So I have posted this on a few boards with minimal help. So I came here to see what you guys think and would suggest. I have recently started nids and am making them jungle themed. However while I like my paint scheme and all I am having trouble with the bases and making them look good for a jungle theme. I have used aquarium plants but i just don't get that lush jungle feel I am going for. Here is the base I have done. Do you guys have any suggestions. (I apologize for the crappy images the camera is old.)

Ed, I like what you are doing, here is a few suggestions... 1) Paint the aquarium plants. I know they come in that nice shiny green color, just like the GW Lustria plants, but man do they suck. If it were me, I would paint them with as much care as you would your mini. 2) Use more. If you are looking for a jungle feel, add alot more plants. 3) Try using downed trees and foliage and position your minis on them. Try modeling a fallen tree or maybe a forgotten temple that has overgrown vines, etc, then attach your models on them. 4) Buy a better camera. Time to retire that craptastic disc camera that mommy gave you for graduating Kindergarden and move up to a real digital one ( or maybe just a set of macro lenses to help you focus better). ;D 5) Scrap the jungle theme and go with snow bases! (Was that done before? ) 6) Keep up the good work!!!!

When I think of jungles I think of cheetahs and then I think of Tommy.
Honestly when I think of jungle, I think of swamps. It might be cool to have bases with water on them.
I would use the two part resin with green ink in it to get it to look just right. I also do what Doug said, add paint to the plants they might come out better.
BTW that is a lot of guns on that tyrant.

BTW that is a lot of guns on that tyrant. Yah I play him as having 1 T-L devour and a VC. I just feel that the standard devour for monstrous creatures looks kinda pathetic and weak for what it is and what is does, so I beefed it up! Oh and I was thinking water as well got any good tricks to making it look good. I have never done it before so any tips would be welcome.

Honestly the GW water effects aint too bad. Add a touch of blue ink (just a little bit) to give it some tint, maybe green instead if you're trying for the swampy look. Just need to have some sort of "pool" to pour it into so it dosnt run all over the place, I've seen where you take the base and wrap the entire short side in masking tape so that the tape stands up above the base 1/2'' or so, and then filling this with resin / water effect. while it's drying add in flock/balast and it will give a nice swampy grassy feel to it. you can always glue more flock on top as well once dry if you feel it's too "wet'' in spots.
And yah, the aqurium plants don't look right because they are out of scale. They look like normal 3" tall plants made out of plastic placed next to a 10' tall beasty that has been scaled to 5'' tall. You either have to paint them, or scrap them. Since I got nothing for you to replace them with, i'd reccemend priming them and dry brushing the snot out of them.

Many hobby shops carry horse hair packets dyed in various colours. I have found these to be wonderful for grass. It's what I use on My rangers although I'm not sure you've seen them. I'll try to get a pic up sometime. It would help with the plant. Part of the problem I see is that you have the Big plants with no smaller plants around. Most jungles have a good mix.
I also like all the other ideas mentioned as well.
