From what I've seen in small games, a Necron list like this could be pretty strong:
Elite: Immortals (6) Troops: Warriors (14) Troops: Warriors (14) Fast Attack: Destroyers (3) Heavy Support: Heavy Destroyers (1) Heavy Support: Tomb Spyder (2)
Total Roster Cost: 997
Like theblklotus said, you have a ton of range on a 48" square board with the immortals and destroyers (and 24" for stationary warriors). At S6 T6 and 2 wounds, the Tomb Spiders will be solid in HtH, and on a small board the Particle Projector could be very useful. Your phase out number would be a respectable 9.
Just a thought.
I'd post the chaos list that I would play, but it's tooooo good. This could be a lot of fun...

as for Necrons..... Many Necron lists look good on paper, but with the limits set by this event and the way the necron army works in 5th edition their strong points do not hold up well enough. I have no problem coming up with a nasty list for this fight with the necrons.
Many lists I would think would depend on whether or not we will be using the standard missions.
Also i notice it says models must be painted and based, does this mean there is some painting score?
I take it there is no comp either? Joe Dirt vs Joe Dirt is all good and a fun idea that i stated in my first post, but if its just the required 1 squad of Joe Dirts and the rest of the army is lethal elites or heavy support, eh where is the fun in that?

Looks like it's all good for the Dark Eldar. You can't bring a Talos or an Archon, all other units are good to go.

To be quite honest, the lethal units are already reduced by the restrictions and anything left is limited to points cost. Players will find it alot more challenging to make the uber list in only 1000pts.
but You did have a valid question as to what missions will be played, made up ones, the 5th ed ones or the old 4th ed ones? Im sure this is still in the planning stage so pls get back to us when you guys figure it out.

I really have to dive into 5th edition and see what the missions look like.
Some stuff I know that I will include:
1)The models will have to be painted to a basic standard (I do not like playing anyone that has unpainted models in a tourne setting). 2)Sportsmanship will be a part of the tourne. A separate score voted entirely by the field of players. 3)Best painted army will be voted by the players. 4)Most games will be "alpha" style... I do not thinking beating an opponent to a pulp is where the fun/strategic games are at.
More info to come as I lay this out.

Hey, this actually sounds like a lot of fun...if I can get a ride out there, then I'd be more than willing to play...as soon as I get my models finished! There isn't any horrendous entrance fee to this, is there?
