Hi
I have a couple of questions/confirmations regarding the October 2-4 GT:
- this is a 40k only event? (there is no concurrent fantasy tournament? If there is also a fantasy GT, when is it being held) - is there anything cool by way of prize support? (the hook to convince players to travel) - can you provide the criteria the judges are looking for with regards to painting? I didn't see it on the website. (The question is important if I am going to get a group together, because not knowing what judges are looking for can really spoil the day for some players, and deter repeat attendance)
Thanks, Nate Stevens

Its good to hear that their is some interest north of the border my friend.
While Jay is running the tourney, I do think I can help shed some light on the subject.
-This event is a 40K only event. The fantasy event was supposed to be held at Running GaGG this past winter but was cancelled due to lack of interest and a bad date ( Valentine's Day weekend)
-There will be cool prizes. Jay has worked hard to keep cost low plus I am certain that several of the members here will also donate prizes. If either of the previous GT's are any indication there will be several hundred dollars in prize support.
-Painting, always a fun topic. Believe it or not this score is usually a pretty straight forward. If you bring a skillfully painted army you will be rewarded. If it is average your score will reflect it. We have done 100% judge scoring in the past as well as a combination of player and judge based scoring, and from what I see the results are the same. I do not know specifically what Jay has in mind but he did say only the top 3 armies will get max scores. Take a look at some of the armies on our website for ideas as to what you might find at the GT. Paint your models to the best of your ability and I am certain you will do well. Specifically cool bases, display boards, appropriate conversions as well as good assembly and clean paint jobs with highlighting attract good scoring.

Nate is good to hear from you.
The event this year is only a 40k event. This is the third year we have run this event. The idea was to have it only 40k so not to draw from the same group of gamers. This year goal is to grow the event and get more outside players to come to the event. As we get bigger we hope to add other events.
We are getting a lot of prize support in a lot of different directions. We discussed about getting some big item like the forge world BRASS SCORPION for the over all prize, but have not made a final decision on it. Any ideas are welcome.
At this point we are looking to give out $300+ in GW/other product for the overall award. One of many cool prizes is that the trophies for each of main awards are going to be professional painted by blue table painting/BK army painting/other professional painters. The models can be removed from the trophies base and used in a game.
The idea with this tournament is the 100% of the money collected is turned back around into the event. The only real cost we have is for the space we are renting. The breakpoint for this event is around 22 players (we currently have 15 players signed up). So once we reach that point everything is going back into the event; mostly in prizes. It is hard to judge how much will have in total prizes this year until we have a exact count of the number of players.
The paint matrix has been completed, and being reviewed by the tournament council.
The comp matrix is also close to be completed. Once they have been completed I plan on posting them. I hope this happens in the next week or so.

Hi
Thanks for the updates.
I will see what kind of local interest I can drum up for the event. We have already done some cost analysis and it looks like it will be an affordable weekend provided we fill up vehicles.
The only snag is that we are holding a big 40K event the week before, so people may have had their fill for a little while.
Regardless, I hope that we can come down and help make your event a success just by being there.
Cheers, Nate
