Escalation League Week 1 400 points (combat patrol organization) Army : Tau Empire 6 Fire warriors with Pulse carbines 12 Fire Warriors with pulse Rifles 10 Kroot 1 Piranha with Burst cannon and seeker missile 1 Sniper Team
A good number of troops. A small vehicle and even some “big guns” in a cheap heavy support. Hopefully variety will carry my small size and dismal leadership 7
Game 1 : Opponent Chaos Daemons. Objective: Single marker in middle of table. I get to pick the board edge which is good but there isn’t going to be anyone to shoot. Everyone gets placed on the board. The Kroot in a little patch of forest and everyone nearby for covering fire and a handy kroot rescue if I am assaulted. Turn one a pack of plague bearers and a Fiend of slaanesh appear. I manage to only shoot a copple down but my Piranha gets rid of the solo Fiend. Little surprise that the plague bearers charge my big squad of Fire Warriors. A couple are lost but they manage to hold the line. The Kroot race from their woods to help out the greater good and eat the plague bearers down to one. (Which is actually good because a bunch of horrors show up and cant shoot them.) Furies appear and run toward me. Along with the horrors who show up and immediately kill my sniper team. (Stealth field isn’t that good when they are only a few inches away.) 1 Wound on the Tau with the drone controller kills the whole team. The Kroot and Fire warriors finish off the plague berers in time to run forward and shoot down the furies who had hidden themselves away in the Kroot’s woods. The Piranha shoots down a couple horrors. Without any other daemons coming the leftover horrors kill a few tau but get a helping of Kroot close combat and get whipped out. Victory Tau -+- Game 2 : Opponent Daemon Hunters. Objective: Kill Points I chose table side, and sent the Kroot to outflank. I must have had the stench of Daemons still on me because Short Bus’ Had 2 squads of Grey knights to face off with me. One Stayed off the table ready to deep strike and the other Set up in a building across a long firing lane. On my first two turns I got messed up by the Emperors candles cause I could not spot a single grey knight to shoot. Even though by round tau were being shot at. Ha ha The greater good loves me because the teleporting grey knights have a deep strike mishap and all die! The other squad of grey knights shoots up my snipers. (1 Wound to the tau with the drone controller kills them all) I rev up the Engines on my Piranha and fly over a building. Did I say over? Turns out it was more like strait into destroying the vehicle killing the crew and one attached gun drone. I kill off a few grey knights with Pulse rifle fire. While Short Bus recovers from his laughing at my tau driver’s mad skills. I lose a few firewarriors but by return fire kills them off. Winning me the game. -+- Game 3 : Opponent Orks. Objective: 1 in each deployment zone. I get to pick side. We play dawn assault. There are about 40 orks all with guns. Some of which have longer ranfe than I do. My Kroot take position in the woods with my objective. My fire warriors advance. They are happy about the darkness which protect them from lootas and a shock attack gun. Only I single squad of orks advances on me and they get shot up pretty bad. The Shock attack gun and lootas however devastate my whole force. Even hiding in the woods and going to ground does not save my Kroot. They take a few casualties and flee off the objective on the last turn. The orks who still have a few shoota boyz standing next to their initial objective win. If only my woods were closer to the center, because the kroot didn’t get to shoot much. -+- Game 4 : Opponent Codex Space Marines. Objective: 3 markers outside of our deployment zones.. Dragon gets to pick side and sets up a mini armored force among a set of buildings. A small unit of marines in a razorback, a small unit of marines in a building and 3 units of land speeder. (wow, a lot of heavy bolters to worry about.) I set up across with good fields of fire, taking cover where I can. The Kroot are sent to outflank. Success! I steal the first turn. I manage to shoot down a marine and blow off the twin linked heavy bolter from the razorback. My Piranha races across the board to get in a good firing position. Dragon races one of his speeders into the wall of a building destroying it and the other two kill a couple fire warriors and my sniper team. (again with 1 wound to the controller) Team tau come in very strong shooting down both land speeders. And outflanking just where I wanted, the kroot race on the board close to an objective. The small fire warrior squad positions themselves to take another. The marines move into position taking two objectives. The razorback drives up into a set of woods between the squad it carried and my Pulse rifle line. The small tau squad shoots down a marine pinning the squad while the pulse rifles advance and destroy the razorback. The kroot advance on an objective again taking cover from the marines still in the building. The marines in the building try to shoot down my Piranha but miss. Then dragon curses as the roll to see if the game ends lets us play another turn. The pulse rifles and pulse carbine squad both shoot at the marines in the woods killing them all. The Kroot advance into the building contesting the objective held by the marines. The Kroot let loose a volley of fire that kills a couple marines and the squad breaks. The marines run but not far enough to get 6 inches away from the Kroot. Dragon is forced to retreat again off the table ending the game. Victory Tau
-+- 3 wins 1 loss (I will get you Big Mec Snorville!!!!) Lessons learned: Kroot are a lot better than they used to be with better cover and outflank but are panicky as hell. Pulse rifles continue to be worth their weight. Looking forward to 600 points wondering if I should add more fire warriors or more kroot.
How went the rest of your games? Mc Commander any interesting ones?

Escalation League Week 1 400 points (scimitar pattern patrol) Army : Black Templars 7 Man Crusader Squad w/ bp & ccw (5 ini + 2 neo) 7 Man Crusader Squad w/ bp & ccw (5 ini + 3 neo) 5 Man Crusader Squad w/ bolters and missile launcher 5 man Crusader squad w/ bolters and plasma cannon
Every last man who shows up can claim an objective. Big guns thrown in just in case someone tries to get sassy with a heavy bolter razorback *cough* half my opponents *Cough*. No power weapons or fists could be trouble.
Game 1 Opponent: Soleman (Space Wolves) Objective: Single marker in middle of table
Soleman and I lined up for a rumble of the close combat maniacs. He chose sides, and I set up my shooty boys on a nearby hill. Turn one the beatings began. As our respective close combat units ran up to the large hill in the center of the board, hidden by it's sheer height, the shooty aspects of our armies opened up on each other. The missile launcher boys had angry conversation with his heavy bolter razorback, though to little effect on either side. The razorback scored a kill, which enraged the missile squad (They killed Bob, Get 'Im!) Squad plasma Bob got shot by some sneaky scouts, decided that this particular objective wasn't really THAT important, and hiked it off the board.
Meanwhile the crazies met in combat in the center of the board. Two big squads on either side clashed, and the main combat of the game begun. Steve's power weapon sergeants made templars die, but the fearless crazies stuck it out. In a bizzare turn of events, the missile boys ended up charging into combat as well, wanting to avoid sniper fire and help out their beleaguered comrades. The templars eventually fought their way out of both combats, with three scoring units chilling on the objective.
The only thing that really saved me in this round was some truly atrocious dice rolls plaguing Soleman. Just as it looked like my boys were lost, suddenly he couldn't roll a 4 to wound, and his armor saves were a lot of 1's and 2's.
Templar victory!
-+-
Game 2 Opponent: K-Dawg (Dark Angels) Objective: Kill Points
Time to go get 'Im!
Yeah. All I can say is, librarian = bad news for poorly armed templars.
Librarian: Hey, it's the Templars! I bought some news...
Templars: Is it good news?
Librarian: Nope, it's looking pretty bad actually. As a matter of fact is looks like... force weapon!
Templars: Hurgle!
Templar defeat!
-+-
Game 3 Opponent: Special Dave (Sisters) Objective: Objectives
Dave and I managed to somehow play this game wrong. We ended up doing the d3+2 objectives thing. Anyways.
Dave had a single units of 20 sisters + small cannoness. My marines looked at each other and said the same thing "Oh hell no."
Squad plasma bravely took the vicious mob in the face while the other three charged around the back to lay claim to the other objectives. Thanks to some amazing rolling on Daves part, the mob was able to haul ass around the board and chase down all but one of my squads, and some further amazing rolling ensured that they lost virtually no one to the Templar attacks. I think at one point I had dave rolling 10 or so armor saves and he made all of them. Thankfully though, he only had his one scoring unit, and one of the crusade squads was too far away for him to reach before the game ended, and we both had a objective to our name.
Tie
-+-
Game 4 Opponent: Norton (Blood Angels) Objective: Objectives
We played the same game again with 4 counters between us. Squad missile launcher finally pulled their weight by blowing up Norton's Razorback. Squad plasma essentially failed utterly, and when it came down to it, we both had 2 objectives, and not enough men or guns to go get another.
Props go to Norton's 1 Death Company boy, affectionately referred to as Brock Sampson. Brock took the entire plasma squad to the face before laying down, and only begrudgingly at that. I can't imagine how I'm going to deal with those zany bastards at 2000 when Norton has like 12 of em.
Tie
-+- 1 win / 1 loss / 2 Ties Lessons learned:
1) This league is like 75% 3+ armor. We need more power weapons. Between this week and next week there are three guys who are having their swords repainted from steel to glowing blue.
2) What makes the Templars such a powerful fighting force is the sheer weight of numbers that we can press into an attack. Apart from the points I'll be spending on power blades, the most important element of transitioning to 600 points has to be beefier and more powerful crusader squads. Hell with missiles, we'll just punch your rhino dead.
3) I want my GD Emperor's Champion back. Stupid no 2+ armor save rule...

Escalation League Week 1 400 points Army: Crusader Hawks (Codex Marines) 6 Tactical Marines with a flamer and a vet sergent with power sword 5 tactical marines with a plasma cannon and a plasma gun 10 scouts with bolters, missile launcher, and vet sergent with combi-melta
All scoring, some tactical diversity, few kill points.
Game 1 Opponent: Blood Angels (Norton)
The blood angels took up a firing position in a building with a good view of the objective. I deployed my shooty marines in as much cover as I could get on the opposing hill. (Not much) Scouts held in reserve for an outflank. Shooting duel commences. My plasma cannon is proving to be less than effective, deviating all too much. My combat marines move towards some trees on the flank hoping to gain some cover until they can make a dash for the objective. Bob the Death company gives my combat marines a helping hand by moving into a position to be charged. The over-run after killing Bob puts them in cover behind the objective. Hunkered down to avoid being shot. This forces the razorback to come out of hiding to get it's squad to the objective. My plasma cannon finally kills something...the razorback. No-one inside dies, but now they have to hoof it. At about the same time, my scouts come in, and they come in on the best flank, moving up on the BA fire-base, almost destroying the scouts. My scouts do an admirable job of keeping his fire base busy, while combat commences in the middle. My two marines (One is the vet) take a charge from 3 of his. Both sides lose one. Next round of combat sees the vet dispatch both of his remaining opponents, and survive the hits inflicted upon him. He then hunkers down to hold the objective for the rest of the game.
Hawks Victory (Vet now needs a name. Using a variation on DaBoyz tradition, he is now named Mikkel Njordr)
Game 2 Opponent: Chaos Marines (Gary)
My trhee kill points to his two. Oh well, I set up my marines in a shooting line to try to whittle down his berzerkers before they get to me. Scouts in reserve for an outflank. (Probably should have had them stay too)
He advances, I shoot him. He advances, I shoot him. He advances and shoots a little, one of my squads falls back, I shoot him. He advances, shoots some more, my scouts come in and everybody shoots him. His one surviving berzerker charges the scouts, killing two and dieing. Plague marines charge one of my marine squads. Battle is short. My other marine squad charges his plague marines. In three rounds of combat, my sergent wiffes on either hits or wounds...mostly hits. Game ends with plague marine champion alone staring down eight scouts with guns.
2 kills points to one, Chaos Victory. (cursed random game length.)
Game 3 Opponent: Codex Marines (Dragon)
Well, we were in the room where everyone screwed up the mission. We played for five objectives outside deployment. I set up my marines on two of the objectives, including the center one to force a push back. Held my scouts for an outflank. Game became a gruleing shooting grudge match, seeing who could survive the most abuse. At one point, one of his scoring units broke and ran, coming up millimeters short of fleeing the table. (4 or more and they wer gone. He rolled a three) In the end, we each held an objective, and we both were fighting over another.
Hawks lose.
Game 4 Opponent: Dark Angels (Chris)
Back on my first battle field. This time I take the building and leave him with the poorly covered hill. As we were both in the room that mixed up the games previously, we switched for the one we should have played. One objective in each deployment. My shooters commenced a duel with his shooters. He had the advantage with more big guns. My combat group tried to advance under fire, faling miserably, although inflicting some damage on his combat group in passing. Things were looking bad until my scouts came in. My preference would have been to come in on his side, using the fresh guns to blast him off his objectiveand take the shooting pressure off my shooting squad, but it was not to be. Instead, they ended up reinforcing my objective, which was the beginning of a tense shooting duel. In the end, he was unable to shoot my last scout from under my objective, and while I had shot him off his, he consolidated back onto it in the last turn.
Draw
-+-
1 win, 1 loss, and 2 Draws. Could do better, but I don't feel bad as 1 draw and 1 loss came down to some tense dice rolling. Outflank is potentially game winning, but it can be a gamble. And, I need to not rely upon it so much. In at least one game, having them on the table could have made a difference earlier. Have my 600 planned out (barring any changes of heart). Looking forward to using the new codex next time.

Escalation week one 400 points Army: Úlfhéðnar of Fenris (Space Wolves) 6 grey hunters in a HB razor back (bolters and CCW 1 PW) 8 Blood claws Melta gun and PW 4 scouts (3 snipers, one ML) Game 1: Opponent: James (Black Templar) Objective: Single marker in the middle of the table. First the templar missile launcher hit the track on my razorback and it stops dead (immobilized) just 4" away from the objective (maybe even 3.5, but definitely over 3) Meanwhile, my snipers came in on his flank and caught his plasma dudes unaware. They were sent packing because they couldn't figure out where the fire was coming from. At the same time as James said we played King of the Hill and Superman and our boys stood there punching each other in the arm as hard as they could for most of the game. He had me out numbered and took some losses, but eventually prevailed. Templars win. Game 2: Opponent Doug: Nurgle Chaos Objective: kill points I shot him, he fell down, then got back up. I shot him again, again he felt no pain. In close combat, I hit him, he again felt no pain. Plague marines began bashing, space wolves died, it wasn't pretty. Chaos win Game 3: Opponent: Short bus. Objective: 1 in each deployment zone. I lined up with scouts on the objective to provide cover fire and blood claws in the building as a counter attack force. Grey hunters in the bus to the front lines. 1 squad of Grey knights in the back ground. 1 waiting to deep strike. Snipers tried to shoot him, but couldn't see because they are so sneaky. Razorback rushes forward and pulls off a few shots, maybe took out a guy (I don't remember for sure). Short bus turn, moves up on me. My turn 2 a little more successful with the shooting this turn took out a few more of the squad on the board, boyz get out of the bus and throw out the lead. Shortbus's second squad comes in dangerously close to my back lines and my objective, returns fire and takes a couple of my guys. The snipers and ML send shells into the nice pretty pile after. Next it's time to loose the hounds and the blood claws came crashing in. The grey knights take some with him, but the shear number of attacks and some lucky/unlucky rolls means the blood claws decimate his squad. The pups clean up the rest next turn. We now can go back to the first squad and finish what we started. Result, threat eliminated. Wolves win Game 4: Opponent Zach (Tyranids) Objective (4?) One objective was in the middle, one in a building in my deployment zone, one in his deployment zone, and another somewhere else. Grey hunters start in the building leaving the razorback free to provide fire support. Here come the bugs! The boyz set up a nice firing line and start layin it out. Bugs die, but they keep coming. Warriors concentrate on taking out the razor back. They get close, but can't quite pull it off. Blood claws move the form the first line of defense before the onslaught, to protect the objective. More bugs are shot dead, a warrior or two falls, yet on they come, determined to eliminate that which is between them and their next meal. They come crashing into the blood claws. The battle is bloody and many bugs die, but the line finally breaks as the blood claws fall. The grey hunters rally and take out all but 1 warrior and a lone gaunt, who runs (in a nice move) back to the objective in its deployment zone, setting up the tie. The warrior moves to the middle objective and takes cover within the scafolding of the windmill and continues to try to take out the razor back. The razor back returns fire missing by miles (apparently the gunner sneezed as he pulled the trigger ), but it's finally felled by bolter fire. In a last ditch effort, snipers take out the final gaunt, thus eliminating the threat. Wolves win! 2 wins 2 losses Lessons learned: Never fail your leadership check for counter attack! Sniper scouts are not to be underestimated Feel no pain is huge On a side note, I finally found an army more expensive than space wolves. At 400 points, only short bus had less models on the table than me. A lot of great looking armies out there. I had a blast in each of my games! Can't wait until next week!

Escalation League week 1: 400 points Army: Hell's Inferno (Chaos) List: Squad of Eight frothing loonies (Berzerkers) Squad of Seven Rotting Carcasses (Death Guard) w/ x2 plasma and aspiring champ w/ fist.
Game 1: Shaun B. w/ Orks
The objective is at the middle of the table, and my nurgle squad is there to protect. Loonies line up close to them to counter charge if needed. Shaun proceeds to drive his Trukk filled with Nobz towards the loonies and unloads 5 boyz at the squad. Took some casualties, but so did he. Overall, can't remember if he overtook in one shot, or what, I can't remember. I know I got the trukk with plasma death, though! Some turns after...Nurgle continues to hold the objective. Two squads of boyz charge in, but just don't cut it, death guard are just too tough! One squad is completely decimated, the other continues to fall back and charge...multiple times! Each time, it is driven back and it manages to charge again! Finally, the last turn of the game, since Shaun goes last, he gets within 3" of me and my objective...with ONE BOY. Grr...
Game, set, TIE.
Game 2: Gabe, w/ Marines
He sets up soo far away! I start to run at him with my frothing loonies, and shoots at them. Casualties start to fall. I ran at him again! He shoots at them again, and more casualties fall. Meanwhile, Plague Marines are attempting to go around the pyramid to catch them off guard. Finally get to the front lines, and the loonies are left with like one guy! I charge in with berzerk fury! And die...but I take two along with me! HAHAHA! Death Guard then proceeds to attack, and takes out two squads, but at horrendous casualties. Game ends with my lone champ staring a squad of scouts in the face with a missile launcher with my name on it...thank goodness for random game length!
Game, set, WIN. *Gabe, that was a fantastic game, and to be honest, it should have been at least a tie, if not a win for you. Good game.*
Game 3: Doug with LOTS OF ROTTING DEATH (Chaos)
Three objectives are placed on the table. Made one crucial mistake that cost me the game: I went first. I should have made him set up first, but I didn't...god demmit. Anyways...he sets up as far away from my frothing loonies as possible, and takes my death guard squad with relative ease. Although, his feel no pain rolls were SOO much better than mine! Hmph...I feel pain and he doesn't...that's not fair! ;D ;D Anyways...long story short, he takes the death guard squad then proceeds to gang bang loonies.
Game, set, LOSS.
Game 4: K-dawg w/ Dark Angels
Two objectives in/close to my deployment zone, and one in the center of the board. His librarian and "other" squad come to the center objective, where he charges my death guard. Silly... Meanwhile, the berzerkers are taking refuge in the building with the other objective and sit there ducking for cover against his sniper and heavy bolter scouts, while the other part of the tactical squad rushes for the objective in the center. His librarian then proceeds to try and contest the berzerkers, and charges them...silly. Berzkers crush the librarian through weight of numbers, and then consolidate out of the building, since the scouts were forced to come get me...he couldn't see me in the ruins anymore! However, instead of charging the scouts, I made a mad dash for his remaining troops so he couldn't score the objective. I overrun his troops, and take the objective for myself, then the game ends.
Game, set, WIN.
Overall, 2-1-1. Not bad, I like the way this list is playing out. Not to mention (and I hate to beat a dead horse, but...) I absolutely love seeing all painted models on the table (get moving D-dawg! You can do it!), and like seeing people critique my work.
See Doug?! I CAN PAINT! Can't wait for the 19th!

Escalation League Week 2 - 600 points Army: Crusader Hawks (Codex Marines) 10 Tactical Marines with a plasma cannon, a plasma gun, and a vet sergent with power sword 10 scouts with bolters, missile launcher, and vet sergent with combi-melta 10 Assault Marines with 2 flamers and a sergent with lightning claws
Changes from previous week: Merged two squads into one, and brought in the assault marines.
Some close combat smack with flexibility for scoring. As few as 3 kill points, but as many as 4 scoring units.
Game 1 Opponent: Orks (Orville)
Hadn't played him in awhile, so I figured I'd take a shot at ending his streak. Bad idea.
So, I set up in good position. But, it went down hill from there. First, the orks stole the intiative. Then, his shock attack gun killed both my plasma cannon and my plasma gun. Then he proceeded to chew up the rest of the combat squad, leaving only one marine. I try to outflank him with my assault squad, but he manuevers to shoot them, as well as maneuver his truck boys to charge them. They survivethe shooting, and when forced to make a break check, I put into use the new combat tactics rule to fall back from the truck boyz. Dicey move as it put me right on the table edge, but it allowed me to move in on my turn, torch half the squad with my flamers and assault the rest. End up chasing them down. That would be the last good thing for me though. His shock attack gun did not miss the entire game, and his other shooting wasn't too shabby either.
At the end of turn 5 I had one marine contesting an objective, and he held no others. That one marine was all that was left. The dice gods were not with me as the game went on one more turn, and I think you can all see where this went.
"So who was the genius who told us Orks couldn't shoot?"---Sergent Mikkel
Hawks lose
Game 2 Opponent: Sisters (Special)
Objective in each deployment zone. Things started out poorly as my plasma cannon overheated, (not frying himself at least), and his return shooting tore apart my other combat squad, leaving only Sergent Mikkel. But, in the second turn, despite being shot at before, my Assault squad jumps on his retributer squad. Can't kill them, but ripped them apart. His 20 strong squad then piles into the combat, and thus begins the slug fest. Managed to break the retributors at one point, was able to shoot them with my recently arrived scouts. Only killed one. They then charged the scouts, and got beat down, allowing the scouts to then charge into the big fight. Fight eventually ended when I finished off the last sister.
Meanwhile my poor tactical squad does nothing but sit on an objective and watch.
"So, who brought the popcorn?"
Despite eliminating all of his squad, and directing several power weapon and eviserator attacks on my assault sergent, Dave was unable to kill him, and he accounted for a large portion of the kills. So, he is henceforth known as Spyros Dafydd.
Hawk victory.
Game 3 Opponent: Codex Marines (Dragon)
Kill point mission. I have three to give up, he has lots. I think, "Hey, if I kill two or mor and don't die, it's all good."
Yeah...right. Plasma cannon cooks himself, and the rest of my guys can't hit the broadside of a barn. Meanwhile, they apparently forgot to seal their armor, and were unable to make a save at all. I scored my two kill points, but apparently surviving the fight was beyond them this time.
Hawks lose.
Game 4 Opponent: Sisters (Dave again)
So, apparently we needed a rematch. We go for kill points using dawn of war on the lava table. I set up using a well protected postion in the middle of the lava field. Dave's big squad took the long way around to get into my area, while his shooters moved on and tried to play keep away with my assault marines. My scouts climbed on top of a hill and said, "Hey, look. They have 4 heavy bolters." And then a lot of them died. Only the sergent survived to the end of the game, and only by hiding behind a hill after the rest of his squad was torn apart.
Meanwhile, my tactical squad took up position on the central hill, funneling the big sister squad between two lava flows. With neither side wanting to charge through dangerous terrain, they slugged it out with guns. I shot better, but he shot more. I might have done ok if my plasma cannon hadn't decided to cook himself again. Neither squad got destroyed by the end though.
And my asault sqad managed to charge the retributors. They took 50% losses in getting there, but they got there. Both squads dished it out, with Dave using those sthingyy faith points to full effect. At the end of turn 5, all that was left of the combat were the respective sergents. And of course, the game ends there.
Dave is convinced his sister superior is in love with Sergent Dafydd since she could not kill him, despite having about ~9 total rounds of combat between the two games to achieve it.
0 kill points for either side, draw.
-+-
1 win, 2 losses, and 1 Draw. Really need to do better. Learned: So, I like the new codex, but it has some issues for my build. Bolter scouts are not as reliable as they were. They need to go for now. Have to replace them for next time. Really looking forward to next round. Army dynamic will change. Must try to avoid Orville's extremely accurate orks for a while. That game, while fun, was just a mess.

Chaos Cultist Crowd LIST: Eight frothing loonies, seven rotting carcasses with plasma death x2 and six guitar waving rockers!
Game 1: Black Templar (James) Well! Two crazy lunatic armies against each other!? What!? AWESOME! Well, shooting was easy enough: First turn, I shoot. He moves after I shoot. His turn, he moves and runs. My turn, I move the berzerkers and assault the squad closest to my objective. And, subsequently, I obliterate the squad. I'm actually quite surprised that they did that, but a.) I rolled awesome for that squads hits AND attacks (though it didn't really help that I had to hit and wound on threes!). I can't remember if they overtook first round or not...all I know is that the berzerkers in that game were awesome! And then the rest of the game was just the loonies and nurgle finishing off a second squad and then endless rounds of combat with the slaanesh marines. I must admit, though: James' rolls weren't that great. At all. Good game, though. Game, set, WIN.
Game 2: Tyranids (Zach) I thought since I played tyranids, it might be cool to play against them for once! Ooops... Dawn of war was kewl, cuz he was waaaay off over there, and I was way over here, but I forgot to check and see what squads had what upgrades...demmit. Obliterated a squad of stupid little spinegaunts, just for them to come back on his board edge...stupid without number... And meanwhile, the stealers actually found cover to advance through, and the ravener deep struck kinda close. The stealers get good fleet rolls and charge the berzerkers. Didn't last too long, but it still took two combat rounds... Eventually, it ended up being so that the nurgle were holding the objective and blasted the crap out of the other squads close to it. The spinegaunts sat on the objective over there, and nurgle had the objective over here secure. Then the game ended...oiy! Game, set, TIE.
Game 3: Nurgle Rotting Death (Doug) Demn you people for sticking cultists versus death guard! He only had 19 models, but all of his were better then mine...plus two rhinos makes that especially annoying, as I really don't have great weapons against them, and rhinos are REALLY good at blocking firing lanes... Anywho, I was hoping to pop some death guard with some REALLY loud noises, but I wasn't able. I should have known that anyways...oh well. I really tried to kill the rhinos so I could maneuver the slaanesh, but it just didn't happen. Eventually he got out, and blasted the ever loving daylights out of me. Game, set, LOSS.
Game 4: Khorne Daemons (Ron) Well, after DROOLING over Ron's models (love the paint scheme, and absolutely fantastic job painting, SPECIALLY the swords!), we actually played the game. And, I did pretty much how I thought I was going to do. I placed my two squads, and he deep struck in. He then ran them towards me. I double-tapped most of my guns at one squad, and shot and charged one of his bloodcrushers with my lunatic squad. Managed to kill it before swings back! YAY...oh. There's bloodletters over there...F$%^$%@ Balls! Well, luckily, I didn't completely die, but I did manage to come in and finish the squad. Not sure how, but I did. Also, my slaanesh were hanging out in the building, so they were having fun playing their guitars at things. Eventually, though...my shooting just wasn't enough. He got to charge numerous of my squads, and power weapons just HURT. Specially nurgle. It sucks. Big monkey balls. Game, set, LOSS. Definitely a great game, though.
Overall, 1-2-1. Not bad, though definitely not great. I really dropped in the standings, though. Don't really like that. Next week, though, everyone will face my wrath! MWAHAHAHA! I'm really liking this league!

The Black Templar chose the set up and won first turn. The two objectives were roughly center of the table on both sides. Dawn of war deployment threw everything into reserve except two 15 man Templar squads with a mix of Initiates and Neophytes. The Emperor's champion lead one of these units. Both of them deployed half way across the battle field in roughly the center of the battlefield. (as far in as the deployment allowed.)
Setting up in response to his very advanced position the tau did not defend their objective and instead set up a unit of fire warriors to each flank of the battlefield each a little further than pulse carbine range. The tau commander set up near the fire warriors with pulse carbines.
The Black Templar advanced on the tau flank containing the Tau commander. They ran but must not have been inspired because they didn't run fast. The Tau being advanced on backed away from the space marines and took position at the far end of their range again. Both fire warrior units concentrated their fire on the Templar who were not guided by the Emperor's Champion. many Marines fell from the combined fire and were forced to ground by pulse carbine fire.
Only a single unit of Black Templar cane in as reinforcements. They advanced onto the field and ran past their own objective trying to cross the field of battle as quickly as possible. The Emperor's champion advanced his unit on the fire warriors near the Tau Commander again swearing to deliver the Emperor's vengeance but again did not manage to run far. Tau reserves were more significant, All the piranhas and a sniper and Crisis team arrived. The piranha flew into intercept position blocking the advance on the fire warriors. The tau opened fire on the Black templar who they had already been firing on. Reducing the squad to a single Marine. The crisis suit which had moved onto the battle field near the Templar unit lead by The Emperor's champion shot out a single Neophyte Templar. Both Templar squads fled back toward their reserve lines. The tau crisis suit gave chase ensuring that The Emperor's champion would have no choice but to flee again.
The Rest of the Black Templar reinforcements arrived including a fourth large squad of templar that began their run across the battlefield, and a Land raider crusader full of elite sword brethren. The reinforcements all raced at best speed toward the tau while the Emperors champion's squad retreated. Initiate Joe found his nerve but choose to fall back toward the Black Templar's home objective. Tau reinforcements left only the Skyray and large squad of flanking Kroot auxiliary un accounted for. The hammerhead ship shot a solid slug clean through the smoke protecting the Land Raider Crusader. Its tracks tore from the tank with a hail of shrapnel. The rest of the tau advanced toward the Templar including a piranha which flew all out to threaten the Emperor's Champion again ensuring that the Marines would continue to flee. Shots were taken and the Templars first reserve. The Emperor's Champion again fled nearing the point of no return. Templar again advanced and ran toward the tau. Initiate Joe took position to defend the Templar objective. Sword brethren exited their land raider and charged at the advanced piranha tearing its seeker missile off. Firing from the land raider shook one of the tau piranha which was still only mid battlefield.... The last of the Tau reserves arrived. A large Kroot auxiliary force arrived at the flank of the Templar forces and ran further onto the field, however they were far from any Templar squads. The Tau skyray arrived as well instantly marking the closest unit of Templar marines. The shaken piranha sped across the field to help force the Emperors Champion to disengage from the field of battle. While the last piranha hovered over a sole crossing of an impassible chasm . Initiate Joe caught a rail cannon solid shot and died. While the most advanced unit of templar were forced to ground by sniper shooting and four marker lights.
The emperors champion lead his troops off the field disengaging from combat. A squad of Templar close to them charged the two piranha close to them tearing off both piranha s burst cannons. The sword brethren advanced on the last piranha and tore it from the sky even killing one of its drones. Leaving the last drone alone to guard the crossing. Tau fire power concentrated and destroyed the closest squad in who they had previously forced to ground. The single gun drone guarding the crossing forced the sword brethren to ground. The two back field piranha took positions to contest the Templar's home objective. Firing from the flanking kroot was of little effect.
The templar squad close to their own objective charged the two piranha skimmers contesting their vital objective but failed to damage them.
Called back by Black Templar high command the remaining marines retreated from the field in failure. Across the battle field the Tau Shas'el Commander beemed with pride. The greater good had beaten the Sand Dragons and now the Black Templar! The Emperor's finest were no match for tau firepower.
