys)
- Mission TBD

Event 3 (5:00pm)
- 5 v 5
- Special rules for characters\artifacts go across all 5 armies ie ( Rites of battle from captain gives LD 10 to entire side)
- Only Characters count for victory points. (this is kinda wierd not sure if I will keep it)

TIME TO PARTY AND HAVE FUN!!!!!

Day 2(Sunday)
Event 4 (10:00am)
- 2 v 2 (different partners from day before)
- need to think a team rule to use
- Mission TBD

Event 5 (1:30pm)
- 10 v 10
- need to think a team rule to use

Awards ceremony
Individual
- Best Painted
- Best Sportsman
Team
- Overall champ
o Based on total victory points for both days.

I think there is no way you could get the first 3 games in on one day. A 5 vs 5? That probably takes a day in itself. You're such a dumb ass ;D

Not sure how many of us can do a two day event. I know I couldn't. I would love to be part of the 10 vs 10 or 5 vs 5...

I think the first big bash should just be an us vs them game. No format, no holds barred ... all out WAAAARRR!

If we all suck as bad as you then "yes" t will take longer, but hopefully only the good players show up.. :-)

I was thinking we could do this in late January, early February. Hopefully that would give people time to plan for a 2-day thing. I know weekends are precious, but this would be a blast.

I dont know about this 2 day event thing. We dont need two days to kick some SQ butt. Besides some of us are indisposed on saturdays. Im impartial to a sunday event. One big game or 2 smaller games. Make it simple and fun that way you will avoid any problems with complexity and scoring.

I am cool for whatever people want. We all know what happens when no one takes the initiative to do something though. It ends a good idea that never happened.

Since most of the people that want to play will be there this Sunday lets have a discussion about this and come up with some ideas. If we think 2 days is too much then we can cut it down. This was just my ideas getting thrown into a post.

I am sure most people could pull that off. I need to make a few more marines myself though.

Well I think whomever is going to host this event first (us or syraquse) should be the ones to come up with the format. Alternating each year form stores is a good idea. For example if we are going to host it this year we should have them come up here (because we always go down there) so we should come up with the format of how this is going to be played aslo with the consesus of the syracuse guyson how we are going to do it. The set a date that wont conflict with other tournaments/league dates.

thanks to the gw people for the offer to host, could be good times.

if this becomes more than just "syracuse vs. rochester" we would really need to think about the format; e.g. how do you incorporate/accomadate three teams (if not, the horror, more) into a tourney. if not it could just dissolve into a regular 40k tourney, then what would be the point of going through all the trouble.

also, i'm begining to think this should be a team vs. team (vs. team?), or crew vs. crew (a la "you've been served"), type thing, with each crew representing the location they are from. the reason why i bring this up is if there is more of a general/open type of selection for participants from each location, this could open up the necessity for qualifying rounds and such. it could get very complex very quickly. if people want to do it this way cool, however, i think the time would be better spent by each group working on their respective army lists for the main show down/dance. arguments could be made either way, what are people's thoughts?

also, sexy action news team, me, and other syracuse people have talked about the necessity to set up restricted areas for the groups, particularly the syracuse people, beyond the eyes of others to discuss tactics, army lists, and such. i think daboys have their own place to do this already, just need to set one up for us. kevin said he could get this on in the near future.

Both boards can add specail memberships like i could categorise people as daboyz and other, and only let daboyz post in a certain area.

I can do a restricted area if you wish, it just will take time to modify.

Tom are you staying contact with the syracuse people about this. Cause I went ove rthere and looked at thier organization of this and it looks like they have made it as far as we have:
