Interesting comment by Gav about the Storm of Chaos armies and their future. It doesn't appear that he is leaning towards "getting" rid of them.

In retrospect, I would do two things different with the presentation of Storm of Chaos.
Firstly, it was never intended to be, and should never have been presented as a Warhammer Armies book. Jervis' articlette on Army Books and Expansions shows the way we'll be going forward with non-standard supplements (i.e. anything that isn't an army book).
Secondly, I would have worded the introduction more strongly to this effect. It says, "Storm of Chaos is not a Warhammer Armies book in the traditional sense." I'd just delete 'in the traditional sense' to make it clear.
As for the matter of using the lists in tournaments, ultimately the decision is with tournament organisers. I have been rather keen that we keep the lists as viable for GTs, but at the end of the day it isn't my call.
It's dealing with these sorts of issues that has led us to our current policy (as explained by Jerv) and hopefully will make things a lot clearer in the future. Campaign-based supplements started out as one thing with Codex: Armageddon and over a few years mutated and grew beyond what we originally intended, culminating in the 10 (!) army lists in SoC. Future campaign books will focus more on the campaign than on army lists.
I see no reason for event organisers to include or disregard SoC lists any more than other army lists – some might argue there's more sense in disallowing some of the army book lists than some of the SoC lists. Anyway, we'll hopefully avoid any such confusion in the future.
Cheers,
GAV
