Hey guys, I have an upcoming project, a birthday present actually. He's a fantasy buff and he loves painting minis but never got past reaper. I decided for his birthday I'd paint him up a Warhammer fantasy model and I wanted to do a mounted dude. I've narrowed things down considerably, but I'm having trouble making the final call. Any thoughts one way or the other would be appreciated.

Before I vote, is said person vaguely interested in stating an army? If he has a preference between good/evil/humans/elves/etc, you might want to pick something he may find useful down the road. That said, based purely on models, Tyrion or Archaon are very nice models. The Louen is ok, he just looks a bit big on that under-sized hippogryff.... Check out the new Gorbad Ironclaw on his warboar Gnarla for another option - that model is awesome!

This is looks alone, he doesn't have the time, money, or location to play fantasy. I looked at all the races and the knight on steed definitely is the best fit for his tastes. Otherwise I would definitely go orky. Gorbad is awesome I agree.

Fair enough. I'm partial to Tyrion.
There are some interesting models in the Bretonnian line that fit what you are looking for. The Green Knight, the Lords/heros, even the questing knights. You probably want metal models, but if not, maybe a pegasus knight?

First off, I AM THE COOLEST, but if you want some lame azz fantasy model to paint try Belakor, he's almost as cool as I am.

Going on aesthetics, I have to go with Leoun. But I have always been partial to the Green knight model myself.

I like the model displayed by Major S.O.B.
IT'S GOT THAT "DRAGON" THING GOING WITH A LITTLE BIT OF CHAO'S, CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THAT.
AS FOR THE "GREEN KNIGHT", THROW A TOMATO ON HIM AND YOU HAVE A "BLT".
AND AS FOR "BELAKOR", THE NAME IN IT'S SELF IS COOL!
"I AM BELLLLLLLLLL-A-KKKKKKKKKK0RRRRRRRRR RUN!"
CIAO! ;D

Well after all that I ended up going with the Bretonnian Pegasus Knight. Very cool model and fun to paint. Only took me a day. But I also came to a very important realization. When you pain brettonians, every model is two paint jobs. One for the horse and one for the rider. www.coolminiornot.com/171897After I finish up the current round of projects I will definitely be painting Archeon and Tyrion, just because.
