I saw the model for the fell beast and I instantly thought 3 things, either as a mount for a lord/ sorcerer. a Counts As for a Daemon prince, or a Greater Daemon unto itself.
What does everyone think, which would be the best option?

It all would come down to basing. You would have to represent the weapons that this particular HQ has and base it with the correct sized base. I would allow it in out tournament but GW is pretty strict about not letting LOTR models invade 40K or fantasy armies.

That leads to my question...
I am working on a 40k Chaos army, Even if I use the correct size base, can my Lord be mounted on a Fantasy Army model?
Or will it pose problems at Tourneys?

My lord/sorcerer is a combination of Fantasy and 40k parts. Mixing Fantasy in is cool if it looks good

Brian, fantasy and 40K part are very interchangeable and do not create any sort of issue. The only thing that is required is that the model has the proper base required. GW has made an issue of LOTR models and parts being used in either fantasy or 40K in their tournaments. We are not that strict, I was just pointing out that if your were to play in let's say the next Baltimore GT, you would not be allowed to use your awesomely converted LOTR model the way their GT rules stand now.

To be able to use the LoTR IP, GW had to promise that they not be mixed with the Warhammer universe...Thus the no using mixed stuff in official GW events.

The model will use the Chaos lord base so it will be the correct size. Just the mount glued tot he base will be a mix of 40k and fantasy.
And looking at this army, it will be in the next GW GT so I wanted to make sure I got everything right ;D

Yeah, technically LOTR models are not supposed to be used in 40k or fantasy...blah blah blah.
And your supposed to use all GW models in GTs...yeah whatever.
Ive seen both non GW models and LOTR models or part of models used in GTs. Dont let GW fool you. If you like the model use it. Who cares what GW says. They are still going to take youre money whether its Fantasy 40k or LOTR.

They dont care. I have fell beast wings on my tyrant. they did not care, but because of license with LOTR they put a picture in white dwarf or picture of it on the web page.

Actually I remember Boldo mentioning that GW has loosened that whole "no LOTR minis in a fantasy army" thing. So I see no reason why it couldn't be used for 40k. Double check with him about that to be sure tho.
