kinda boring and bad
from the list of units that make you something other than "red marines" Sanguanary high priest Honor guard Veteran assault squad Blood angel scouts Furioso dreadnoughts Ball predator
you took 1 of them (and you took it twice) This is an old fassion make me some death company list added to that packing in the assault cannons
This is the crap we used to hate and still do.

I did take 2 of what you said. Baal and Honor Guard. As far as Death Company list. I took maxed out squads for each one. If I wanted a death company heavy army I would take 6- 5 man tac squads and 3 - 5 man dev squads. Then fill the rest of the army out with other stuff. Plus I don't even have a chaplain, so they are going to be running like idiots across the board. I do understand where you are coming from. I just want to make a troop heavy army. I really like my opponent to see a sea of red coming at him. I tried a similar list the other night, but without as many troops.

YOU’RE A FAST ATTACK ARMY THEAM: TAKE 2 SQUADS OF SCOUTS CONFIGURED ANY YOU LIKE (CAN’T HAVE SNIPER RIFLES), SO YOU CANINFILTERATE. TAKE 2 SQUADS OF ASSAULT MARINES FOR FAST ATTACK OR DEEPSTRIKE.
I DON’T REALLY CARE WHAT I PLAY AGAINST, BUT WITH A NON-VARING TROOP ARAY, YOU MIGHT AS WELL PLAY RED NECRONS.
COLONEL CATACHAN MAY BE BLUNT IN HIS COMMENTS, BUT HE’S TRYING TO GET YOU TO THINK IN A WAY TO MAKE YOUR MATCHES WITH THIS ARMY FUN TO PLAY AGAINST. WITH OUT VARIETY IN YOUR SELECTIONS PLAYERS OF HIS CALIBER CAN MAP OUT THE HOLE BATTLE FIELD WITH A BLINK OF AN EYE AND JUST GO THROUGH THE MOTIONS TURN AFTER TURN AFTER TURN.
BAAL TANKS AND FURIOUSO DREADNOUGHTS ARE TRUE BLOOD ANGEL TRAITS EASILY PLACED IN A 1850 or 2000 point ARMY LIST.
YOU CAN HAVE BLOOD ANGEL TRAITS AND STILL HAVE A SEA OF RED.
MY SPACEMARINES ARE RED, BUT MY VEHICLES WILL NEVER BE COOKED LOBSTERS. ;D ;D ;D

Tommy, did I understand you correctly? If I read this right, you don't like the idea of 6 full troop squads now? You have preached about taking full troop squads weekly, but now that an army gets an advantage from taking 6 full squads, it's a list we all hate? I do agree that it would make an uber death company that I would enjoy playing, but what I see is that universal rules like "good list come from full troop squads, the more the merrier" always have their exceptions, Mike just showed us this one.

IRON WAR AND HAVE THE ONLY SMACK THREADS, NOT DIRECTED AT PLAYERS, BUT ARMIES, ARMY COMBOS WHAT EVER GET INTERESTING COMBATS GOING or AT LEAST HAVE SOME CREATIVE WRITING. I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THE INSIGNIFICANT POPE MOBILE. ;D ;D ;D

OK. The list above is not the "make-an-uber-death-company".
I can show you one and here it is...
2 x Chaplain ~ 462pts
6x(4x scout squad, vet sarge)480 pts 3x(4x devs, vet sarge)270 pts
3x(4x Assault squad, vet sarge)375 pts
2x(4x Terminators, vet sarge)400 pts
there you go. Now that is a ridiculous list. Guaranteed 15-20 DC.(w\ 14 chances for powerweapons\fists) Then fit whatever you want with the rest of the points.
In my orginial post I can't even control the death company. They just charge ahead at the closest enemy.

You missed my point Mike. I did not object to your list, I mearly said that it gives you the potential of alot of death company, which it always a huge pain to play against. If you reread the thread I believe it was Tommy who had the objection. I was thrying to point out that your list fits the "troops are good" requirement, but all of a sudden because of the benefit you might receive, maybe "troops are good, sometimes", right? Play your army, no one can say it isn't fluffy!!!!!

Play your army, no one can say it isn't fluffy!!!!! My orginal list gives me no more advantage to getting DC then any list I normally play. I roll for 8 squads in the list I posted, so an average of 4 DC. A normally played list that I take I have a chaplain, so here is the break down of the chance for DC in my normal list. chaplain - 4-6(we'll say 5 for average) I roll for 6 squads(4 x tac squad, 1 x term, 1 assault) 3 DC on average, 2 possibly have power weapons. So for my normal list I take I have a minimum of 4 DC and an average of 8. My normal list produces more DC on average than the list I posted and I can control my normal list. The DC in the list posted above are raving loons with no one to control them. So what I am saying is the point about potential DC is mute. I am actually lessening their effec.

MIKE, RELAX! 1) TOMMY TOOK A SHOT AT YOUR ARMY LIST. 2) I ONLY POINTED OUT BLOOD ANGEL TRAITS, JUST TO GET AWAY FROM REGULAR SPACEMARINE CONFIGURATIONS. I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT DEATH CO. JUST THOUGHT YOU MIGHT MIX IT UP MORE FOR TACTICAL ADVANTAGES. 3) MAJOR SOB NEVER SAID ANYTHING DEROGATORY ABOUT YOUR ARM LIST. 4) MAJOR SOB ONLY TOOK A SHOOT AT TOMMY. 5) I'M JUST STICKING MY NOSE IN TO GET DIFFERENT PEOPLE PLAYING EACH OTHER. 6) TOMMY'S POINT WAS,IF YOU TAKE 6 SQUADS OF TROOPS, VARY THEM DON'T CLONE THEM. I DON'T THINK HE MEANT YOU WERE JUSTING TO CREATE A LARGE DEATH CO. BUT HE CAN SPEAK FOR HIM SELF.
P.S. THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG THREAD. HISTORICAL WHEN YOU POST AN ARMY LIST, EVERYBODY WANTS A SAY. HANG IN THERE, YOU'LL PROBABLY GET SOME GOOD IDEAS.

Thanks for pointing that out, maybe I should reread the BA codex, but I thought part of the reason for taking 6 squads was to help with DC. The biggest problem I see with your list though is that you have no rhinos. Without the transports you have to rely on blood rage to get across the board, also no moving cover to screen your DC with. I can see how this list may not be the best list tactically to play, since it makes it difficult for you to get in HtH, and isn't that what your army excels at?

I can see where Tom is coming from. People back in the day used to take 6 troop choices in a BA army just for the sole purpose of a Huge Death company. Its really annoying. BA are about the only ones that have an adverse effect on the number of troops they take. The more troops the more death company they get. And essentially they are free. You pay almost nothing for these Death company other than the average points of a Marine, which is a far cry form the special rules they get. As for the chaplain not being with them, does it really matter? They are just going to charge across the table anyways, even if the chaplain was with them or not. This just means they may get thier fast because the will rage more often. I dont really find this a major concern seeing as they are going to where they excell at...in HTH. Its a moot point. 4 assualt cannons Im wondering, were you trying to be sneaky here by only listing the HB sponsons and not the Assualt cannon turrets? Im on to you. ;D Everyone knows my opinion on many assualt cannons (ie more than 2) Suggestion Lose the chainfist and get a powerfist, not sure if it changes the points cost but you wont ever use it against vehicles YOu have 2 las, 2 missles and 2 assualt cannons. Vehicles are going to be hard pressed to come close to your terminators anyways. Buy anyways Yea I can see where tom is coming from.

Bah, it's a wandering marine army. It's far from being Uber-good. But in general i suppose it's an ok list. It's got 6 generic troops squads at max size with a vet sarge, meh, nothing special there.
Since they're at full size you're obviously not trying to spam out a big death company, otherwise you'd just have a ton of small 5 man squads.
2 baals might be annoying but wtvr. it's fine. it's not the best tank in the game and nobody should have a problem with it.
As far as general comp goes? well, you've got a couple of blood angel only units like the honour guard and the baals. seems fine.
