I'm basically re-vamping everything that I've done so far. I have a couple of pics here of a few units I'm currently working on. I'll try to get a shot or two of everything together soon. But here's what I have so far. The shots aren't the greatest. This will be a 15 man squad of Blood Claws This will be one 10 man squad of Grey Hunters. I need to paint a rhino for them too... <Future Project> Eventually, I'll try my hand at custom building some wolf guard and a wolf lord...

Looking really nice there.
I hope these are still wip?
The metals on the body (just the body, the guns and swords look good) looks like they could use a little bit more definition. That might just be a failing of the camera.
I think they all need a little bit more color to make them pop, some more red to contrast the yellow.
Space Wolves great companies still use the Space Wolves emblem, where do they put the great company tag, would that go on one of the greaves like an army badge? If you can do that up with a little splash of color that might help.

You'll notice a couple are still the grey they were primed. I have some custom decals to print for those. I need to test out the base color of the shoulder pad before applying to the rest of the army, so those will come in later. The grey Hunters will have red shoulder pads, Blood Claws, yellow, etc opposing the great company shoulder pads and I intend to have pack markings on each as well. I'm also in the process of collecting some custom bases similar to the one Grimnar is on. They will be done like snow and ice flows, etc though the coloring in the photo doesn't show this very well. The available lighting wasn't the greatest though. Hopefully, I'll be able to play in Boldo's winter league and can bring some of these to play with, but honestly painting is my priority right now. I have some friendly competition on this with some friends and am really sick of not having a fully painted army. Can you elaborate on the comment about the metals on the armor? I appreciate constructive criticism, I really want these to pop. I have no misconceptions of winning best painted in 2010, but want these to be the best I can make them.

On your blood claws the chest eagles look like they were supposed to be silver, but appear to be another shade of grey.
The blood claw with the wolf on his chest and the one next to it with the huge belt, in the pic they also look like they were supposed to be bronze, but don't really have a metalic sheen to them.
Could just be the pics too.
The long fang with the H Bolter looks kickin though.
Don't limit them to only having one color on the shoulder pad. The dags and chevrons in red and yellow look really hot.
Edit: Oh, and be careful with some of the heads. A couple look like they're watching the skies in amazement.

Oh, and be careful with some of the heads. A couple look like they're watching the skies in amazement. That is amazement! They can't believe Steve is painting!!!!!!!!! Seriously though you have some nice models! I do like the work you did on the Long Fang. As for the metallic on the chest aquillas, I was wondering the same thing that Ben touched on. A very simple and effective way to do them is to paint the aquilla chainmail then to wash them once or twice with Babad Black. After they dry, a light drybrushing of chainmail or mithril silver will really make them pop. Keep up the great work Steve.

Thanks for the tips guys. The Blood Claws and Grey Hunters definitely need work. Except for William Wallace (with the flamer and half red face), most of them are from when I first started painting before I figured a lot of things out. Some of them are some models that were painted and primed over. I'll replace them eventually, but for now they'll have to do with a retouch. If gives me more practice anyway. The Long Fang and Grimnar are my most recent attempts and were painted fresh (new models instead of used). I also started priming grey instead of the white I was using before, which seems to work out better for me. Instead of looking up to the skies in amazement, I was more thinking of looking up in the face of that MC in defiance. Thanks again for the critiques, keep them coming.
