Sgt Bradburn looked down the troop compartment to the front of the Chimera. There he saw a man dressed in deep red and black robes, talking quietly to himself it seemed. "Where is this man going to lead us, ive heard the stories and nothing good can come of his presence here" This sentiment was shared by more than just the Grenadier Sgt. Ever since the inquisitor had landed on Task force Condor's home world of Essex all of the guardsmen had been uneasy. The stranger had simply landed in the courtyard of the govener, walked past all guards as if they were mere statues, and simply told the govener that his world now was the inquisitor's.
"My lord, how much farther to our objective?" Parker asked as he loaded his grenade launcher. The reply was short, and almost inaudible over the engines. "Five minutes". Five minutes though Bradburn, then he would see why his men, and an entire regiment of Essex regulars had been brought to this abandond world on the edge of the eye of terror. For indeed this was a strange place. Ever since they had landed there had not been any contact with inhabitints of this planet. Only a single carrion bird had been seen, always watching them.
As he thought to himself Bradburn looked at his map of the city that he had found in a security building. If his calculations were correct they should be nearing a large medical facility very soon. Just as soon as he had put his map back in his pocket the driver announced over the PA system, that they were at the coordinates given. " Sgt, Clear the area while I prepare my things" The inquisitor said as he opened a large black case with the symbol of the Inquisition on it. " Yes lord, it will be done"
As the back hatch opened Bradburn drew his hellpistol, unsure of what might be out there in the empty city. Stepping out onto the street he found himself looking right into a large ominous statue of some great adept of this world. And perched on it's left shoulder sat what he thought was the same raven that he had seen earlier in the week. As he stood there he felt a hand on his shoulder, and heard a voice from behind say "Trust me Sgt, the raven will be the least of our problems here on this world, there is much evil that the birds have witnessed, and now we shall allow them to witness its undoing. Into the hostpital men, we must discover exactly what happend here."
As the group of men moved into the hospital the raven looked around itself, then flew off to a large nearby tower. There stood a man wearing sickly green armor, carrying a large scyth. "Good, they don't suspect anything of you my pet, that will prove most helpful with my plans."
First rough draft of Fluff. If anyone wishes they can PM me with C&C over it.
