RIT would like to hold another one day tournament this Saturday starting at 11am. It will be a 3 round tournament for 1500pts with painting and sportsmanship scored as well as battle. It will be in the SAU Cafe at 1 Lomb Memorial Drive. This is a great chance to play new players and is only $5.

That is a hellava change! So what are we bringing then, are we limited to "good guy" Imperial armies and the RIT guys are bringing the "Bad Guys" or what? Is there a $5 fee still and is there judging and prizes. Painting and sportmanship too? This kinda sucks I was planning on being there for a tourney now I probably wont show up for some poorly organized Apocolypse battle. Oh well...

Same here, was into this and was planning on busting out the smeldar if it was a smaller tourney. Not really into this if it is just a bring n battle at this point, but if I am around and about that are I'll prolly show up to see how things are going.

Now im not so sure I want to go to a apoc game.
Entrance fee? Prizes? all Paintined minis? Mission? Objectives? Teams? What army to bring? Who is imperials and who are enemies? Who is running this? Anything being judged? Sportsmanship? Painting? Its a little confusing going from a tournament into a apoc game. Any more info available?

It wasn't me. One of the RIT guys wanted to run something so they "asked" me if it would be okay for him to run something. Here are all the details I have:
Imperials vs. Xenos: The Relic of Mundros
What: A Titanic Warhammer 40k Mega-Battle (probably 15,000 - 25,000 points per side). This will be organized such that the game moves along smoothly (turn time limits, etc). Where: RIT SAU "Brick City" Cafe When: Saturday, Jan 10th. 11:00 am until the game has ended, probably around 7:00 - 8:00 pm (Including a 45 minute lunch break). Note: Please arrive early to help set up. Assistants please arrive promptly at 10:00 am.
Specific mission details and storyline will be provided to all players on Saturday (printed copies will be provided, etc). The table will be non-standard (It'll be huge), and the deployment zones etc. will be provided as well. Additional information will be provided on Saturday.
Several points-balanced apocalypse armies will begin on both the Imperial team and Xenos team. These armies will be comprised of models belonging to myself (Mike D) and others who will be assisting me in running the event. Anyone who would like to join in the fun (even if they don't have their own armies, is welcome to come and play with the figs already pre-set on the table). Also, players wishing to participate in the game are encouraged to bring their own armies, provided they have unofficial points tabulations (up to 3000 points!) following the standard apocalypse rules:
ie: *2 troops and 1 hq required *no cap on hq, troops, elites, fast attack, or heavy support units! super heavies/imperial armor units etc. are all allowed! If you must exceed your points limit to get all your super heavies in, consult me and I may be able to work around what you have. *Additionally, players owning more than one army may use the "allies" rule (they may make their army out of eldar and tau or orcs and necrons, for example) with one exception: Imperials MAY NOT be allied with non-imperials/Xenos, for fluff reasons.
Furthermore, each team will be assigned strategic assets that will be pre-set for the game, but will decide amongst themselves how to use them. Also, additional strategic assets may become available throughout the game, according to dice roll-offs corresponding to the battle raging in space over the planet, as well as other factors.
I am currently looking for two more volunteers to assist me in the running of the game, but they must be experienced (2+ years) players and preferably RIT students who I could meet with easily. Anyone who wants to assist, please e-mail me at this address: mike.defrancis@gmail.com.
I am not even sure what all this means and I am very sorry they did not let me run the tournament as I was sure we would have had a good turnout. I still encourage you to attend as there will still be a lot of guys you do not know and there is a huge amount of interest at the college but I also understand if you give this a pass.

Alex, thank you for the info and quick response. As much as it seems like a good time, I don't have enough lead time to prepare a decent Apocalypse style army that I would be proud to play on saturday, nor can I commit to that much time either. Please keep us posted on future tourneys, again thanks.

I dont think I can make it either I have a previous engagement I need to be at, at 7pm. That would result in me having to leave early and I hate that when people do this in a big game, so I will not do this unto others. I do wish you all good luck that are going and thank you Alex for the update.
