Hey everyone!
I am here to announce the first annual Albany New York Badcon Warhammer Fantasy Tournament. Boldo has been gracious enough to help us out. The date has been pegged for the 7th of February however the rules for the tournament have not been finalized.
So far we want to do an escalation style tournament starting with 3 or 4 rounds.
the first round would consist of 1000pts, the second 1500, and the 3rd 2250pts.
some of the things we want to do would be:
4 rounds instead of 3 a 10 PD cap on magic per magic phase alternate painting system Comp system governing unit selection
The purpose of this thread is to help in putting on a tournament that is different from the usual tournament scene.
please respond with your sentiments, no ideas are automatically thrown out.
cheers!

Here are some of the ideas I have thought of. How about 1000pts, 1500pts, 2000pts and 2500 if we have four rounds. I also wonder about not going in order and having a round as teams. I also think we could do a simple comp: armies must have a positive score -1 for each duplicate special -2 for each duplicate rare -1 for each power die over 5 or dispel die over 4 which ever is greater -1 for each bound item, or spell like ability in the army -2 for each special character hero -4 for each special character lord -1 for each terror causer -1 for each duplicate core troop with missile weapons -1 for each character after the second Start with 10 pts and each round this is added to your battle score. Or you can use the Danish comp system which is discussed earlier on this thread.

I like them alot we should use this because it adds up to 40pts to battle score and makes it a consideration for those going for best overall etc. I made a few suggestions in bold. A question though, what if someone gets a negative score? can they only reach 0?
also the 4 round idea is good but if so for time considerations maybe doing that and a doubles round might take to long. but if you are confident it can be done i would like to see it. also mixing up the points from a nonlinear set up would be fun. sat start at 2000pts, then 1000pts, 2500pts and finishing with 1500pts.
I would also suggest we avoid an advance scenario it seems to help some armies and hurt others too. perhaps sticking to pitched battles, killing the general, and a kill them all one.
thoughts?

If we do battle as 20pts then the additional 40 is huge and I hope it has an influence. If we do 4 rounds then we probably have to do away witht he idea of a doubles but if we do 3 rounds then we can do a doubles. I just thought that as we have a 1000 and 1500 pt round these should be faster so we might be ab le to get 4 rounds done in a reasonable time frame.
What do you think? Boldo

I think we should do the 4 rounds at 1k, 1.5k, 2k and 2.5 k
i also think we should keep your comp idea and the 40pts max for the whole tourney. so we can keep comp important.
of so that gets down the basics and the comp. what kind of scenarios should we do?

So far a schedule has not been nailed down but registration will be close to 9am-10am with rounds starting at 10ish. It is only a one day thing that happens on the the 7th of February. The tournament will be a casual atmosphere so it is a great way to begin anew! Also bring as many friends as you wish. Payment will be accepted at the door and if you would like to preregister please email me at adriel.colon@gmail.com
-Cheers!

The tournament is Saturday Feb 7. Sign up is 9-10 with games starting at 10:30. Rounds will be at 10:30am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm, and 5pm. There will be lunch and prize judging after round 2. I expect to be done by 7:30pm. The fee will be $10 and we will have prizes for overall and at least best opponent (a combination of painting, comp, and sportsmanship). The overall prize will be a gift certificates. I hope this covers everything but I am sure I am missing something so please ask me more questions.

so i just spoke with my paymaster/general/shamen/fanatic/girlfreind and she says i can go. i know that sounds whipped. its always been the case so get used to it.
so ill be bringing my vampire counts to mop up the comp.
sorry you all have to lose.
also which army will be used to determine the comp scores?

The lists I figure should be continuations on the previous points total. so your lower points lists should be contained within the bigger ones.
Also all the armies will be used to determine comp scores. Each one gets 10pts for that round. so each player will hand in a copy of their lists and each points bracket will be judged out of 10. So after all 4 rounds the scores will be tallied.
and glad to see your coming! VC or not!
