Questions About DaBoyz GT 2009

Hey folks,

I know it's a bit early to think about 2009, but since having so much fun at the last GT (at Geneseo) I've been working up a brand new army. I've gotten fairly heavily into building it and the base and now I've suddenly realized that I have been working on assumed knowledge (which we all know is a dangerous thing!). So let me ask a couple of questions before I build out the army too far.

1. Previously, every army has had to have 3 VIP models, and 3 objective models for several the scenarios. However, my understanding (from the rumor mill) is that 5th edition only has 3 kinds of missions. Will I still need the VIPs and objective markers?

2. At the 2008 GT the army point total was 2150. Will it be the same for the 2009 event?

3. Anything else I should know?

Hi Scott.

Glad that you are looking ahead to the future and next years GT. Nothing is set in stone or even discussed really but I will try and answer these questions to the best of my knowledge.

1) I do not see any missions involving VIP's anymore however some of the new standard missions involve objectives. I would build 5 objective markers. You will use them in many of the new 5th edition games even if you don't need them for the 2009 GT.

2) No point value has been set yet. 2150 was chosen for last years GT so that players could take some seldom used, "fun" units for variety. Standard GW GT builds are 1750 and do not leave players the room to take anything but the best, most effective units in their army. That being said, I am sure that the point total for next year will be somewhere between these two numbers or 2150 again.

3) Nothing new yet. Keep building and painting your army, check the website, plan ahead ( cough, Soleman, cough.... ) and you will be prepared when the GT rolls around!

Never you mind, Major Dragon Breath! My nids will be painted by September! Too bad you won't be at the Apocalypse game for them to eat your face! ;D

I'll even have a single model entry and squad entry for the Midnight Madness event. If I can ever get my hands on Special Dave, I might even get my tyrant back in time to be able to play on Friday.
