Was reading Penny-arcade and aparently a new expansion for Dawn of War has been announced. Aparenlty they're gonna include Tau and some other race that was hinted at in the end of Winter Assault. www.penny-arcade.com/www.relicnews.com/

well now the real question will be: is it better than the tau mod I just downloaded?

I think that the Necrons could be coming up. I do not own the game but I have downloaded a demo of the first one. At the end of the intro, it did have monoliths dropping from the sky. Im not saying it will be Necrons, but I think the Necrons would look cool in DOW and they kind of hinted it at the end of the intro. Just my take on this.

Um, Br1an.....if you are referring to tthe intro of the original DOW, then those are Marine Drop Pods...
Why the hell would necron monoliths be coming in to reinforce the Blood Ravens? Nevermind, DON'T answer that...

The way that they are shown is 4 sides and have the things on the top like the things over the crystal on a monolith. As far as I know, drop pods have 8 sides and I dont really recall whats on the top. And BTW, who ever said that the unknown ships were coming to reinforce the Blood Ravens.

Strangely enough, Br1an might be right.
Though the cut scene at the beginning of DoW definitely features marine drop pods, there is evidence to suggest that necrons will be the second race added.
Breaking it down for a moment, we see that there aren't many choices left for the second race. Since we know for sure the Tau are in, the only races left are...
-Inquisition -Tyranids -Necrons -Dark Eldar
Right away I'm thinking that the Inquisition and the Dark Eldar probably are not making it in. They already did an Imperial expansion and the Dark Eldar are less than popular.
This leaves us with Bugs and Bots. Now I've heard several times that the Relic does not want to even attempt the tyranids for various reasons. This may or may not be true, but the strongest piece of evidence to suggest the Necrons is their spooky and unexpected cameo at the end of Winter Assault.
Just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the bots show up for the next round.

Becuase first off: The original dawn of war preview has ONLY orks and Space marines in the intro. Also in the intro it shows a drop pod coming down and landing. Also it shows drop pods coming from the air to reinforce the blood ravens from the orks.
The Winter assualt expansion actually has Necrons in it. So I wouldnt be surprised if Necrons were the other race with the Tau.

And yes, they are definitely drop pods. If you watch carefully, you can actually see the first one to land open up as it touches down.
A space marine drop pod has 5 sides, not 4.

I'll put my money on the necrons for the new expansion as well. They took the easy way out buy using guard for winter assault... remember how guard were in the original. Had an IG mod for it myself.....
Even if they don't ever add bugs, that nid mod that's floating around out there shows promise. I like the build tree, and the "without end" squads. Just wish they would hurry up and do the models.
