What are the fantasy community's thoughts on Non-GW models in normal games? What about Local Tournaments?
I am fresh to the Fantasy game with just the Skull Pass rule book and a box of Dark Elf Cold Ones. In my glee to paint some nice models after gluing the cold ones together I started looking at Some of the Dark elf models looked a little dated and or did not fit with the theme I would like to have with my army, once its completed. So i started looking online and found some really nice models from a small retailer. I purchased two. i want to paint them up but don't want to be disappointed if I am unable to use them in games.
I have plans for converting some Dark Elf Witches, but they would use GW parts so that should be ok right?

Go for it as far as I'm concerned. Just make sure the bases are the correct size and the model is easily identifiable as to what it is.
The Griffon I use is Ral Partha I believe.

All the models will be on their proper bases. The two i bought are made to be replacements for the GW models. I am still on the lookout for decent witch elf models that I can use in replacement for the GW ones.

Hey Garou - Non-GW models are highly encouraged around here, and in the indy GT circuit. Of course the need to be based properly, and have to be able to vaguely pass as what they are representing in the game.
My HE mini-dragons as great eagles are legends....
I should mention that GW still has a GW models only policy for their tournaments, though.

Glad to hear it. My 40k army has some neat conversions from many fantasy bits. The models will deffinatly be very close to what they represent and based properly. Like a Black dragon in my army will be a dragon model, just from another supplier due to the look of the model fits my theme better than GW.
I don't see myself in any GW tournaments anytime soon with a fantasy army, but its good to know that a local tournament would not cause any trouble. Thanks for the tips all.
