My brother is very strongly considering getting into fantasy. He saw a picture of Lizardmen, and he loved them. We pawed through the army book, and they look good to me, although a litlle pricy on the good stuff. Anyone have any suggestions based on experiene regardin the lizards. What works and what doesn't? Any units that just aren't worth it? etc.... Thanks guys.

I have a lizard army and I think it is one of my strongest armies. I took it to my first fantasy GT and finished in the top 10. In fact, I would have won best general except that i didn't earn the 5 extra points for killing my last opponents general ( he had a strigoi vampire count that hit and wounded with all of his attacks and I didn't make a 6+ save).
I tend to take one of everything in my lizards. Most everything is useful but some units less so than others. Namely saurus cavalry and saurus warriors. Thats mainly because of the weakness of "elite" type infantry. I highly recomend terradons, cameleon skinks, salamanders and stegadon. I always prefer the base level slann as well.
Hope this helps.

What Shaun said.
The army has no weaknesses to speak of, and the way Shaun plays it is one of the strongest out there - which is very odd indeed since you'd think you're trying to be fluffy & nice taking a wide variety. I suppose its actually a credit to GW for creating an army with units that mesh very well with each other.
The army suffers a bit in that there are some very strong magic items (undercosted) and some extremely bad ones, so most LM builds, especially characters start to resemble everyone elses.
There is a second fully legal army list in the back of the LM book - Southlands lizardmen, that was included so older LM players can use the old skink with shortbow models. Unfortunately, THAT list is extremely open to abuse and not very well thought out. I have heard of tournaments banning southlands armies.
