So... I was watching history channel or something, and saw Alexander the great's tactic of starting battles with his army angled. This caused me to wonder why most people I see set out their army straight. I then remembered Simcon, where one of the set ups were angled. I remembered it fondly,(awesome game, I lost, but I lost with style ) as it helped my movement, so I started thinking on it, especially with my Sethayla (~mounted) list. i came up with this:
G=glade rider
H=warhawk rider
W=wardancer
E= eternal guard
D= dryad
T= treeman
The idea is generally anvils with teeth between them, the anvils being the treeman and the eternals, and the teeth being wardancers and dryads. There will then be an arm, close to a board edge to be used to reach around. A set up is something like this:
HHH
-----GGGGG-GGGGG-EEEEEEE----T
GGGGG--------------------WW-DDD
Then I would just move the entire army with the Treeman as the pivot point, ending up with that whole army along the left board edge (or I could set it up mirrored, then it would be the right side.) This could be acheived on the very first turn, with the speed the army can move at. After that I would do something of a nova, with the Glade riders trying to get behind or beside the army, along with the warhawks. The anvils and teeth would move in toward the enemy, as charging is their strong point, and stagnation kills this army. I hope to post a list or two to go with it later.
As for HQs, at 2000, an alter lord with netlings, the bow of multishot (a technical term ), and starfire arrows or the arcane bodkin would run to the right of the treeman, as long as (and this goes for any list) a hero with a warbanner and blight of terrors running with the eternals, and also in any list, 2 lvl 2 spellsingers, running near the 'teeth' as supplements.
Another thing I can't decide is 19, 20, or 24 eternal guardians. I know the units of glade riders will be 5 and the wardancers and dryads will be in 8s. I may also run some waywatchers in the opposite corner of the board.
