A poorly written rule leads to a bit of confusion.
In the bretonnian army, the mounts of any knight are given the effects of the blessing as long the knight riding them has the blessing. Specifically it says "The blessing also affects the mount of any affected model (so, hippogrphs and pegasus gain the benefit of the blessing as long as thier rider is affected)."
Simple enough so far.
Now, with one of the magic items in thier list the Grail Shield it states. "The bearer's ward save gained from the blessing is increased to 4+ against attacks of any strength. If the model loses the blessing, they lose this ward save as normal."
The question posed was this, with this item does it increase the ward save of the mount as well?

I would say no and here is why:
The mount is effected by blessings, not magic items, carried by the character riding it.
Logically the Knight is carrying the shield, not the griffon (whatever), but we know how far logic will get you in this game.

I cant reach the direwolf FAQ from here, I'm fairly certain its covered there. I think its a valid arguement either way, but a 4+ ward save for a character & a mount seems like it should cost more than 35pts! Well, that plus the price of grail virtue.... I'm leaning toward the blessing counts for the mount. The mount gets the blessing of the rider, and the rider's blessing is (with shield) a 4+. Unless theres more details in the bret book Mike didnt relay......

For what it's worth, thier opinion was No. But no official response from GW on it from thier forums.
Q. Does the blessing save increase provided by the Grail Shield also extend to a monstrous mount the character may be riding?
A. It is the opinion of the Council that the answer to this question is No. In the description of the Grail Shield it specifically states that the BEARER'S Ward save gained from the Blessing of the Lady is increased. It does NOT state that the increase also applies to monstrous mounts. S. Bretonnia Army Book page 61 / Direwolf FAQ Council Interpretation

I have to agree with them on this. I think the mount benefits from the blessing, but only the rider benefits from the magic.
