Hello all.
This year’s NEWCC (NorthEast Warhammer Club Competition) will be 3 games of Fantasy at 2,250 points. It’ll take place on Saturday, Nov 14th, in North Arlington, NJ. I’m working with a broker to secure a venue with the Knights of Columbus. It should be finalized in a few days. If that needs to change, I’ll let you know.
Whether you’re new to NEWCC, or not, it’s a interclub tournament where each club needs to be represented by 4 players. Please nominate a 5th player to be on deck, in case someone can’t make it. Each game will be a 1 on 1. All club members’ scores will be added up, and the club with the most points will take home the coveted NEWCC trophy, with the condition that they must host the next NEWCC, change to the other system (in this case 40K), and defend the trophy.
There’s a possibility that Matt Birdoff (one of the founders of NEWCC) will grow NEWCC to a national level next year. If that happens, the team who wins the trophy still defends it, but Matt will be securing the venue, etc.
Requirements
All armies must be fully painted & based. All current army books will be in use. No White Dwarf units or rules, with the exception of the Gnoblar army. Any questions, please ask me. Please bring your army list (5 copies), dice, tape measure, and anything else you’d need to play.
Scoring
Currently, the idea is to have the overall score consist of about 50% battle points, 25-30% appearance, and 20-25% comp. If that changes, it shouldn’t be more than 5% here or there.
Display boards are optional, but will contribute to your army’s appearance. Army appearance (painting) & comp will be scored by a group of 5-7 judges selected from various clubs. Sportsmanship will not be judged, but if there’s a serious issue of bad sportsmanship, please advise a judge, or the tourney organizer (me), and points (to be determined) will be deducted from that player’s overall score. NEWCC has always been about having fun first, and winning second, so we all expect appropriate behavior. Feel free to bring up rules questions & clarifications with me, if you can’t resolve it together. If I don’t have the answer, I’ll find someone who can help.
Traditionally, the NEWCC trophy has been the only prize to give out, but this year, I’d like to add something else. We’re awarding etched beer glasses for all the players in the top 3 teams, as well as for Player’s Choice.
Player’s Choice
In between games 2 & 3, all players will vote for 1 army to be Player’s Choice. The player with the most votes will get a few bonus points to their overall score.
Medic!!!
I’d like to take a page out of Adepticon and have a Mini Medic to perform immediate repairs that are needed during gameplay. Just get my attention and I, or someone else, will come by to take the model away, repair it, and bring it back to you. Kudos to Adepticon!
Battle for the Club Terrain Piece
This year, we’d like to bring back an idea from the 1st NEWCC. Each club must bring a piece of terrain that represents their club with a logo or club’s name, etc. I recommend keeping it to either a hill or a (moveable) tree base ... unpassable terrain is not recommended. If you have a grand idea for something other than trees or a hill, please email me or post on our NEWCC board? During game 3, pick one of your club members to defend it. It’ll be an objective at the center of the table worth extra victory points. Whoever has the most points (each unit must be at least US 5) touching the terrain, will claim it. Ties are resolved via a roll off. If a table doesn’t have a club terrain piece, nominate any tree base or hill. In the cases where your opponent also has a club terrain piece, roll off to see which piece is actually used. The other piece must be given to a club member’s table that does not have a club terrain piece from either army. The rules are subject to change, so please refer to game 3’s scenario.
In Closing
I’ll be posting the day’s schedule later this week (hopefully) on our message boards. At this point, the entry fee should be $25 to cover the hall & table/terrain rental, & prizes. Hopefully that will not change, but if it does, I’ll advise.
Entry fees & army lists are due on November 1st. Please make sure to include your club & member names with your payment & army lists. I’d prefer that the entire club pays me at once, if possible. No biggie. If you mail me a check, please send it to:
Louis Branco
278 Elm St
Kearny, NJ 07032.
If you want to PayPal me, it’s StMichaelA(at)comcast(dot)net. Although, I would really appreciate it if you pay their fee that they’ll charge me for receiving payment from a debit/credit card. Their fee explanation is below:
Receiving money – Personal payments:
It's free to receive money from friends or family in the U.S. when they send the money from the PayPal website using their PayPal balance or their bank account.
If you receive a personal payment made from a debit card or credit card, the sender has the option to pay the fee or pass it on to you.
If the fee is passed to you, it is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD of the amount you receive. For example, if you are sent $100.00 USD by credit card, the fee would be $3.20 USD ($2.90 + $0.30). <end paste>
That should be everything, but I’m probably forgetting something. Please see our message board here warmongers.ziggyqubert.com/wmbb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7906 for updates, posting questions, etc, etc.
Thanks!
