I watched "Patton" this weekend, and thought it would be neat to piece together Rommel's DAK panzerkompanie near the beginning of the movie. All I found out was trying to build a German panzer co is an exersize in futility! After Rommel, company command, 2 platoons of 3 panzer IIIs, and 4 captured honey stuarts (just because Rommels rules lets ya! ;D ) I had about 150 pts left to hit 1500! Not to mention the only infantry I could add were expensive pioneers. No room for support - and I still wanted to add Stukas since they kicked a$$ in the movie! Is 13 tanks enough to cut it?

Command tanks were Ns, the others were L/M (same thing ruleswise, right?) 25pts per tank upgrade stings after a while.
I started out just goofing around, yet I probably should build an axis army - just because! The pt cost is so stifling that what Rommel adds is barely noticeable because ther is so little for him to affect.

I always bring my german stuff so its available. Besides I have my British 6th Armored division built so it'd be fun to slug it out with a DAK armored co. I worked out a list from the downloaded excel files in another post I made and came out with; Rommel (isn't he in a IIIJ?) 3 stuarts 190 CO: IIIL 115 2IC:IIIJ 90 4 III'Ls 460 4 III'Ls 460 priority air support Stukas 175 total 1490 with 10 whole points to spare schurzen maybe 13 tanks isn't bad for a panzer co using III's. Its about all I get with my panzer co too. I dropped the Ns for Ls cause they aren't any different cept for 3+ to 4+ firepower. I don't think two tanks with that will make much difference. I would say it comes down to strategy on how effective this list is. Alot of use out of the stormtrooper move and terrain. Shermans and M10s would be a headache and Churchills at range could out gun this CO. in a head to head fight. Gonna have to be smart like a fox,, a desert fox. Ha! Segue into comments from the current resident panzer Hauptmann,,,,,,,
