A hot topic, thought I'd pass this along: Some kind person on Warhammer-Empire posted the link to the full quote from Gav Thorpe regarding DoW & RoR: "Note on DoW from Gav Thorpe. There's a variety of reasons for removing the reference to DOW in the forthcoming army books, and these are the main ones: 1. The rules detailing how to include DOW in an army are included in the DOW list/ articles. Therefore if you have access to those rules you have access to how they can be added to your army. 2. We may wish to revise the way DOW work in the future, and while we continue to perpetuate the current rules for them in the army books this will be very difficult to do. Our intent is that the DOW rules, should we produce a proper supplement, will be entirely self-contained and require no references in the army books. Neither of these are intended as a signal that we are never going to do/ immediately going to do (delete as appropriate) a Dogs of War supplement. They are simply a sort of house-cleaning procedure that leaves us clear to evaluate and pursue the correct course of action regarding Dogs of War in the future." So, once and for all, yes, you CAN take mercs in your Greenshins army, despite the fact that you don't have the rare choice option. The link to the quote on the GW UK website can be found uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=List_Models&code=301082&orignav=13

I never saw a problem with the new O&G and Empire book lists including RoR and DoW Giants since both specifically state what armies can take them and what slots they take. However, neither new book nor the regular DoW army list state what armies can take what from the regular DoW list. I'd say the regular DoW list is a no-go for the 2 new books despite what Gav said ... JMO though.

I don't care either way. This seems to be GW's official stance, but they don't seem to recognize that the generic DOW rules don't tell you how they can be used other than in a DOW army. Bah, I say play them as normal, it's not that big a deal.

sure sounds to me like they are going away but they do not want to cut off any options. As they are mostly out of print anyways and GW has not released any of the models I would think they are quietly being removed. Are they legal in GTs?

they don't seem to recognize that the generic DOW rules don't tell you how they can be used other than in a DOW army. . actually strait from the PDF it says Seems like an unusually simple statement from GW They also have 2 pdfs of lists of who can take what with all the extra lists like demonic legions and others. Where is the confusion? Cause i dont understand. to Boldo on GTs their GT rulebook says... Seems like fairly inrestricted access based only on pts army and available slots.

Aha. Some of us use the actual list from chronicles which does not have that new convenient chart GW has posted on their site. Yep, says right in the new chart O&G and Empire can use the normal DoW units and what slots each uses.
