Hey all, this is Geordie... the guy who plays with sean's lizards (!?) and asks a lot of annoying questions. I just wanted to say hi and express how appreciative I am of the this gaming community and the people within. (awwww) Also, I would like to present an army list and ask for suggestions... Lizardmen 2250: 1 slann, 5th gen, bsb, +1 dispel and casting dice (50 pt. magic item) 16 temple guard, sb, mus. 16 saurus, hw/sh, sb, mus. 16 "" 16 "" 16 "" 3 kroxigors 1 stegadon 3 terradons 6 chameleon skinks explanation: -the 16 saurus might seem like an odd number... I want 15 for ranks and 1 as a buffer in case of a stray arrow -trying more units of smaller size as opposed to less units of bigger size (bigger battle line, harder to flank) -going for a very general jack of all trades list that can have a decent game against any army Any suggestions appreciated

Very tame as far as lizard armies go. Dare I say underpowered? I'm not sure I'd bother with the Slann in this type of list. He's alot of points for a list that wants to get into combat right away. One extra saurus per unit might be the wrong way to go, skinks screen missiles much more effectively and give you a few shots to fire off yourself.
Give it a try - it can work, but I think you will have trouble holding your own here against "all-comer" lists.

16 saurus seems odd to me and particularly for the temple guard which get the slann and he is 6 models large and they are stubborn with him. Is the magic item really better then the 4th gen slann? Why not make him a BSB?
Just some ideas

ok, so this is my new list. It's a bit more focused and it doesn't have a slann in it.
General:
Saurus Oldblood on carnosaur (!) Mark of Itzl and Mark of Old Ones Light Armor Spear Maiming Shield venom of the firefly (extremely cheap (15 points), lets me effect ethereals and the like, gives poison on top of that)
Skink Priest (lvl 2)
Skink Priest (lvl 2) dispel scroll
20 saurus HW&S full command
15 saurus ""
15 saurus ""
15 skinks (scouts) blowpipe
15 skinks blowpipe
15 skinks blowpipe
5 saurus cavalry full command war banner
stegadon
3 terradons
My goal is to be more combat oriented while still being able to do something in the magic phase. Strategy is as follows:
terradons and scouting skinks go war machine hunting and/or march block those on my weak flank
lord on carnosaur, stegadon, and saurus cavalry all rush the extreme flank (hopefull their weak flank) with one non-scouting skink unit shielding them from any missle fire
saurus warriors are deployed in middle but more towards my own strong flank leaving one side of my deployment zone completely empty. Other non-scouting skink unit shields them from missle fire. These guys rush up to form a battle line and cover the flanks of my big flank rush.
skink priests run around with skink units and support/pick out other skirmishing units and/or small units with magic
alright, so is my strategy sound? Or is there a big hole in it? Is it too one dimensional? And how's the army list in general? I know that a lord on a carnosaur is probably not a common choice, but I wanted to try it... is it really that much worse than a slann?
Thanks guys!

I like it. There might be a few things I'd play around with (like split the 2 skink units into 3x10). Its a bit odd seeing an lizzie army without two of the "mainstays" -Kroxigors & Salamanders- but it looks very playable, fun and does something in every phase.
