After much procrastination, i have finally decided to repaint the Necrons. Now mind you, I am no photographer, and not the greatest painter, but I feel these models show a great improvement in my skill. I do need to add a little bit of detail which I noticed while taking pics, like the warriors eyes, as well as fixing the thing on the heavy destroyers shoulder. I just wanted to post them for some constructive criticism. BTW, the blue on the arm of the heavy destroyer is like sticky tack because my cat apparently like the models, and i didnt have any glue in reach. I am aware of the green dot on the gun of the warrior, my mistake, I gotta fix it. The color I went for was a somewhat old, rusted and chipped look. The pictures drown a bit of the color out, but you'll get the idea. Enjoy!! Comments will be greatly appreciated EDIT - The last pic was just added. I found it going through the batch of photos i took. This is what the color of the models looks like. The other pics seem to have been drowned out a bit.

Good base, but it needs something to help break up the metallic areas. Rust comes in a wide variety of colors, most of which can easily be done with some simple drybrushing/stippling. Try taking one of your guys and drybrush a couple areas with some scorched brown (or something similar). Then, inside of the dark brown area, do a lighter highlight with some bubonic brown. Finally, just stipple a little orange here and there. This technique will reinforce the beat up look while adding color and contrast to your army. Another thing that might be cool would be to have weeping sockets. Just take a little of the black wash and draw a few thin lines down from the joints and recesses to really make the dudes look ancient.

pretty nice like james said orange and brown are the magic colors for rust, not tin bits like alot of people try to do
just take a little more time cleaning mold lines

I like where you are going with these Brian. I do agree that if you want rust we can experiment with brown and orange. I would love to see you get all the old ones redone and be on the cutting edge when the new codex hits. Just a thought, anything planned for the symbol on the chest?

I have been working on rusting up some of my Chaos tanks and bases. Scorched Brown and a light dry brush of Firery Orange will do the trick. Give it a go. The rust will really make them stand out

Would black be best for the weeping sockets? Given the consistency of the new washes wouldn't the contrasting color look better? Hard to tell, but is the current scheme more steel-colored, or brownish? Really needs a third color (other than the green of the gauss) to make them pop imho. And mold lines? Seriously?
