I have discussed this a lot and I now need to start talking details. It will be at Rudicon which is held at RIT on October 13 -15.
We will play 5-6 games on Saturday and sunday. I asked Chris ot order plaques to start prizes. We will also need to make terrain. I think one Sunday a month starting in April should do. I know I am asking a lot but I thought people might make their own terrain and then bring it to the tournament. This will be nice and we can then plan themed tables.
Finally I need scenarios but I am interested in what people think might be a good theme for the tournament. I always like comp to matter but how would you like scoring and should we do some themed scenarios or penalizing scenarios. I really need to know what people think.
Thanks, Boldo

I think this is a great idea. I am willing to help with terrain and making themed boards. I have never made terrain, but it should be fun. How many boards do you think we will need? 20? 30?
As far as scenarios go I am sure we can come up with something.
The one major thing that made me and alot of people want to go to Adepticon is the prizes. Now I know we will start out small, but some solid prizes really will attract people.

I have a ton of pink insulation board already cut into odd shapes and sizes that I can donate toward terrain.
Ok, maybe not a ton, but it's enough that it is taking up space in my tiny apt that could be used for other stuff.

I'm more than willing tohelp out.
On a theme suggestion, a couple of us were talking about theme tables. There are rules for all these different environments, ad we almost never use them. We should put a table out for each environment. Getting them would be luckl of the draw. But we could have a jungle, a city, a tundra, a desert, a space hulk, a swamp, etc etc....

I liked the way comp was done at the GT's several years back. It was a score yourself system. Everybody started with the max points and went down from there based on their choices such as not maxing out their compulsory troops, percentage of wargear etc.
Theme should be rolled into painting (i.e. it should represent a presentation score).

As for the "coming for the prizes" thing, i remember one of the prizes Jay was giving at UNYcon (i think) was a bowl of bitz (which i won ;D) so I was pretty stoked about that. So maybe that would be a good idea for prizes. Or maybe just a couple random people win small prizes like that just to increase the fun that people are having.

Just wanted to list what has already been established "so-to-say" in regards to the 40k running and scoring of the tournament. Again, nothing is set in stone.
1) I believe I will be "running" the 40ktournament with a few other "judges" to assist in scoring (alex is in charge of the fantasy) The thoughts were Chris and Jay for painting and comp. Tommy for rules discrepancies during the games. This of course is subject to their willingness to participate in these manners. We will also need additonal individuals for assistance depending on the size of the tournament.
2) A portion of ones "comp" score will be predetermined via an established scoring sheet. Everyone will know what they scored prior to the tournament. An additional small portion will come from "judges discretion". This allows us to judge the persons "theme" and "Fluff".
3) Painting, Comp and sportsmanship will all be improtant in the overall score. (ie. Battle - 100 pts, and the other areas each worth 60 pts) This is just an example.
4) Trophies will be created/painted by various members as yet to be determined. Some form of prizes should also be offered.
5) Scenarios will also be predetermined (but played in a random order) prior to the tournament. Levels will be determined prior to the game (alpha, gamma, omega).
In general, we are looking to create an "all-around" quality gaming experience where the champion is the "all-around" best warhammer 40k gaming enthusiest.
At this time I ask for people to provide ideas, thoughts and or critisisms.

I was speaking with boldo about creating some terrain for this event. I would be willing to chip in some money to build new terrain. We need one night to sit down and figure out what boards there would be needed (like Ice/lava/forest/city/desert etc...) And then map out what one would look like. Waht pieces would need to be built.
I think this would be great because then after the tournement you would be able to replace the old terrain at boldos with the new pieces after the GT was over.
At the GT's sometimes the board has special rules applied to it on top of the mission that you play on it. I think this would be neat to try and acomplish.
Some of those sites that Doug and Deathwing put up offer cheap terrain or inexpensive ways to make terrain.

As a related idea, while we are making new terrain, we could also go through the old terrain and see what we can refurbish/salvage/chop for parts. It's not all bad, just in bad condition. Mind you, some of it is bad.

On the fantasy side, this tournament has a good chance of being one of the first big tournaments to run the new 7th ed rules. The new rules should be released august-september-ish.

It appears the the "official" indyGT point total for fantasy is 2250, and any manufacturers minis are allowed (as long as they represent the unit/model).
